Help, I’ve Fallen and I Want to Get Up

Proverbs 24:15-18 KJV [15] Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: [16] For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Psalm 37:23-24 The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. LET US PRAY You’ve seen the commercials where a person has fallen to the floor and then says, “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up”. Well, today for my sermon thesis, I want to change that slogan around a little bit and say “Help, I’ve fallen and I want to get up”. In all of our lives, at some point, we all have fallen. I’m not talking about literally falling because you tripped on concrete, ice or on a slippery floor. I’m talking about falling away from God. In some way, we have all sinned and have been tripped up and fallen into temptation. Each of us struggle in different areas of temptation. But God has another plan! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support

God has given us a roadmap....It’s His word...His promises to His children. But there are times when we miss the turn on His roadmap...we miss opportunities...we miss blessings...we miss what we’ve been praying for because we don’t see what we think we are supposed to see on this road of life. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support

Losing Yourself

“How do you lose yourself?” Jesus said to those who were persecuting Him, I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. In other words, He had lost Himself in the things of God. He said, not my will, but God’s will be done! Do you need more of an explanation? Well let’s begin by looking at a few things. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support

Beautifully Dirty

One day as I was sitting in the car waiting to go on a trip downstate, I saw a beautiful red cardinal resting on the ground eating away at what looked like a small dead animal. In that moment of time, I was distracted. I was not able to see the beauty of that red cardinal because of what he was doing. His actions of eating something dead and decayed turned me off and made me see another side to something that I normally thought of as beautiful. Who Do You Say He Is?

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 10, 2019 23:54

Jesus asked the disciples, “Whom say the people that I am?” My question for you today is this: “Who do YOU say He is? Who is He to YOU? This is a question that each one of us should contemplate daily, because if we question ourselves daily, life would change significantly. There are things we wouldn’t worry about...there are things we wouldn’t say and there are things we wouldn’t even think about doing because of who He is to us and in our daily lives. Oftentimes as we live, move and have our being, we lose sight. We get blinded to this world and what it has to offer. We lose sight of the importance of who God is as a Father to His children. We lose sight of what He alone has already and always has been to us. If we can go back into the portals of our mind and do a quick survey, forgotten memories can make a sweet difference in the way we live if we clear the foggy lenses of our minds, to clearly see and remember who He really is. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support

It is Finished

When Jesus said “It is finished” from the cross, He meant what He said. All of our sins...every transgression, was nailed to the cross. So why do we continue to carry the cross of our past? It is finished! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support

It’s God’s grace that falls upon those who trust and obey Him! And we know, that in all things, God Works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Ruth’s story was all a part of prophecy...it was a segment of God’s divine grace. We too have a purpose and plan of grace that has been preordained by God. Listen and know that God’s divine grace is settled for you. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theresa-odom-surgick/support
