The Word of God must be studied rightly so we build our lives on truth rather than falsehood. Since all Scripture is inspired by God, we should study it with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, compare passages, and examine multiple translations to understand God's message. Not every passage is meant to establish doctrine, as some Scriptures describe events while others instruct us how to live. Sound interpretation requires reading Scripture in context, recognizing personal biases, and establishing beliefs through consistent biblical patterns rather than isolated verses. __________ 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV, 2 Timothy 3:16–17 KJV, John 16:13 NLT __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________
What does it really mean to “be holy”? Is holiness something we achieve through rule-keeping and personal effort, or does Scripture point us to something greater? In this message, we examine the biblical call to holiness and discover that our standing before God is not based on our own righteousness but on the perfect righteousness … Continue reading "Be Ye Holy"

JUN. 16, 2026Understanding the kingdom of God."The kingdom of God is within you." Lk 17:21 NKJVIn one sense, the kingdom of God is future, eternal, and heavenly. When Christ returns to set up His kingdom on earth, the prophecy will be fulfilled: "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" (Rev 11:15 NKJV). What a glorious day that will be for all of God's redeemed children. But until then, Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you." That means as a born-again believer living in this world, you're called to demonstrate what it means to live under the rule of the King of kings and Lord of lords. Winston Churchill famously quipped: "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried." All human governments are flawed and ultimately destined to fail because they are made up of flawed human beings. So as citizens of the kingdom of God, we are called to be "light" that illuminates darkness and dispels ignorance, and "salt" that flavors, cleanses, heals, and enriches the lives of those we come in contact with (see Mt 5:13-14). We are called to practice the principles of God's kingdom in the marketplace of life.Whether you work in education, transportation, medicine, politics, agriculture, IT, sales, manufacturing, etc., you are called to demonstrate the benefits of living under the rule of Christ and by the guidance of His indwelling Holy Spirit. "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord." When Christ returns, that promise will be totally fulfilled. Until then, Jesus said, "Occupy till I come" (Lk 19:13 KJV).Understanding the kingdom of God "Occupy till I come."Share This DevotionalSend us Fan MailSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

Send us Fan Mail“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” — Ephesians 4:11-12The fivefold ministry remains alive and well in the modern Church. However, much confusion persists regarding the precise role of the prophet in the New Testament body. God established this office as an enduring function; nowhere in Scripture do we see it removed. Therefore, it is vital for believers to understand the prophet's unique operation, especially regarding how the prophet collaborates with the Pastor—the God-assigned leader of the local congregation. While the spiritual head of a prophetic ministry is an Apostle (appointed by God, not man), the prophet serves as God's chosen messenger and mouthpiece. It is only when a church embraces the full fivefold ministry that the saints are truly perfected, the work of the ministry flourishes, and the body of Christ is fully edified. The Foundation of Prophetic Character: LoveProphets have been used throughout history to relay divine messages, yet the ministry often receives a “bad rap” due to individuals operating out of order. To understand how a prophet should function, we must look to the specific guidelines of 1 Corinthians 13.13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Scripture explicitly states that though a person may possess the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries, if they lack charity (love), they are nothing. Love is the non-negotiable foundation of the office. Furthermore, while charity never fails, 1 Corinthians 8-12 reminds us that spiritual gifts are temporary. At the return of Christ, when we experience complete, face-to-face knowledge of God in eternity, the need for prophetic guidance will pass.Until that day, true prophets do not rejoice when their fellow travelers on the “Highway of Holiness” stumble; rather, they find their joy exclusively in the triumph of truth.Because we currently see through a dim glass, prophets must strictly discard any childish inclinations toward self-importance or self-exaltation. For instance, a prophet must not react like an undisciplined child when a delivered word is met with skepticism or is rejected. A prophetic word is often entirely new to the recipient, who retains the right to either receive or reject it. Time ultimately proves all revelation. Since a true prophet does not seek personal glory, the unbelief of others is irrelevant. The prophet's sole mandate is obedience to God's command to speak. As Romans 3:3 asks:“For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?”The Weight and Cost of the