#04: We really just want to live in Germany w/Chris Farley

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 2, 2020 67:13

In today's episode, we talk with baritone, fellow Enneagram 3, and repertoire nerd Christopher Farley! Chris and I share a similar passion for the art song repertoire, specifically lied, so I knew we had to talk about art song, music learning, and recitals on the podcast. We talk about lieder, art songs, the Enneagram, Alabama, and our processes for learning music. "Come for the music, stay for the Southern accent" - Katelyn Jassoy. **** SUPPORT THE PODCAST: To financially support the creation of this podcast (and help me compensate guests on future episodes), please consider donating to my podcast on Anchor, using my Anchor page's 'donate' button. #03: How to start a business and *thrive* with Annie Calvaneso

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 24, 2020 41:49

In today's episode, we talk with one of the most entrepreneurial people I know... Annie Calvaneso, aka the Glam Fit Diva! I've known about Annie's work for a few years, but really started to get involved in her webinars and programs at the beginning of April... and I know that I am better for it! We talk about the logistics of starting a business, breaking down the imposter syndrome we all feel in our lives and in our businesses, and we also discuss how we both cannot do anything without laughing. ;) Quote we tried to read: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness That most frightens us. We ask ourselves Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, As children do. We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others. **** SUPPORT THE PODCAST: To financially support the creation of this podcast (and help me compensate guests on future episodes), please consider donating to my podcast on Anchor, using my Anchor page's 'donate' button. In today's episode, we are talking to another one of my favorite humans, Soprano Danika Fernandez! Danika is a fellow NYC-based soprano and voice teacher... so we figured today we would discuss our experiences and advice for private teaching. We (sort of) discuss teaching and advice but also address our obsession with trashy reality TV (hello My 600-Pound Life) and our quarantine experiences, which just so happen to include a LOT of TikTok and emails. **** SUPPORT THE PODCAST: To financially support the creation of this podcast (and help me compensate guests on future episodes), please consider donating to my podcast on Anchor, using my Anchor page's 'donate' button. #01: Musical Theatre, Conservatory, and NYC (oh my!)

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 4, 2020 52:19

In today's episode, we are talking to one of my favorite humans, mezzo-Soprano Katelyn Jassoy! Katelyn is a successful professional singer, actor, and activist living in New York City. Katelyn experiences the best of both worlds, actively performing in both musical theatre and opera. We discuss what it's like going to a conservatory with a primary focus on classical voice and opera, while also having an agent for musical theatre and actively managing both careers and technical styles. We also discuss a little bit of what it is like being graduate students, NYC's famous magnolia bakery, our alarm clock sounds, and the realities of living in New York City. **** SUPPORT THE PODCAST: To financially support the creation of this podcast (and help me compensate guests on future episodes), please consider donating to my podcast on Anchor, using my Anchor page's 'donate' button.
