On this episode I had the opportunity to connect with my brother and friend Dr. Wilson Okello about Coming to Voice: What Does It Mean To Find Yourself in Writing. Because voice will materialize different for each of us, this was a deeply personal conversation about the philosophies of voice and writing. Dr. Okello suggest that perhaps its not a coming to voice we should focus on but rather remembering or reclaiming our voices in the writing process. We discuss what it means to rehearse your writing and explore what does it mean to tap into our histories, legacies, and ancestors as we invite them into the space as we center our voice.
With Dr. Huerta and Scholar Jackson, we discuss our interpretations and philosophies of critical work, how to advance it, and how to sustain ourselves in the process.
On this episode I had a dynamic conversation with Dr. OiYan Poon and Dr. Charles H. F. Davis on Writing for the Public and Public Scholarship. Throughout the episode they share insightful reflections on what public scholarship is, who gets to be a public intellectual, how to approach writing in these ways, and the critical need for answerability as perhaps a prerequisite to that this work.
In this first episode, I am joined by Dr. Chris Linder and Dr. Lamesha Brown who discuss with me tips, strategies, and philosophies of feedback; what to do with it; and how to move our projects forward after receiving it!
