Hey Flex Your Rights Nation! I am pleased to announce that Constitution Day 2020 is the day we debut our premiere episode! Each week, we’ll be talking to some VERY interesting people, just like you, who are flexing their rights and working to make the world a better place for all of us to safely flex ours. I’ll be talking to lawyers, academics, activists, and ordinary people who are working on the front lines AND behind the scenes to make the world we live in a little bit better, a little bit brighter, and hopefully, a little bit more fair.
Aaditya Agarwal, a 17 year old high school student who developed an app called PulledOver, to record interactions with the police, and notify your emergency contacts with the video and your location, is my guest on this 3rd episode of the Flex Your Rights podcast! We talk about what motivated him to develop the app and what he hopes it can do to help people and even promote positive interactions with police. Aaditya is a brilliant and idealistic young man, and he renews my hope in a brighter future. You can download his app PulledOver at the Google Play Store.
Jared Trujillo is my guest on this week’s show. He is a public defender, organizer, and adjunct law professor, and the President of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, UAW local 2325. And in what little spare time he has, Jared travels around the State of New York, speaking to lawmakers and community organizations on “decriminalizing queerness” and the impact of over policing and over incarceration on queer and trans communities, with special emphasis on how the laws that criminalize sex work disproportionately impact trans women of color, and queer youth. Please welcome to episode 2 of Flex Your Rights: the podcast, Jared Trujillo!
