Anti Mean Girls Club is a club everyone can belong to. Life is too short to be cool, come hang with the people warm. In AMGC we celebrate diversity: cultures, races, religions, gender identities, shapes and sizes, however different from ourselves. In a world that is competitive, judgmental and downright mean, we create a safe space that offers relief from our crippling efforts to be "cool" and permission to rest in our authentic selves. This is the anthesis to "mean girls" culture, where we raise ourselves up by putting others down. Join your host Veronika, liberal-arts grad, businesswoman and yoga teacher as we break down this outmoded modus operandi by exploring how are we unkind to others, to ourselves and what does an inclusive future look like for all.
Imposter Syndrome is when we find it difficult to internalize our accomplishments, skills and experience and fear being exposed as a fraud. Most people don’t talk about it since a big part of the experience is being afraid to be found out. Paradoxically, an ailment of high achievers, its roots stem from our upbringing and specific contexts we find ourselves in and is a vicious, but not impossible cycle to break.
We all have a mother. But who is she? Some thousands years ago women were the object of authority and worship. By considering archaeological, historical and spiritual evidence, we feel deeply into the sacredness of WOMAN and the need to safeguard it, especially in times of today.
When I saw my 12 year sister post #georgefloyd, it hit me what a flawed world we "adults" have created. How can we live in a way that benefits generations to come? Margaret Mead wrote, “never doubt that a small group of citizens can change the world...it's the only thing that ever has.” Now is the time and we are the ones we've been waiting for. In this episode we talk about becoming a trendsetter of new ways and creating a ripple effect in how things shape up going forward.
The highs are high and the lows are low. Things that we’ve swept under the rug (and have almost managed to keep hidden) have surfaced up. Facing this can feel like a regression, but we are reminded that healing is not linear. Changes that have come with covid are traumatic and with that comes grief over our old lives and opportunities lost. In this episode we debunk this heavy word "grief" and look to ancient wisdom for ways of coping.
In this episode we explore the shadow aspects of ourselves. It's healthy to let our inner freak out every once in a while and BE BAD. We look at the duality of good/bad and light/shadow as two equal parts of a bigger whole. We are both those parts and their partnership weaves the fabric of our being.
In this episode we look at shifting the paradigm from "we vs. they" to "us" and why it's helpful to bring the perceived enemy along for the journey with us.
In this episode we dissect the collective phenomenon of hoarding toilet paper when the world wide pandemic was announced. We look at TP as a symbolic barrier we strive desperately to create between us and our waste.
What is "normal" anymore? The year of 2020 challenges our consensual reality as we realize there is no "going back" to "normal".
In this episode we unravel current emotions present for many. We track them to their source and dissect them with the help of tools such as "worst case scenario technique". We realize there is latent capacity in us to face grim facts and in effect deepen our consciousness. Antidotes to these emotions are shared and classical Russian writer Tolstoy offers a unique perspective on the situation over some 100 years ago.
Let's acknowledge the elephant in the room (covid 19) and talk about ways to stay sane during the quarantine of our lives.
