Heard of venture capital but don't really know what it is? Want to found a startup but don't know where to begin? In this episode we spoke with Morgan Mahlock, a senior associate at In-Q-Tel and Stanford graduate, about her perspectives on the world of investment and advice to company founders looking for funding. Through combining her product design and mechanical engineering background with her work at the non-profit strategic investor supporting the U.S. intelligence and national security community, she provided key insights about the murky yet desirable world of entrepreneurship that any aspiring technologist should hear.

All three of us are college students currently working as tech interns in various capacities, and our summers have all been disrupted in different ways. Caitlin is working from home as a hardware engineering intern at Lyft, Amna is a hybrid virtual/in-person software developer at the startup HiRide, and Lagan is a virtual web developer at the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association. Tune in to hear us speak candidly about what it's been like to intern during this tumultuous time as a planet, as well as to gain insight and advice into how to to (somewhat) successfully work from home and stay mentally healthy.

Mackenzie Derival, our guest for this episode, is a designer, startup founder, and a Black man in tech. We spoke to him about his experience as a minority in tech and what the industry can do to change for the better.
