We think we used to like it, or found it funny, or entertaining, but really, Was It Any Good? Scott Johnson watches with you, and helps answer the question. TV, movies, animation, etc. Scott watches the subject in real time, and finds out once and for all, was it any good?
Today our suggestion comes from Thomas Chambers, who suggests I watch Season 4 episode 11 of The Andy Griffith Show, an episode called Citizen's Arrest. I was too young to ever see any of these when they aired as new episodes, but the reruns were on in my house constantly most of my young life. I remember being really into it for some reason, but I could barely tell you much about the series now. So, let's find out if Andy Griffith was any good.
Today I take a suggestion from a listener to the show, @tekdrudge on twitter, who says I need to watch an episode of Barney Miller. I agree with him! Specifically season 3, episode 11: Hash. Ironically, that was the exact same season and episode number of last episode, which was MASH, which also incidentally rhymes with HASH. I feel like barney miller was a show my dad really loved, and I think of it as the show that had the Bishop guy in it before Serenity, but none of that matters: We need to ask the question, was it any good?
Today I take a recommendation from a listener to the show, Aaron Fiedler, who says I need to watch an episode of MASH. I agree Aaron, and we are gonna go to an early season one. Specifically season 3, episode 11: Adam's Rib. MASH reruns were a staple in my house growing up and I already know I love it, but, we need to ask, for real, was it any good?
Today I take a recommendation from a listener to the show, Brian, who says I need to watch S6E25 of Three's Company, with an episode called ‘Up In The Air'. To quote the emailer, “It's Peak John Ritter”. It feels like a hundred years since I've seen Three's Company, considered forbidden fruit in my house growing up, so what better time than now to check it out?
Today we read a page from the book of The Beverly Hillbillies, specifically the episode IMDB says is the best episode of the entire series. S1E6, titled ‘Trick or Treat'. I have not seen this recently, and neither have you, so here we go...in real time, The Beverly Hillbillies, and the episode Trick or Treat.
I Love Lucy. Was It Any Good? Maybe. It mostly depends on how briliant you think Lucy is. She makes or breaks that show it turns out.
A new show experiment: Was It Any Good. Today we start with The Jeffersons S7E14. Was it any good? Did it make me laugh in 2021? Did it have something to say beyond the simple jokes of its time? Find out and give it a listen.
