A true story adventure, of a perilous journey into a vast, dangerous ocean... and the three complete strangers, on a tiny boat, trying to survive it. In February of 1999, 26-year-old U.S. Naval Submarine Officer Cameron Thurman set out from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to Yokosuka, Japan, aboard a 32-foot sailboat. Cameron was accompanied by a crew of two complete strangers: Japanese free-spirit and surfer Hiroki, and Polish family man Charlie. Charlie was the only one of the trio with any significant sailing experience.  It was a journey intended to take less than 30 days; it would stretch on for 45 days, testing and pushing them - and the boat - to their limits. Their survival hinged entirely on their ability to communicate with, rely upon and trust in each other, despite their differences. If they were going to survive, they would have to make it through a storm that neither they nor their boat were prepared for.

Surviving The Lillinoe is by far the best podcast I have ever listened to. From the moment I started listening, I was hooked and couldn't stop after the first episode. This gripping story would make an incredible movie and kept me captivated throughout with its thrilling and captivating narrative. I found myself squirming in my seat at times due to the intense moments and cliffhangers that kept me on edge. It is an amazing adventure filled with excitement, humor, and resilience that I recommend to everyone.

The best aspect of this podcast is undoubtedly the storytelling. Cameron Thurman, the narrator, is a fantastic storyteller who brings the story to life with his general excitement in everything he does. His enthusiasm and passion for the journey are infectious, and he keeps the pace fast-paced and engaging throughout. The way he tells their story, from battling storms to relying on each other's trust, makes you feel like you're right there with them. Additionally, Thurman seamlessly weaves insight and life/spiritual lessons into the story, adding depth and meaning to their experiences.

One downside of this podcast is that it may not be for everyone. If you are not a fan of true adventures or stories of resilience, you may not enjoy it as much as others. Additionally, while Thurman does an excellent job describing technical sailing terms in relatable and digestible terms for those unfamiliar with sailing, there may still be some instances where listeners without any knowledge of sailing might feel lost or confused by certain terminology.

In conclusion, Surviving The Lillinoe is a must-listen podcast that combines adventure, suspense, humor, and resilience in a captivating narrative. Cameron Thurman's storytelling abilities bring the story to life in a way that leaves you feeling like you were right there on the boat with him and his crew. This podcast is more than just a survival story; it's about human connections and the power of trust in the face of adversity. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves true adventures and stories that inspire.
