Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Ashley Christopher. Interview Summary: Ashley Christopher on Money Making Conversations Masterclass Guest: Ashley ChristopherHost: Rushion McDonaldPlatform: Money Making Conversations MasterclassFocus: HBCU access, scholarships, STEM pipeline, purpose-driven leadership Overall Summary Ashley Christopher shares the origin, growth, and impact of the HBCU Week Foundation, which she founded in 2017 to increase enrollment at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), remove financial barriers, and create direct pathways from high school to college and corporate America. What began as a local Wilmington, Delaware initiative evolved into a national movement that has facilitated over 10,000 on-the-spot HBCU acceptances and nearly $100 million in scholarships, including a landmark $40 million STEM scholarship partnership. The conversation blends entrepreneurship, education equity, resilience, faith, and purpose, highlighting how lived experience and authentic mission can scale social impact. Purpose of the Interview To spotlight the HBCU Week Foundation and its measurable outcomes (acceptances, scholarships, STEM investment). To educate families and students about on-the-spot college acceptance and scholarship opportunities. To inspire purpose-driven leadership, particularly among Black entrepreneurs and community leaders. To demonstrate how local solutions can scale nationally when rooted in authenticity and impact. To share a personal story of resilience, including surviving a stroke at age 29 and redefining purpose. Key Takeaways 1. Access Changes Outcomes HBCU Week’s on-the-spot acceptance model allows eligible students to receive immediate college decisions and scholarship offers at a live college fair. This removes prolonged uncertainty and barriers that often discourage first-generation and underserved students. Students bring their transcript, SAT/ACT scores, meet with an HBCU counselor, and can be accepted immediately. 2. HBCUs Are a Pipeline to Opportunity Ashley emphasizes that HBCUs are not just cultural institutions, but talent pipelines into corporate America, particularly for STEM fields. Enrollment growth and scholarship funding are as critical as brand awareness. 3. The Power of Strategic Partnerships A relationship that began with seven $40,000 STEM scholarships grew into a $40 million partnership with the American Chemistry Council. The goal: addressing a projected STEM workforce deficit while increasing diversity in the field. The partnership now supports 1,000 students committed to STEM majors at HBCUs, with nearly 600 awards already distributed. 4. Purpose Can Be Born From Crisis Ashley shares her experience of having a stroke at age 29, caused by birth control use, which required her to relearn how to write and regain physical mobility. The experience intensified her sense of urgency, discipline, and purpose. Surviving the stroke shifted her mindset from ambition to intentional impact. 5. Authentic Passion Fuels Scalable Impact Ashley never intended HBCU Week to become national—it was designed to serve students in her hometown. Growth occurred organically because the mission was authentic, focused, and student-centered. “When you love what you do and have a real passion behind the impact, it catches on.” Notable Quotes On Mission & Growth “The goal was to take care of the students in my hometown… I had no idea it would become national.” On On-the-Spot Acceptance “If you have the requisite GPA and SAT or ACT score, you can be admitted right there.” On HBCUs & STEM “If everybody around the table looks the same, we’re in trouble.” On Faith & Opportunity “I can’t take credit for it… but for my relationship with God, this wouldn’t be a thing.” On Purpose After Adversity “It created a different sense of drive and purpose in me.” On Impact “If I can’t help tier-one students, who can?” Conclusion The interview positions Ashley Christopher as a systems builder, not just a nonprofit founder. Her work demonstrates how education access, strategic partnerships, and lived experience can intersect to change thousands of lives. The conversation reinforces that scalable impact often starts with a local problem, clear values, and relentless execution. #BEST #STRAW #SHMSSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A listener recently asked us a question that many homeschool co-ops eventually face: What do you do when a family wants to participate… but simply can't afford the fees? Should co-ops offer scholarships or benevolence funds? If they do, how do you decide who receives help? Where does the money come from? And how do you create a system that is both compassionate and sustainable? If your co-op has ever wrestled with balancing generosity and responsibility, this conversation is for you. In this episode, Matt and Ryan welcome Dr. Hilleary Himes from Penn State for a lively conversation about advising scholarship, professional development, and why the history of academic advising matters more than we might think. Hilleary shares her unexpected journey from anthropology and archaeological digs to academic advising, reflects on how advising structures shape student experiences, and offers practical encouragement for advisors who want to turn everyday questions, conference presentations, or “hmm, I wonder…” moments into scholarship.Hilleary digs into the publication process, including revise-and-resubmit realities, co-authoring, writing routines, and how rejection can be reframed as part of making the work stronger. Plus, Hilleary explains how long-distance running and long-form writing have more in common than expected: stamina, patience, and trusting the process one step at a time. