As I am recording this podcast, we have just passed the 7th anniversary of the attack and forced closure of Early Rain Church in Chengdu, China, and the arrest of Pastor Wang Yi, on December 9th, 2018. Follow me on X (@chinaadventures) where I share, among other things, daily reminders to pray for China. Also, feel free to email any questions or comments to bfwesten at gmail dot com. And last but not least, learn more about (most of) our strategic prayer and missions projects @ PrayGiveGo.us! Early Rain Attack Updates Last week I read the Wang Yi family newsletter that was published just 12 days before his arrest on Dec 9, 2018. This week I will be sharing a handful of updates that were put out by unnamed Early Rain Church members in the immediate aftermath of the attack and arrest of the pastor and most of the leadership. As the writer mentions in one of the updates, there was no guarantee that the next update would ever come. Arrests were ongoing at the original time of publishing. I tried (unsuccessfully) to just read these powerful proclamations, only pausing to comment when absolutely necessary. On my Substack (ChinaCompass.substack.com) you will find the written version today’s podcast: https://chinacall.substack.com/p/early-rain-forcibly-closed-pastor Last but not least, when mentioning this week’s special resource, The Memoirs of William Milne (PrayGiveGo.us), I shared how after 200+ years of missions in China things have come full circle. For nearly three decades, Tanya Jackson was a nameless victim — known only as "Peaches" because of a tattoo on her chest. Her dismembered torso was found in 1997. Her arms, legs, and her two-year-old daughter's remains were discovered in 2011 during the Gilgo Beach investigation. Everyone assumed she belonged to the Long Island Serial Killer. Everyone was wrong. This week, police arrested Andrew Dykes, 66, in Florida — and charged him with murdering both Tanya Jackson and her daughter Tatiana. The twist that changes everything: Dykes is Tatiana's biological father. He allegedly killed his own child and the woman who was raising her, then scattered their bodies across Long Island in a pattern so similar to the Gilgo Beach killings that investigators spent years looking at the wrong suspect. Rex Heuermann faces trial for seven Gilgo Beach murders. But he didn't kill Tanya Jackson. He didn't kill Baby Doe. While the world focused on the architect with the kill lists, Andrew Dykes was living freely in Florida — even cooperating with police as recently as April 2025. This case exposes a hard truth: Gilgo Beach wasn't one killer's graveyard. It was a dumping ground for multiple predators. And the assumption that Peaches belonged to the serial killer let her real killer walk free for twenty-eight years. Tanya Jackson was a U.S. Army veteran from Alabama. She was 26. Her daughter was 2. They were never reported missing. They waited almost three decades for their names back — and for someone to finally answer for what was done to them. The suppression hearing for Luigi Mangione took a turn when prosecutors introduced a photo taken moments after his arrest — a photo showing Mangione had urinated on himself inside the Altoona McDonald's. It's an image that stops you cold. Not because of shock value, but because of what it reveals about the moment the most-wanted man in America realized the chase was over. In Part One of this interview, retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony Brueski to break down why that single photo may tell investigators more than any manifesto or ghost gun ever could. We walk through the body-camera footage: Mangione sitting alone, mask on, seemingly composed. Then officers approach, ask him to take his mask down, and the moment he gives his real name — not the fake one he tried first — everything changes. What the public didn't see until now is what happened physically and psychologically when he understood he was caught. We explore: • Why suspects lose bodily control under acute stress — what that usually signals in federal cases. • How this undercuts the online mythology painting Mangione as a controlled ideologue or “avenger.” • What this moment says about whether he intended to flee, fight, or — as some experts argue — quietly surrender. • Why the defense wants the entire arrest scene suppressed, including the photo, the body-cam, and the items pulled from his backpack. • Whether the image of Mangione's loss of control will ever reach a jury — and what it means if it doesn't. It's not about humiliation. It's about behavior, stress indicators, and whether Mangione was the calculating assassin some people imagine — or a man completely overwhelmed the moment officers confronted him. This single photo may become one of the most significant pieces of evidence in understanding his mindset just seconds before the arrest. We Like Shooting Episode 640 This episode of We Like Shooting is brought to you by: Midwest Industries, Die Free Co., Medical Gear Outfitters, Mitchell Defense, Rost Martin, and Swampfox Optics Welcome to the We Like Shooting Show, episode 640! Our cast tonight is Jeremy Pozderac, Savage1r, Jon Patton, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! - Gear Chat Nick - KRG Bravo