MantleThere is no room for vanity in this office. A prophet must maintain a close relationship to God, constantly evaluating their own life against divine standards. The trials assigned to a prophet are often deeply painful.Consider Hosea, who was commanded to marry a woman of the streets as a living symbol of God's relationship with an unfaithful Israel. He endured public humiliation and was required to personally buy his wife back from brokenness. Even his children bore the prophetic weight, given names meaning “God Scatters,” “No Mercy,” and “Not My People.” Similarly, the book of Jeremiah reveals the immense hostility a prophet may face, detailing narrow escapes from multiple assassination plots. Often, a prophet is instructed to say and do things that run counter to popular opinion. Yet, when God commands it, the prophet must speak—confident that the eternal reward will far outweigh the earthly cost.Discerning the Office from the GiftIt is crucial to distinguish between those who possess prophetic expressions and those who occupy the office of a prophet. Individuals may carry titles such as prophesier, seer, psalmist, or dreamer; while they may be operating prophetically, they do not necessarily bear the prophet's mantle. The Prophesier: 1 Corinthians 14 encourages all saints to desire to prophesy for edification, exhortation, and comfort. However, exercising this gift does not make a believer a prophet. The Seer: The seer perceives things hidden from the natural eye. While this is an ancient term associated with the prophetic, not all prophets operate primarily as seers. The Psalmist: A psalmist—such as King David (who Acts 2:30 explicitly identifies as a prophet)—utilizes rhyme, song, and music to release revelation. Yet not every musical psalmist holds the office of a prophet. The Dreamer: The dreamer receives spiritual insight through dreams. However, dreams can be heavily influenced by personal emotions and psychology, making them the least reliable among subjective indicators. What these distinct operations often lack is the enforcement power and spiritual authority inherent in the prophet's mantle. The office of a prophet is far more than delivering an individual word, speaking in a congregation, or addressing nations. Once fully prepared by God, a prophet is granted significant authority in the spiritual realm, backed by angelic assistance to confirm the spoken word. Like every branch of the fivefold ministry, it is a strictly God-ordained position.Demeanor, Timing, and Divine OrderA prophet's lifestyle requires total dedication to God through fasting, studying Scripture, and maintaining constant communication with Him. This demands complete obedience to God's will, even when it is not fully understood. Furthermore, a true prophet receives supernatural backing to confirm their words. This role cannot be achieved through personal desire or effort; it is an innate calling. Ultimately, a prophet's very life often foreshadows the future. They are not merely messengers, but trailblazers who lead, challenge, and transform the history of God's people.Prophets receive information and directions from God through dreams, visions, and a distinct spiritual “knowing.” They must know His voice intimately, distinguishing it not only from counter-spirits but from their own internal thoughts.Unlike moments when God gives a believer a spontaneous word to prophesy—such as during a church service—He often reveals messages to His prophets well in advance. A prophet may hold onto that word for a season, understanding that obedience requires not only speaking what God commands, but speaking it exactly when He ordains.Ultimately, prophets, like all believers, must be diligent to make their calling and election sure. Only God can call, anoint, and establish a prophet in the divine position assigned to them before birth. A true prophet ensures they are genuinely sent by God, rather than someone who merely “went” out of misguided zeal; the eternal implications are simply too great. As 2 Peter 1:10 (KJV) admonishes:“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.”
He was a contradiction. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” - Romans 8:1 (KJV)

This episode concludes this series..A @Christadelphians Video: [Inspiring] Have you ever wondered why there are so many different versions of the Bible? In this thought-provoking and insightful presentation, Jason Hensley concludes his series by exploring the vital role of diversity in Bible translation committees. This expositional discussion reveals how including translators from different backgrounds—women, ethnic minorities, and diverse perspectives—can illuminate nuances in the original Hebrew and Greek that might otherwise be missed. From understanding why the ESV alternates between "sons of men" and "children of men," to the profound difference between translating Song of Solomon 1:5 as "black but lovely" versus "black and lovely," this video demonstrates how translation choices shape our understanding of Scripture. Jason also examines fascinating passages like Jeremiah 13:23 (can the Ethiopian change his skin?) and how the Hebrew grammar offers a different, more beautiful reading. This is a wonderful and revealing exploration of why having multiple translations is not a weakness, but an outstanding strength that helps us draw closer to what God is truly teaching us.

