ULTRAfun podcast spent a great evening talking with Jimmy Brown for this episode. Jimmy, along with wife Paula and son Jacob have been a part of the GOATz family for a number of years and as a family have made many contributions to the group during their time with us.We'll find out how Jimmy went from tennis to 100 milers and how the draw of Western States pushed him to train hard and build lifelong bonds with friends and family as he prepared for his shot at the coveted Western States buckle.Even more important to Jimmy than running is his faith and connecting with others to help them on and off the trail. You'll learn about this passion as we find about the ministry called Runner Church. Started to help runners and walkers of all levels find a place to share their faith or even just find out what it's all about, Runner Church has had a growing number of people enjoy the fellowship before several races. So relax and grab those earbuds....or get out for that run/walk and let's see what Jimmy has to say!Links mentioned in the interview:Runner Church on FacebookRunner Church web siteSee you in Squaw - The Jimmy Brown Story
Aaaaaaand we're back! Now that the Hitchcock Experience 13.1/50/100 has come to a close, it's high time for Episode 2. I had the pleasure of spending the evening with John Krecek, Chris Hug and Kayleen Joyce, who have taken over ownership of the Oasis aid station at the Hitchcock Experience race the last two years.Race volunteers usually fly under the radar, but it's no stretch when I say the race can't happen without a dedicated group of people that volunteer their time to ensure the runners have a great experience. In this episode we talk to John, Chris and Kayleen about what goes into getting ready for a race, the satisfaction they get from helping runners and the bond that forms between them over the course of 30+ hours of volunteering at a 100 mile race.I hope this episode gives you a little insight and appreciation into the "other side" of races. Enjoy!