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced her intent this month to opt into the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit—also known as the Education Freedom Tax Credit. That makes her the 30th governor to signal support, and the second Democrat to do so, after Jared Polis of Colorado.Congress created this tax credit last year as the first federal program designed to expand K–12 educational choice nationwide. Beginning in 2027 all taxpayers can take up to $1,700 in federal tax credits for donations to qualified scholarship granting organizations. The U.S. Treasury and Department of Education estimate the program could generate $24 billion in new education funding every year. That's enough to fund private school tuition for tens of thousands of students—or tutoring for hundreds of thousands more. But here's the catch: children only benefit if their governor opts in. And Oregon's Governor Kotek, has declined. Last summer she said that she did not intend to participate. More recently, saying that she's waiting for final federal regulations.Whether Oregon opts in or not, Oregonians can still take the tax credit by donating to scholarship nonprofits in other states. If Oregon stays out, however, those dollars will support students elsewhere, not here at home.Opting in won't cost Oregon's budget a dime and it doesn't impact public school funding. It simply allows Oregonians to direct private charitable dollars towards scholarships for Oregon's kids.Thirty states have already said yes. Oregon should, too.For Cascade Policy Institute, I'm Naomi Inman.Learn more at www.cascadepolicy.org

#BEST #STRAW #SHMSSteve Harvey Morning Show Online: http://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Codex Vaticanus is often regarded as a pillar of New Testament scholarship, ancient, authoritative, and decisive. In From Erasmus to Maius: The History of Codex Vaticanus in New Testament Textual Scholarship (de Gruyter, 2024) published by De Gruyter in 2024, Dr An-Ting Yi shows that this status was anything but inevitable.Rather than focusing on the manuscript's text, Dr Yi traces how Vaticanus gradually became authoritative. For centuries, it was known but rarely usable, constrained by restricted access, archival control, and scholarly methods that could not yet make sense of it. Only with nineteenth-century methodological shifts and, crucially, with its first printed edition did Vaticanus acquire the authority it now seems always to have had. The book's core insight is simple and powerful. Manuscripts do not possess fixed authority. They gain it through methods, institutions, and infrastructures. Well argued and meticulously researched, Dr Yi's study is less about a single manuscript than about how scholarly canons are formed, stabilised, and remembered. From Erasmus to Maius invites readers to rethink not only textual criticism but also the construction of academic authority. Dana sits down with Whitney Howerton, RDH, to unpack a career that didn't follow a straight path. Whitney shares how an initial goal of becoming a dentist shifted into dental hygiene, then evolved into clinical practice, education, industry leadership, and eventually a vice president role within a global dental company. What stands out isn't a perfectly mapped plan, but a pattern: she stayed engaged, said yes to aligned opportunities, and continued building skills that translated across settings. This episode is a must-hear no matter where you are in your dental hygiene journey!

In this week's episode of The Bible for Normal People, Jared takes listeners on a tour through the history of modern biblical scholarship, tracing key “aha moments” that changed how scholars understand the Bible. From source criticism and the Documentary Hypothesis to oral tradition and the rise of fundamentalism, he explores how new questions about the Bible's origins reshaped both academia and the church. Together, these developments invite listeners to see the Bible not as a static text dropped from heaven, but as a deeply human collection of traditions formed over time. It's PowerShell After Dark. Recorded live at the PowerShell & DevOps Global Summit in Bellevue, Washington, host Andrew Pla takes his mic to the hotel bar for a series of candid conversations with attendees. The episode features four guests: Josh Gratton, an OnRamp scholarship recipient whose career pivot to junior systems engineer was fueled by PowerShell and the podcast; Mark Go, a first-time Summit speaker and attendee; Craig Mileham, a fellow podcast listener and Summit first-timer working in higher ed IT; and Matt Zaske, a longtime community member, conference speaker, and IoT enthusiast who ran a Home Assistant lightning demo. What connects all four conversations is the same thread Andrew keeps pulling on: community makes everything better. Beginners belong here. Reach out. Take the risk. Start now. Key Takeaways: The OnRamp scholarship program is genuinely life-changing for early-career IT professionals. Josh Gratton's story, from service desk to systems engineer to Summit attendee, is a direct line from PowerShell to career transformation, and it started with applying for a scholarship he poured his heart into. Showing up in person changes something. Every guest in this episode described the in-real-life version of the PowerShell community as warmer, more welcoming, and more accessible than they expected. The gap between "online community" and "your people" closes fast when you're in the same room. Reaching out is not just encouraged, it's the move. Andrew makes the case clearly: the people who message him, who post in Discord, who ask questions in public, those are the ones he sees succeed. Suffering in