There is a term in warfare called "the fog of war." It is a metaphor for the confusion that occurs on the battlefield when bullets are flying and bombs are exploding. In this confusion, or fog, the battle plan becomes unclear and uncertain. Likewise, there is a fog in life that causes confusion in the vision God has given you. The Bible calls this fog the "cares of this world." Let's learn more about the fog of life and how to prevent it from clouding your vision from God. __________ Matthew 13:7 KJV, Matthew 13:22 KJV, Mark 11:13–14 KJV, Jeremiah 1:5 KJV __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________
JUN. 8, 2026How to make anger work for you (2)"Sensible people control their temper." Pr 19:11 NLTAnger scares many of us because we've been harmed by it. But anger can be evidence that a person cares about someone or something. Nothing wrong is ever made right without someone becoming angry about it. If you shut down all anger, you eliminate passion, intimacy, and love. Here are two ways to make anger work for you: (1) Direct your anger at the right target. Your spouse is not the enemy; Satan is. He comes to "steal, and to kill, and to destroy" (Jn 10:10 KJV). He's the one trying to drive a wedge between you. Consciously move your focus from your spouse to the problem. For example, get angry at your lack of finances, not your spouse's spending. Get angry at demands pulling you in different directions, not your spouse staying late at work. Get angry at the limitations on intimacy, not your spouse saying no to sex. Put the problem "out there," separate from you and your spouse. See yourselves as fighting the problem together. Attack the problem, not each other. (2) Look for the pain. Find the pain that triggered the anger; it's almost always there. Look for it in your spouse and in your own heart. What need isn't being met? What wound has been exposed? What shame or fear is aroused? When you identify the pain, you'll be miles closer to the solution. But beware! By being vulnerable, you may end up wounding each other sometimes; acknowledge it and forgive quickly. Staying engaged while risking vulnerability will increase intimacy more than anything else. So embrace anger as God's gift, and learn how to make it work for you.How to make anger work for you Direct your anger at the right target.Share This DevotionalSend us Fan MailSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

Talk 3 The Right Use of Interpretation of Tongues Hello again. Welcome to Talk 3 in our series on NT Guidelines for Small Group Meetings. Last time, our subject was speaking in tongues and its right use in our meetings. We saw that we should not speak in tongues loudly unless it's for interpretation and that it must only be spoken loudly if someone is there to interpret it. So today we'll be looking in more detail at the important gift of interpretation of tongues. Apart from two references in chapter 12 (v10 and v30), our main source of material for understanding this gift is found in 1 Corinthians 14, so it would be good to have your Bible open there. In this talk I will: · Examine the references to interpretation of tongues · Discuss certain practical issues that arise from this · Finish with a brief summary. A. References to interpretation of tongues 1 Corinthians 12:10-11, 30 10 …and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? These verses make clear that not everybody has this gift. Each gift is given as the Holy Spirit determines. (By the way, speaking in tongues in verse 30 refers to its use in church, not to its private use as prayer with one's spirit). 1 Corinthians 14:5 The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in tongues, unless they interpret so that the church may be edified. This verse reveals the purpose of the gift – the edification of the church. As we saw in our last talk, prophesying is preferable to speaking in tongues because prophecy edifies the church whereas speaking in tongues does not, because no one can understand it (2). However, if speaking in tongues is interpreted, it can edify the church, in which case it is as valuable as prophecy. But this need not mean that it's necessarily the same as prophecy. We will discuss this in more detail in a moment. 1 Corinthians 14:13 In verse 12 Paul tells the Corinthians to try to excel in gifts that build up the church. This gives the reason for what he says in verse 13. Anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret… Why? Because the only way that speaking in tongues will edify others is if it is interpreted. Notice too that the verse does not mean that all interpretations should be given by the person who has spoken in tongues. The interpretation may very well be given by someone else. To allow someone other than the speaker in tongues to interpret means that more people are participating in the meeting, something Paul is keen to encourage, as the next passage makes clear. Verses 26-28 26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two – or at the most three – should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. Verse 26 is the key verse upon which this series is based. It gives clear guidance on the sort of things we should expect in our meetings. Notice that tongues and interpretation are included in what Paul is recommending. But note the use of the word if in verse 27: If anyone speaks in a tongue… This shows us that Paul does not automatically assume that there will be speaking in tongues in the meeting. The things mentioned in verse 26 are not obligatory ingredients for every meeting. They are the kind of things to expect, but not necessarily in every meeting. The manifestation of spiritual gifts