“Quitting drinking was literally my worst case scenario in life,” says Casey Davidson. “I desperately loved red wine, and I didn't want to give it up, but I knew it was an issue.” Casey explains that before she quit drinking, she was consuming more than a bottle of wine a night, seven days a week. She told herself that the wine was a necessity, that it was the only thing helping her cope with her stressful corporate job and being a mother to her two young children. But at a certain point, Casey realized her mental health was at stake, and so she cut wine out for good. Now, Casey is a Certified Professional Life & Sobriety Coach, host of The Hello Someday Podcast and the creator of the Free Sober Girl's Guide to Quitting Drinking. Casey specializes in working with busy, successful women who are ready to drink less and live more. She tells listeners that many of her clients come to her saying they want to quit drinking forever….and Casey stops them right in their tracks. Instead of setting a “forever” goal, Casey instead encourages clients to stop drinking for 100 days. This tangible number gives clients the opportunity to create space between themselves and their drinking, so they can better understand how healthy and fulfilled they can feel without alcohol. Tune into today's episode of FRIED. The Burnout Podcast for a tough, yet powerful conversation with Casey about alcohol and burnout. Learn about Casey's own recovery journey, how to expand your social environment to promote sobriety, and the importance of adding sober treats into each and every day regardless of your relationship with alcohol. Quotes • “I feel like burnout and over drinking are really tied together because drinking increases depression and anxiety and feeling like one extra thing is going to break the camel's back and a lot of people drink as a coping mechanism, not even realizing that when you drink too much you wake up at 3am with crushing anxiety and a racing heart rate and just feeling like complete garbage.” (02:50-03:25) • “For so many women and I know for myself, I thought the alcohol was helping me. I thought my bottle of wine at night was my only reward, the thing that was holding me together.” (04:00-04:12) • “Alcohol is not the solution and it's actually preventing you from really taking care of yourself, really setting boundaries, really digging into what your body needs, what your mind needs, what's not working for you in your life.” (11:12-11:26) • “So many women are in this gray area of struggling with alcohol, trying to limit it, trying to moderate it, and nobody talks about it. But, if someone actually decides to take a period away from drinking or to look at their relationship with alcohol, they are a million times ahead of so many women. It is brave, it is something incredible that you're doing. It's like deciding to run a marathon.” (36:00-36:28) • “In the year I stopped drinking, I made more new friends that I'd made in the decade before.” (44:40-44:45) • “In my first month not drinking, I saved $550. In three months, I saved $1,650. And five and a half years later, I've saved $36,000 not poisoning my body.” (47:34-47:48) Links https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/ https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/podcast/ https://hellosomedaycoaching.com/30-day-sober-guide/ https://www.instagram.com/caseymdavidson/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/caseydavidson/ XOXO, C If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Paul Robeson is a writer, scholar, athlete, film star, Pan Africanist, activist, and brilliant vocalist. Today we are talking about another benefit of taking action, which is to stop information gathering and just do. You can get so bogged down in research on a task that you're facing that you don't take action. Consider this, though. If you're not taking action, how do you know whether the research you're gathering will even help? Without taking action, your research is based on a theoretical conclusion that action A will prompt outcome B… but how will you know unless you move toward outcome B? I call this the getting ready to get ready syndrome. Tune in tomorrow for benefit #6 of you taking action. As we previously reported at The Real News, voters in Berlin were recently faced with a game-changing referendum to expropriate housing held by giant corporate landlords who have made the city increasingly unaffordable for most residents. The passing of the referendum, and the organizing that made it possible, was not only a shock but a source of hope for many around the world who have seen options for affordable housing gobbled up by vampire capitalists and large companies contributing to the runaway financialization of the housing market. How were Berliners able to take on these big landlords and pass this historic referendum? What happens now? And can Berlin provide a model for those fighting for housing justice around the world? In this segment of The Marc Steiner Show, Marc speaks with longtime TRNN contributor Molly Shah and Berlin-based activist Ian Clotworthy about the recent referendum and the great global housing struggle to come. Ian Clotworthy is from Ireland and has lived in Berlin for about 10 years; he is active in DW Enteignen (where he represents the Right2TheCity group), DSA Berlin, and the Green New Deal for Europe. Molly Shah is a freelance writer and social media consultant based in Berlin, and she's a regular contributor to The Real News. In this interview, I had the pleasure of interviewing Soctt Sunderland who was like a brother from another mother. We discussed all things in life but one of the most touching subjects was Scott's story. Due to some technical difficulties, we didn't have the story recorded fully so I attached a YouTube video of him sharing his story to where you can hear the full part below... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DaHg-AUY2o&t=5s In this episode, we get into what is really "REAL". What is your perception of reality vs mine and how do we come to terms to what is "REAL" and what is a fabrication of our consciousness. We go down some rabbit holes and I know you will find some immense wisdom in this episode to level up in your life. Tune in and share in the comments what was your biggest take-a-way! Who is Scott Sunderland? In 2001, Scott Sunderland found himself lying in a hospital bed, unable to move any part of his body. In just three days, he had gone from a very capable, athletic man to being completely paralyzed with a mind full of fear. However, Scott believed he was greater than just his body, and he used that power throughout the next year to teach himself how to literally walk out of that room and into a new life. However, on July 27th, 2012, Scott's world came crashing down once again while walking on a beach with his best friend and three children. The sand collapsed under their