From Moses raising his staff, to the servants filling jars with water, to the priests stepping into a raging river — miracles didn't happen instead of obedience… they happened because of it.In this powerful episode of New Path New You, Ron Cool unpacks how God partners with men who are willing to act, why delayed obedience can keep you stuck, and how your simple “yes” can unlock God's faithfulness in your life, marriage, leadership, and purpose. If you've been waiting for clarity, confidence, or the “perfect moment,” this episode will challenge you to stop waiting and start moving.Because God doesn't just work for us — He works through us.
We'll be back on March 15 with an all-new season of How God Works! In the meantime, we're excited to share one of our favorite episodes — our very first live event. If you ask people what they think about religion, you often get one of two answers: Religion is the source of war, violence, abuse, and hypocrisy OR a route to love, kindness, tolerance, and mercy.Put another way, it's either what divides us or it's the thing that can actually bring us together. In a country deeply divided over social, political, and moral issues that seems to be moving further apart by the day, the answer's not likely to be a simple one. How God Works held its first live event in December to explore just that. Why does something that has the potential to connect us so deeply also have the ability to divide us so profoundly? And, regardless of what we believe, is there something we can learn from what religion gets right to find a way to come together? In a wide-ranging and often moving discussion, Dave spoke to a panel of leading spiritual thinkers and social scientists who have experienced both sides of the issue, including Central Synagogue Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, award-winning author and Christian Historian Diana Butler Bass, The University of North Carolina's Deepest Beliefs Lab director Kurt Gray, and The Aspen Institute's Religion and Society Program's executive director Simran Jeet Singh.

The book of Acts is the narrative of the work of the Spirit among the first century believers when the Kingdom of God expanded from one ethnic group to many. This moment in Church History established the pattern for how God equips and empowers His people to be His witnesses in such a way that engages the culture for its redemption and restoration.
This week, Pastor Jim walks us through 1 Samuel 1:1–28, the story of Hannah's deep sorrow, honest prayer, and faithful trust in God. In her pain and longing, Hannah pours her heart out before the Lord, showing us what it looks like to bring our burdens to God without holding back. God hears her prayer and responds in His perfect timing, reminding us that He is attentive to the cries of His people. The passage challenges us to trust God with what matters most and to remain faithful, even while we wait.Recorded: 02-01-26Scripture: 1 Samuel 1:1-28
In this message from Luke 1:26–56, we see what it means for God to work through willing hearts as Mary responds to His calling with humility, questions, and surrender. Through her journey, God Works Through Willing Hearts becomes more than a theme—it becomes an invitation for us to trust the God who meets ordinary people with extraordinary grace. This passage reminds us that when we say yes to Him, He fills our lives with assurance, purpose, and joy.

Has God been working in your life longer than you realize? Have you ever looked back and seen moments that felt guided—even before you knew Christ? In this 'Average Joe' conversation, Pastor Jim Ramos sits down with high school teacher and coach, and friend, Wade Sims. Wade shares how his life seemed led from the very beginning—through opportunities, challenges, and circumstances that only made sense in hindsight. Together, Jim and Wade unpack the tension between God's sovereignty and human responsibility, exploring how God equips men, lays the groundwork for calling, and draws us forward. Many times God's call is already placed on you, and it's your responsibility to live it out with clarity and courage. You'll walk away with a better understanding of why theology matters, but it always leads back to Jesus. This Christmas sermon challenges the romanticized view of Christ's birth by examining the real hardships, inconveniences, and suffering that Mary and Joseph endured. Pastor Joe Fant emphasizes that God orchestrated every difficult detail of the nativity—from the forced 70-80 mile journey to Bethlehem while Mary was nine months pregnant, to the rejection at the guest house, to giving birth among animals—to accomplish His divine purpose. The message reveals that God works through our suffering and inconveniences for our ultimate good and His glory, just as He used 60 million people's inconvenience during Caesar Augustus's census to position Christ exactly where He needed to be born. The sermon calls believers to view their own hardships through eyes of faith, trusting that God is working a bigger picture than we can see, developing steadfastness and endurance in our lives while accomplishing His redemptive purposes. Key Points: God works through hardship and inconvenience to accomplish His divine purpose for our good and His glory The Christmas story was anchored in real history with real suffering, not a romanticized fairy tale Mary and Joseph endured a forced journey of 70-80 miles while Mary was nine months pregnant God orchestrated 60 million people to travel during the census so Christ could be born in Bethlehem Mary gave birth in a stable, rejected from the guest house, experiencing isolation from family and friends The humble circumstances of Christ's birth demonstrated He came as a servant-king who understands the outcast The shepherds—society's outcasts—were the first to worship, emphasizing Christ came for the lowly All suffering in our lives is for a reason: to test our faith and produce steadfastness God permits what He hates to accomplish what He loves If God can redeem the murder of His own Son, He can redeem any hardship we face We must look at our circumstances with eyes of faith, trusting God's bigger picture Scripture Reference: Luke 2:1-21 (primary passage) 1 Chronicles 24 (referenced regarding Zachariah's temple service) James 1 (referenced regarding trials testing faith and producing steadfastness)
God could, if he chose, do all things by himself. But in His infinite wisdom, He chooses to work through vessels of clay to accomplish His ends in the world.
Original Air Date 2 November 2015. Things go wrong; problems come into our lives. Events happen which are beyond our control. In Mark 5 Jairus knew that Jesus could solve his problem, he believed in miracles, but what Jairus didn't know is how big a miracle he would need. Jesus knew the delay caused by healing other people meant this girl would die, but He also knew there was going to be a resurrection. Jesus said to Jairus, and He says to you, 'Don't be afraid, only believe'. 'When it hurts so bad why don't you give it to Jesus? He can see your troubled heart. He can mend the pain that binds you. Jesus loves you so. He's the healer of your soul.' - When it hurts so bad 'O come all ye faithful' & 'When it hurts so bad' used by kind permission of Vinesong