will vary from meeting to meeting as the Spirit leads. The main point is that whatever is taking place, everything must be done for the strengthening of the church. So, if anyone speaks in tongues, what should happen next? Paul is quite clear on this: If anyone speaks in a tongue, let it be by two or at the most three people. And let one person interpret (my translation). This doesn't refer to private use of tongues in church, which is allowed, provided it's done quietly, speaking to yourself and to God (28). It refers to the use of tongues for the purpose of interpretation, because Paul says, Let one person interpret. So, during the course of a meeting, no more than three people should speak in tongues with a view to interpretation. Another practical issue that we will need to consider in due course is how to understand and apply the final part of verse 27, which NIV translates as, Someone must interpret, but which KJV translates this as, Let one interpret (my emphasis), which is the literal translation of the Greek word that Paul uses here. That's why, in the translation I offered earlier, I translated it as Let one person interpret. But this doesn't mean that Paul is saying that if there are two or three utterances in tongues, the same person should give the interpretation for all of them. But more on this in a moment. Finally, Paul's use of the word interpreter in verse 28 is interesting. He says: If there is no interpreter, the speaker (in tongues) should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. The term interpreter clearly indicates that those who exercised the gift of interpretation were seen as permanently possessing the gift. If that were not so, how could the speaker in tongues know whether there was an interpreter present or not? A person who has interpreted once can be expected to do so again. So, if we want to speak in tongues publicly, we need to check that there's an interpreter present. And if there is, we are free to go ahead. Obviously that places a serious responsibility on the interpreter to be ready to interpret at any time, because we do not know when someone is going to speak in tongues. To know more about receiving spiritual gifts, you might like to visit my website (www.davidpetts.org) and listen to two short podcasts I gave in February 2019 (podcasts 018 and 019). B. Practical issues arising from Paul's teaching i. The form the gift should take – prophecy or praise? There's no time to go into much detail about this now, but I have said a bit more in WYCT pp77-79 and more still in Body Builders pp141-144. However, the short answer is this. As we saw last time, tongues can take the form of prayer or praise or giving thanks. So, if the gift of interpretation enables us to understand what is being said when someone speaks in tongues, it follows that the interpretation should take the same form as the tongue, whether prayer, or praise, or thanksgiving etc. But what about 'messages' in tongues where the interpretation sounds like a prophecy? Those who take the view that interpretation should take the form of a prophecy base their argument on 14:5 where Paul says: The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in tongues, unless they interpret so that the church may be edified. The argument goes like this. Prophecy edifies the church. Interpretation edifies the church. Therefore, the interpretation of tongues equals prophecy. But there is a logical flaw in this argument. It's like saying, Tea is a drink. Coffee is a drink. Therefore, tea equals coffee! Paul says that both prophecy and interpretation edify the church, but that does not necessarily mean that they do so in the same way. If, for example, interpretation were to take the form of praise, rather than prophecy, wouldn't it edify the church? And who is not edified by the psalms of praise? I have personally been greatly edified by both forms of interpretation. However, other people insist on praise interpretations and base their argument on the NIV translation of 14:2, which reads: For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him… So, it is argued, if the tongue is to God, the interpretation must be to God, in the form of either praise or prayer. However, a more literal translation would be: For the person speaking in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him… (my translation). This makes clear that the reason for saying that speaking in tongues is to God is that no one can understand it. When the disciples spoke in tongues at Pentecost, did it not speak to men? And why was this? Because they understood what was being said. It follows, therefore, that if tongues in church can be understood through the use of the gift of interpretation, it can most certainly speak to us. So in my view both praise and prophecy style interpretations are legitimate manifestations of the gift, and we should accept and encourage both. ii. Two or at the most three… The meaning is clear, but what should we do if someone brings a fourth utterance in tongues? Should it be interpreted? Of course, this is unlikely to happen if the church has been taught how spiritual gifts should be operated in our meetings. However, if it does happen, what should we do? My view is that it should be interpreted because this would be more edifying for the church which is the basic principle behind Paul's teaching in this passage. For more detail on this, please see WYCT pp79-80. iii. 