silence is optional. So is waiting. Guest Bios: Josh Gratton is an IT professional who made a mid-career pivot from 15 years in a different field to the service desk, then leveraged PowerShell automation to earn a promotion to his company's systems engineering team. A 2026 OnRamp scholarship recipient, Josh attended his first PowerShell & DevOps Global Summit in Bellevue and left planning to present at a future Summit and bring a colleague along next year. Mark Go is an IT professional and active member of the PDQ Discord community who attended the 2026 PowerShell & DevOps Global Summit. He served as Andrew's cameraman during the Summit's After Dark session and is known in the community for his IoT work, including speaking at Summit. He's a returning podcast guest, Powershell Wednesday and Summit speaker. Mark brings a hardware-forward perspective to PowerShell, with interests in soldering and embedded systems. Craig Mileham is a PowerShell Podcast listener and Summit first-timer who works for an MSP in the higher ed space. He attended this year's Summit to absorb as much as possible and left energized to build internal tools for his help desk team and share what he learned at PowerShell Wednesday. This guy is really awesome Matt Zaske is an IT professional, conference speaker, and community member based in Minnesota. A regular presence at events like MMS, Matt is also an avid Home Assistant enthusiast who bridges the gap between PowerShell and IoT hardware. He ran a lightning demo at the 2026 Summit, taught attendees how to solder, and blogs regularly at mzonline.com. You can also find him on LinkedIn and Bluesky. 3d printing legend. Starting off as a new grad dental hygienist can feel less like a transition and more like a sudden increase in expectations—on your time, your body, and your decision-making. Dana is sharing all the tips she wishes she had as a new grad hygienist! This episode centers on a simple but often overlooked skill: daily reflection. When you begin to notice your timing, your stress, your pain levels, and the small inefficiencies in your operatory, you start to see patterns—and patterns are what allow you to make meaningful adjustments. One practical takeaway: at the end of each day, rate your pain and stress on a scale of 1–10 and identify one friction point you can improve tomorrow, whether that's adjusting your instrumentation sequence, modifying your setup, or investing in tools that support your ergonomics. Over time, these small, consistent changes protect both your clinical performance and your long-term health.

Kingdom Realities of the Holy Spirit | KWR0060 Kingdom War Room Description In this powerful episode of the Kingdom War Room, Dr. Michael Lake, Dr. Mike Spaulding, and Dr. Corby Shuey confront many of the theological errors and spiritual deceptions that have infiltrated the modern charismatic movement. Together, they examine the true biblical role of the Holy Spirit, the difference between the New Birth and Spirit empowerment, the misuse of spiritual gifts, and the growing danger of counterfeit signs and wonders in the last days. The discussion moves deeply into Scripture, exposing how emotionalism, entertainment-driven Christianity, and modern mystical movements have replaced authentic discipleship and intimacy with God. The team also explores the biblical purpose of the gifts of the Spirit, the importance of the fruit of the Spirit, discernment regarding modern revival movements, and how believers can prepare spiritually for the rise of deception connected to the Antichrist system. This episode is a sobering but encouraging call for believers to return to covenant faithfulness, authentic prayer, deep study of the Word of God, and genuine intimacy with Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Kingdom War Room #60 challenges the remnant to move beyond hype and emotionalism into a Spirit-led life grounded in truth, holiness, discernment, and the Word of God.

College admission doesn't have to be terrifying, unaffordable, or a giant mystery. In this episode, global educational consultant Shellee Howard of College Ready joins Robert Plank to break down how families can navigate college admissions strategically instead of emotionally. Shellee explains why “no one gets into college anymore” and “there's no scholarship money” are myths, how her Class of 2026 students earned $10.3M+ in scholarships with 100% college acceptance, and why there is a “perfect-fit college” for every student (including tuition‑free options). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnwsMD-hagQ You'll hear a candid discussion on the truth about college vs. trade school, why “influencer” is not a career plan without real skills, and how AI is reshaping which majors and careers will still exist in four years. Most importantly, Shellee shares her process for helping students answer the hardest question, “Who are you?” So they can package themselves, stand out beyond GPA and test scores, and use college as a stepping stone to a meaningful future instead of an expensive dead end. Quotes: “Teach your child to love reading and to think for themselves, and they will be able to learn anything they ever want to learn for the rest of their life.” “College is a stepping stone to their future, not the end game. When students know who they are and what they're good at, the path actually gets easier.” “Do what you love and the money will come. I'm not talking about a hobby—I'm talking about a career you deeply enjoy. People ask me when I'm going to retire; why would I ever retire when I love inspiring teenagers?” Contact Details: Connect with Shellee Howard on FacebookConnect with Shellee Howard on LinkedInShellee Howard Official Website