In this message, guest speaker, Casey Flitsch invites us to see that God works in our waiting—in our personal tension, our shared longing, and even the story God is writing across all creation. Through Joseph's story in Matthew 1, we discover that waiting is never wasted but becomes a place of formation, invitation, and the assurance that Immanuel—God with us has come. This Advent, we're reminded that the delay we feel is often the very space where God is doing His deepest work.

Sermon from Sunday, October 19th, 2025.A Study of Romans 8:28-30.Thesis: God is working towards good, Our peak ultimate Good.
No matter how big you think your best play is… it's not in your playbook, it's in God's. See, family… the plays we draw up can only take us so far. But the ones God has lined up for us? They go beyond goals, beyond limits, beyond imagination. You might think you're chasing the next big win, the next trade, the next breakthrough, but sometimes, GOD is just setting you up for a play that's bigger than anything you could ever call for yourself. Stop questioning the delays. Stop comparing your journey. Because while you're planning small victories, God is scripting generational blessings. Your losses weren't punishment — they were preparation. Your struggle wasn't failure — it was foundation. And your time ain't passed — it's being positioned. So keep moving with faith, not fear. Because when it's God's play… the outcome is already written. You Dream in Limits… God Works in Overflow

Send a text to Melissa and she'll answer it on the next episode. Peeling back layers - it's a phrase homeopaths use to describe the healing journey, and in this final installment of our Encouragement Series, we discover how profoundly this metaphor applies to our spiritual lives as well. When facing chronic illness, the center of that metaphorical onion can seem impossibly distant beneath years of accumulated layers. The journey toward wellness feels overwhelming, progress seems painfully slow, and sometimes old symptoms resurface just when we thought we were moving forward. Sound familiar? It's remarkably similar to our walk with God - the frustrations of sanctification, the disappointment when we struggle with issues we thought were resolved, and the confusion when growth happens in unexpected areas. But there's profound beauty in these parallels. Just as homeopathic remedies work gently without forcing change, God works in our lives with grace and patience. He knows exactly how much transformation we can handle at once. And when those old symptoms or struggles return? That's not failure - it's often a sign that our bodies and souls are now stronger, better equipped to process and move through them permanently.Melissa and Bri share a powerful story about a severely pruned fiddle leaf fig tree that appeared dead for a month before exploding with more abundant growth than ever before. What looked like certain death was actually the necessary preparation for unprecedented flourishing. What if our painful seasons of pruning are exactly the same?Whether you're walking through physical healing, spiritual transformation, or both simultaneously, this episode offers encouragement for the journey. The layers are peeling back, one by one, in exactly the right order. And underneath it all? Something beautiful is emerging.FIND ME!
Miracles in the mess, overcoming the fear of others' opinions, and trusting that God's work cannot be frustrated—Host Maurice Harker shows how to begin with the end in mind, let go of perfectionism, and move forward even when life feels chaotic. You'll hear real stories, courage cues (think Daniel & Esther), and practical framing to trade shame for purpose and act with faith today. If this helps, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so others can find the show.

Send us a textHave you ever felt like your prayers are met with silence?Like you're standing still while everyone else seems to be moving forward? In this episode, I'm sharing how God often does His deepest work in the quiet, unseen places. Even when it feels like nothing is happening—He's aligning hearts, shifting circumstances, and preparing paths we can't yet see. We'll reflect on Exodus 14:14, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still,” and hold tightly to the truth in Romans 8:28—that God is working for our good, even when we can't feel it.If you're in a waiting season, this one is for you. God's silence is never absence—and His delays are never wasted.

We're dropping in an episode of Dave DeSteno's podcast How God Works that explores the profound connection between craft and spirituality. Dave examines why making things with our hands can put us in a transformative state called "flow" - where time disappears, worries fade and we lose ourselves in he work. Through conversations with a Tibetan monk who creates intricate sand mandalas, a Native American glass artist and the former director of Maine's renowned Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, this episode reveals how the simple act of shaping materials can shape us in return. It's about finding meaning in the dialogue between maker and medium and discovering that sometimes the most sacred moments happen when our hands are busy and our minds are still. Enjoy!