'Let one person interpret' (v27) I said earlier that the Greek in verse 27 is best translated as, Let one person interpret. This in fact reflects how the Authorised Version translates it and, as a result, some churches have taught that, if there are two or three utterances in tongues, the same person should give the interpretation for all of them. This is a valid application of what Paul is saying, but I think it more likely that his intention is to say that each utterance in tongues needs only one person to interpret it. The unruly members of the Corinthian church needed to hear this. C. Summary 1. Everything we do in church should be edifying to others. 2. Tongues edifies you, but it doesn't edify others, unless it's interpreted. 3. So, the purpose of the gift of interpretation is to edify the church. 4. Tongues may take the form of prayer or praise or prophecy, so interpretations may take any of these forms. 5. We should not speak loudly in tongues unless there is an interpreter there. So we need to be sure there's an interpreter there before we speak out loudly in tongues. 6. If we speak in tongues aloud in church, we should pray for the gift of interpretation, bearing in mind that it's not given to everyone. 7. If you have the gift of interpretation, you have a responsibility to interpret. 8. Tongues and interpretation should occur no more than two or three times in each meeting. 9. Only one person should interpret each message, but it doesn't have to be the same person each time. 10. Since it's so important for tongues in church to be interpreted, we should all wait for the interpretation to be given before doing anything else (like leading in prayer etc.). D. Questions for discussion 1. Why do you think we should all wait for the interpretation to be given before doing anything else? 2. Someone speaks out loud in tongues, but no one else interprets it. You have interpreted tongues in the past, but you don't feel you have the interpretation of this time. What should you do? Hint: See my personal testimony about this, in WYCT pp.81-83 or Body Builders, Ch. 8. 3. Do we need to alter our group's way of doing things to make way for the operation of gifts like tongues and interpretation (and indeed other gifts of the Spirit)?

Let us, as Americans, be humble, kind, considerate, and respectful of one another, and of others. Regardless of conditions or circumstances, we can choose “uncompromising integrity” (tummah). Today is the first day of Muharram,[1] the first month in the Islamic calendar, “a time of mourning and peace,”[1:1] “in which fighting has been forbidden since before the advent of Islam”.[2] However, let us not be naive in believing that Machiavellians in our midst are equally as reverent and wouldn’t sieze the ‘opportunity of crisis’ to use the Kitson counter-gang within the Gladio archipelago to provoke a Strategy of Tension episode. May we choose to maintain our own “uncompromising integrity”, regardless of provocations, conditions, circumstances, or what others choose that may be contrary. What, but good, can come of that…? Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation John 4 KJV 4 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. NASB 4 So then, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that He was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2 (although Jesus Himself was not baptizing; rather, His disciples were), 3 He left Judea and went away again to Galilee. 4 And He had to pass through Samaria Reflection on Scripture: I find the framing of this chapter interesting. Because the Pharisees knew Jesus had gained many disciples it seems he was forced to leave and additionally forced to travel through Samaria, which we will explore in coming weeks. This is an interesting way to phrase it and it can give an interesting idea for what was an imperative for Jesus. In the strictest sense Jesus did not have to do anything. Jehovah did not have to create the universe or anything else after that. These things are consistent with God's character and therefore God chooses them. The only way that God would not choose those things is if he did not have his current character. With that said none of that makes it a foregone conclusion for what God has to do. Perhaps this is very obvious but it is worth pondering on for a moment. God is certainly able to determine His guiding ethics and it is far above human understanding to tell God what he has to do. It is something of a ridiculous notion that the Pharisees could force Jesus to do anything. Even when he was on the cusp of being sent to death, Jesus told Peter he could have called down legions of angels to do His bidding and chose not to. There is literally nothing that the Pharisees could have done, that you could do, that I could do, that would force God to do something that He didn't already determine that He should do. With that said, once God determines to do something, he lays out a plan on what is needed for that to happen, and then he does it. Before the foundation of the earth God determined that Jesus would come to save us all. So when this moment arrived Jesus planned to go to Samaria and talk to the woman at the well. To make that happen he traveled through Samaria consistent with His intent and as such he HAD to go through Samaria. Just as God has executed His actions through all history he continues to do the same for you in yoru life right now. Jesus is God (Sermon Series on John) - Sunday, 14th June 2026[Episode 23 - John Chapter 5 KJV]1. He is equal with God.John 5:19-20 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.2. He is the giver of life.John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;3. He is the final judge.John 5:22-23 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.4. He will determine the eternal destiny of humanity John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.5. He will raise the dead.John 5:25-29 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