Unplugged KRG Bravo Shawn - GLOCK Unveils Ergonomically Enhanced Generation 6 Models ## Key Points Summary Intro This summary captures the main takeaways from the Glock Gen 6 launch coverage featuring John from the Warrior Poet Society. The discussion centers on design changes, practical improvements, and shooting impressions, with notes on market timing and pricing. Sponsorships were not part of the core content. Center Key design changes and their practical impact - Grip and texture: The new texture sits between Gen 4 and RTF2; two backstraps including a palm swell are provided. The texture extends higher on both sides for a more secure hold, especially in hot conditions. - Ergonomics: Deeper trigger guard undercut reduces the “Glock knuckle” issue; the grip surface is larger, improving surface area for those with bigger hands; the grip shape swells in the midsection for a more natural wrap. - Controls: Deeper slide serrations, especially on top, enhance manipulation from either end of the slide. The ambidextrous slide release remains, and the pistol uses a single recoil spring (as in earlier generations) while retaining some material from the B-series. - Magwell and contour: The magwell is more flared; the overall contour resembles a topographic map, broadening the hand placement area and increasing leverage for a stronger grip. - Gas pedals and holster compatibility: Gas pedals are built into the frame on both sides with material reduced to protect compatibility with Gen 5 holsters; the goal is a functional improvement without forcing new holsters. - Optics and plates: The plate system is not MOS; it uses a polymer insert that sits lower on the slide and acts like a crush washer under tension. Footprints include Delta Point and RMR; optic-ready configuration remains, with some models rumored to feature polymer sights. - Sights and optics readiness: The factory setup is optics-ready, with some early photos showing polymer sight options. - Barrel and reliability: The Marksman barrel remains, but the extractor housing has been redesigned to be removable for easier maintenance and to reduce installation errors. - Handling and feel: The grip bite is strong but not overly tacky, enabling fast, controlled manipulations without the gun sticking to the hand. Models, availability, and pricing - US launch models: Gen 617 (with Glock 47 form factor), 19-length slide paired to a full-size grip (G45-like); overseas, Glock 49 appears as a variant. - Optics-ready configuration: All examples are MOS-ready or compatible, with plates included for common footprints. - Pricing and timing: MSRP is anticipated around $750; production units were slated to begin arriving in January, with possible earlier availability as information evolves. - Accessories and maintenance: An updated extractor housing system is highlighted as simplifying field maintenance and reducing failure risks due to improper screw length. User experience and feedback - Hand feel: The curved, swollen midsection improves leverage and comfort; the grip texture provides secure grip without excessive tackiness, avoiding slip during rapid manipulation. - Shooting impressions: A large, controlled sampling (nine pistols and thousands of rounds) yielded consistent ejection and reliable cycling during demonstrations; full independent testing will further validate reliability. - Community notes: Gen 5 users worried about slide-lock issues may benefit from deeper cuts and reinforced stops; modular grip options were not part of the initial rollout, though patent activity suggests ongoing development. Outro Takeaway: Gen 6 Glock delivers meaningful ergonomic and grip improvements, while maintaining optics readiness and reliability expectations. The US market rollout is aimed for January with a target MSRP near $750; overseas options include Glock 49. Next steps include comprehensive independent testing, longer-term reliability data, and broader real-world reviews. Stay tuned for updates, and consider price-alert subscriptions for stock and accessory availability. WLS is Lifestyle Hoover's Legal Rollercoaster ## Key Points Summary,**Intro**,This summary distills the latest developments surrounding Matt Hoover, the CRS Firearms creator, after a lengthy legal battle tied to the so-called “auto key card.” The focus is on the factual timeline, legal questions, and current status as Hoover emerges from federal prison into a halfway house. The material below omits sponsorship references and concentrates on the core events and implications for Hoover, his case, and ongoing appeals., ,**Centerpiece Facts & Timeline**,,- **Subject and backdrop**: Matt Hoover, known for the CRS Firearms YouTube channel, was linked to advertisements for the auto key card—a novelty item featuring a lightning-link-like etching intended to imply automatic-fire capability. The item did not function as advertised, and there is no evidence Hoover owned, sold, or manufactured machine guns or auto key cards.,- **Arrest and charge**: Despite the nonfunctional etching and absence of direct ownership or manufacturing activity, Hoover was arrested and charged with trafficking machine guns. The case connected him to Christopher Justin Irvin, the creator of the auto key