feet, throwing them into a current, fighting for their lives. Scott made it to shore only to watch his best friend, Brad, take his last breath before a wave ] washed over him and he was gone. This experience left Scott completely broken and searching. For the next five years, he yearned for Brad's forgiveness, only to realize that it was his own that he was searching for. Scott made a promise to live an inspired life for both Brad and himself. Scott left a life that wasn't serving him and stepped into the power that he realized he always was. Today, Scott has kept his promise and tells his stories as triumphs. Teaching others that all their limitations, failures, sicknesses, losses, and addictions are just there to show them the door to their own greatness. Scott strives to inspire, motivate, and empower people and help them realize they are the victor just waiting to be uncovered. How to Connect with Scott? She is an embodiment of the results of manifestation, as she manifested the book on her birthday this year. Manifesting Her Grandmother's Gift Cassandra's grandmother, who she considers her best friend and go-to person, passed away recently. On her first birthday without her grandmother, Cassandra expressed that she expected a gift undeniably from her. She joined a meditation retreat wherein she was able to plug into source and divine energy. She took it as a gift from her grandmother. On that same day, she got an email from a publisher. She has been trying to pitch the book in different ways, but it just wasn't ever right. Cassandra believes that her grandmother pulled some strings for her to make that happen. Because of that, she was able to finish the book in a week and a half. Manifesting through Meditation From working with clients, Cassandra noticed how most people are skipping meditation when attempting manifestation methods. Due to the manifestation catchphrase culture, many believe that manifestation methods without spiritual work are enough. In her book, she provided a four-step process to guide readers to grow in meditation when manifesting. She details 100 different meditations to guide you in this process. Listen to the full episode to hear more! The First Step: Remembering Yourself People tend to skip this step, not realizing that without it, the process won't work. The primary purpose of meditation is for you to remember who you are. When you do, you remember that you are a divine creator, have infinite potential, and limitless possibilities for your life. This step is crucial because we manifest from the infinite within us, not from our human personality. Tune in to the full episode to hear how Cassandra practices this step! The Second Step: Connecting to Your Soul Once you remember who you are, you connect to your soul's desires. These are different from your human desires, which are usually swayed by peer pressure. Our desires are like divine seeds planted in our souls that we are meant to grow. You can find your soul's desires through meditation, where you bare yourself of external pressures and go into your heart and essence. We also have to be careful of getting attached to how we want a desire to happen. The Third Step: Reflection This step involves looking at your wounds and limiting beliefs. You have to sit down with yourself and why you have yet to have what you manifest. A lot of people hate this step because it makes them evaluate and reassess their life and decisions. Cassandra's book has a whole process on how to help you do fear inventory, work through them, and heal. When you start shifting your mindset, you get to see the other side of everything, where more things are available to you. The limiting beliefs we put on ourselves keep us from manifesting more abundance. The Last Step: Quantum Embodiment Quantum embodiment is the step wherein you believe that the thing you're manifesting has already happened. To get to this level, you should not be restrained by your own beliefs. You don't have to wait for it to happen. Act like you already got it, and you will attract it even faster. In this step, you have to ask yourself: How would the next-level version of me do life? Cassandra's Personal Experience of Quantum Embodiment One of the biggest things that Cassandra manifested was being in a cooking show on ABC. She used to post amateur videos of herself cooking on YouTube because she enjoyed it. That is how a producer of the show found her. She also manifested her books. She was already talking about it to her friends even if the writing had not started yet. Cassandra only started writing the book when she got the deal. But, it didn't matter because she was energetically sending the message that she was willing to show up. Whenever she wants something to happen, she acts as if it happened already. That's what she did when she set up a home studio, which paved the way for her acting career. Rosie's Manifestation Before, Rosie wanted to do public speaking. However, she didn't really enjoy being on camera. She enrolled herself in a monologue acting class where she read a poetry book in front of everyone. She was terrified, which speaks to how manifesting takes hard work and not just feeling your fantasy. The class helped her feel more confident and empowered in all areas of her personal and professional life. Looking back, Rosie thinks that class was what she needed to create the podcast. Everything Happens for a Reason Cassandra suggests that we should be open and intuitive about other people's suggestions. We think that our journey to our desire is linear. Sometimes we have to trust that the dots are going to connect. Our desires may be guiding us to another thing which we have yet to conceive. How Cassandra Feels Radically Loved She feels radically loved through meditation, which allows her to have a dialogue with her ‘divine support squad'. She ends up seeing and feeling their support as she moves through every day. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode [07:29] “I believe that manifestation is something that you have to not only cultivate in a spiritual sense, but also, it's something that you think. It's something that you say. It's something that you do.” [08:55] “There's this illusion that you can snap your fingers, manifest stuff without actually doing the spiritual work that requires.” [11:56] “When you remember who we are, then we remember that we're divine creators; we remember that we have infinite potential, that we have limitless possibilities for our life.” [12:18] “We don't manifest from our human personality, right? We manifest from the infinite within us.” [32:15] “It could be the journey that having that desire brings us on actually leads us to something that we couldn't even conceive at that moment because it wasn't even available in our consciousness yet.” About Cassandra Cassandra Bodzak is a thought leader and global meditation and wellness teacher.
