Two guys in their late 20s reminisce, share wisdom, give advice, and talk about stories of where they went wrong in their 20s. Both from Ontario, Canada and graduates of the University of Guelph, Alex and Max now live in Dublin, Ireland and bring a comedic take on some issues that people in their 20…
We have a group affair here, with three guys in their 40s and 50s joining Max and Alex for this episode. Jimmy, a director at a notable tech company, tells us about being nomadic in his 20s and a great piece of advice he once received: nothing matters until you’re 30. Army veteran Dan talks about his time serving in Germany and Dave shares a heartfelt story about losing touch with a good friend during his 20s, who then recently passed away. The guys discuss the “sex-crazed 90s”, dick pics and how different technology was for our guests when they were growing up. The biggest takeaway from this episode: if you don’t know what to do in your 20s, talk to someone older than you, they’ll give you some great advice. And they'll have some great stories too.
This week, the guys are joined by Max’s girlfriend “Jane” and Bryan also comes back on to discuss why some people should pursue a Masters Degree or postgrad education in their 20s, rather than going straight into the workforce. They were supposed to discuss what it’s like to get fired or lose your job, but the conversation gets massively derailed and they end up talking about co-workers who have had sex or masturbated on the job. The guys also have a debate about whether you have to match your shoes, belt, and watch when you’re just wearing jeans. And it’s all capped off by another hilarious public masturbation story about Max and Jane catching a kid in the park beating off (and finishing).
This week, the guys address some feedback from their debut episode and properly introduce themselves. Alex talks about his experience being on the reality show, First Dates Ireland, and Max discusses Twitter trolls and his recent experience being one. They talk about understanding your body as you age into your 20s, knowing when you’re too drunk, and just not being the same athletes they once were in their prime. They bring on a call-in guest, Bryan, who is (assistant to the) financial controller of something-something in the U.S. and they chat about moving in with your significant other, destination weddings, and of course, sh*tting yourself. They finish it off with some drunken wisdom – an idea is only an idea until you do it. Whatever it is that you are passionate about, stop thinking about it and just go out there and do it.
In the first episode of Lost in Your 20s, the guys have a few beers, while chatting about good times at the University of Guelph, inadvertent racism, Justin Trudeau’s brownface, some stories of bar fights they got into when they were younger, and accidentally stumbling upon a brothel when trying to find a Chinese buffet. They discuss what it was like to move from Canada to Ireland and they wrap it up by smoking a joint, and Max tells of how he picked some magic mushrooms in the Wicklow Mountains.