card.,- **Sentencing dynamics**: The pre-sentencing report highlighted Hoover's clean criminal record and his role as the family's primary breadwinner, presenting a favorable background for leniency. Yet, prosecutors sought the maximum sentence, arguing aggressive measures despite the limited direct involvement in weapon manufacture or sales.,- **Contested assertions**: The government asserted extreme accusations, including a claim that Hoover married to prevent her testimony, despite Hoover and his wife sharing multiple children. These assertions drew skepticism and counter-arguments during proceedings and appellate discussions.,- **Gag order controversy**: The government attempted to impose gag orders on journalists covering the case. Those efforts were challenged and ultimately overturned, favoring press freedom and coverage of the proceedings.,- **Appeals process**: Hoover and Irvin both appealed their convictions to the Eleventh Circuit. The Eleventh Circuit heard the appeal in September, but no published decision had been issued at the time of reporting. The appellate discussion centers on evidentiary standards, the government's interpretation of the auto key card's legal status, and potential misapplications of trafficking statutes given the novelty item's nonfunctional nature.,- **Current status**: Hoover has been released from federal prison into a halfway house to serve the remainder of his sentence, effectively transitioning from confinement to supervised community-based placement. He is not at home, but he is no longer in a traditional prison setting. The case remains active on appeal, with the circuit court's decision pending.,- **Context and implications**: The broader implications touch on how prosecutors frame “trafficking” related to nonfunctional or novelty items, the evidentiary boundaries for associating creators with distributors, and the practical impact on families and communities tied to defendants in high-profile cases.,- **Public calls to action**: Viewers and supporters are encouraged to engage with ongoing legal debates, follow the Eleventh Circuit decision when released, and participate in related community discussions. Acknowledgment of the current status, while staying tuned for further updates,

The Oster Conspiracy and the Resilience of the Fellowship: Colleague Charles Spicer discusses the 1938 crisis, focusing on the "Oster Conspiracy," a credible German plot to arrest Hitler that was undermined by Prime Minister Chamberlain's appeasement visits; despite the shock of Kristallnacht, the Anglo-German Fellowship remained a crucial channel for intelligence, with reports from Conwell-Evans regarding Ribbentrop discussed in the British Cabinet, proving that high-quality intelligence was reaching decision-makers, though the British government prioritized diplomatic engagement over supporting internal regime change, missing a significant opportunity to stop the dictator. 1938

Today's Headlines: Federal investigators finally arrested a suspect in the January 6th pipe bomb case — 30-year-old Brian Cole Jr. — though AG Pam Bondi says they still don't know the motive and didn't get any new tips. Meanwhile, pardoned J6 defendant Taylor Taranto popped up near Rep. Jamie Raskin's house, prompting another bump in security during what's starting to feel like a never-ending wave of threats. The DOJ is also trying to re-indict Letitia James and James Comey after their earlier cases collapsed thanks to the administration forgetting you actually need legitimate prosecutors. A new grand jury declined to indict James on mortgage fraud, and the GAO has now opened an investigation into FHFA director Bill Pulte — the guy reportedly cooking up the bogus mortgage probes against Trump enemies. Trump declared he's solved war again, announcing “peace” between Rwanda and militant forces in the DRC… despite fighting still happening. Over in the real war he can't magically fix, Putin rejected the latest Ukraine peace draft after chats with Kushner & Witkoff. And according to a leaked call, European leaders warned Zelensky that the U.S. might screw Ukraine over in negotiations. At home, the Supreme Court ruled 6–3 that Texas can use its aggressively gerrymandered congressional map for 2026 — a huge boost to Republicans. In”people who won't go away” news, Mike Lindell is now running for governor of Minnesota. And finally, the NFL announced new uniform field-safety standards for all stadiums by 2028, presumably so players stop shredding their knees to enhance player safety. During a press conference announcing the charges, Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed “search warrants are being executed, and there could be more charges to come.” She added: “Let me be clear. The New York Times, as well as the White House, dispute that Hegseth explicitly authorized the second strike or ordered to eliminate survivors. The NYT also reports that the “U.S. military intercepted radio communications from one of the survivors to what [officials] said were narco-traffickers.” 3:50pm- Christmas music, Be Nice to Matt Week is getting cut short, and did a munchkin actually hang himself on the set of The Wizard of Oz? 4:05pm- During an interview with The Atlantic, Pennsylvania Gov.