When we read a passage like this from St. Isaac, it is tempting to focus on the warnings. We notice his words about passions, distraction, worldliness, anger, vainglory, and talkativeness. We see the severity of his language and immediately begin examining ourselves. Yet I do not think that is where Isaac wants us to begin. He wants us first to behold the beauty. Again and again throughout his writings, Isaac speaks as one who has glimpsed something almost too wonderful for words. He has seen what a human being becomes when Christ reigns in the heart. He has seen the Kingdom hidden within. He has seen the glory for which every man and woman was created. Listen to his words. The country of the pure soul is within. The sun shining there is the Holy Trinity. The air breathed there is the Holy Spirit. Christ Himself is the joy, life, and happiness of that realm. Isaac is describing nothing less than the transfiguration of the human person. So often we think of the spiritual life as self-improvement. We focus on our weaknesses, our failures, our habits, our mistakes. We become preoccupied with ourselves. Even our repentance can become a subtle form of self-absorption. But Isaac speaks of something infinitely greater. He speaks of a life so united to Christ that the human heart becomes a dwelling place of divine glory. He speaks of a man whose deepest identity is no longer found in his wounds, his history, his successes, his failures, or even his struggles. His identity is found in Christ who dwells within him. This is why Isaac can speak of the soul beholding its own beauty. At first this sounds strange to modern ears. We are accustomed either to pride or self-hatred. We know how to admire ourselves and we know how to despise ourselves. We know very little of seeing ourselves truthfully. The saints do not admire themselves. They behold Christ shining within them. They see the image of God being restored. They see the Holy Spirit at work. They see what humanity looks like when it becomes transparent to divine life. And this vision fills them with wonder. To glimpse this beauty is enough to make one weep. Not sentimental tears. The kind of tears that come when one suddenly realizes what God intended from the beginning. The tragedy is that most of us live far beneath this reality. We spend our lives fascinated by lesser things. We cling to distractions. We become consumed with opinions, arguments, comforts, entertainments, possessions, ambitions, resentments, and anxieties. All the while a kingdom lies hidden within us. This is why Isaac's words become so mournful near the end of the passage. “I know not what to say of him,” he writes concerning the man bound to worldly consolations, “except to weep with inconsolable cries of lamentation.” Why such grief? Because Isaac is not merely lamenting moral failure. He is lamenting blindness. He sees human beings starving while seated before a banquet. He sees heirs of the Kingdom living like beggars. He sees those created for divine glory settling for distractions. He sees men and women called to become children of God nursing themselves instead upon the passing consolations of the world. The image that perhaps strikes me most deeply is the one with which he concludes. The man born of God is nursed by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit Himself becomes his nourishment. The Spirit Himself becomes his life. The Spirit Himself becomes his joy. What extraordinary words. Isaac is saying that the Christian life is not ultimately sustained by ideas, techniques, achievements, accomplishments, or even religious activity. It is sustained by communion. The soul learns to live from God. It receives its life from Him as naturally as an infant receives life from its mother. This is the true vocation of every Christian. Not merely to behave better. Not merely to become more religious. Not merely to avoid sin. But to become a living Jerusalem. A dwelling place of the Trinity. A soul illumined by the light of Christ. A child nourished by the Holy Spirit. And once we see this, two kinds of tears appear. The first are tears of wonder. The second are tears of repentance. Wonder because of the beauty for which we were created. Repentance because we have spent so much of our lives looking everywhere except where the Kingdom has been hidden all along. “The Kingdom of God is within you.” Isaac spent his entire life trying to convince us that these words are true. The saints believe them. May God grant that we do as well. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:29:55 Ryan Ngeve: Father I have heard different interpretations of Christ's words in Luke 17. There is a popular expression that says, "Fake it until you make it." Some people have applied this concept to faith; however, you can't fake faith until you get it. Pretending to be in faith doesn't give you the power to receive the things you desire. Instead, be honest with God if you lack faith, and He will help you. __________ Joshua 1:8 KJV, Matthew 14:28–31 KJV, Mark 9:17–25 KJV __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________

God chooses people to do things who seem like the wrong choice to normal eyes. For example, He calls high school dropouts to start colleges, medical doctors to open art galleries, and so on. God specializes in using people who are seemingly the wrong person to do amazing things. If God called you to do it, then you are the perfect person to do it. __________ Corinthians 1:26–29 NIV, Exodus 3:9–10 ERV, Exodus 4:10 ERV, 1 Samuel 9:17,21 ERV, Matthew 13:54–56 KJV, John 1:45–46 KJV __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________
