Thanks for becoming a listener! “Yooooo Did You See... ?” is a new podcast where brother & sister Leda Kay and Dee Steele talk on different television episodes, movies and even things on the internet they’ve watched recently. Like most who lead really busy lives, there’s this idea out there that if…
Yo, did you see Voltron: Legacy Defender on Netflix? Fam listen, if you are someone that appreciates anime and/or cartoon series, then this is definitely an episode for you! In Episode 8 of the "Yo, did you see...?!?" podcast, Derek invited a great friend of his, fellow 80s baby and anime consumer extraordinaire Jo'rell Whitfield to talk about Voltron. As long time fans since the 80s of the Voltron cartoon, they touch on a lot of different aspect of the Netflix series in a way you may not hear on other platforms. This episode is a little different since this is a show Leda Kay and Dee Steele don't both watch. So, Leda Kay is with us in spirit on this one. Jo'rell and Dee talk about the rich history of the show, compare it to other anime/cartoons they grew up watching, talk about their favorite characters and even let us know how many daps they give the series. Listen in and let us know what you think! #BeBoldBeIntentionalBeFree and #LiveLegendary
In episode 7, I hit up Leda Kay to see if she finally saw the CBS series "The Good Fight", a continuation of a TV favorite "The Good Wife". The series pick up after Alicia Florrick leaves her firm, Diane is leaving too and she joins Chicago's most successful black owned and led firm. Luca, Elsbeth, Diane, and a lot of our favorites are back too. Our special guest today is our Mama Sylvia. We give a decent background if you never watched, and do our best to capture it all in one episode. The story, plot and characters was really dope and connect to whats happening today. Listen in, and feel free to give us your two cents on what we captured, what you think we missed. Looking forward to hearing from you!
In episode 6, I hit up Leda Kay to see if she saw Netflix's "Seven Seconds", a single season 12 episode drama, probably one of the best I've seen on Netflix. This show tells a really dense story about the black experience with the law enforcement and judicial systems, how justice is never received even if law enforcement is in the wrong. The story, plot and character development was really dope and all too real. Leda and I did our best to capture it all in one episode but honestly I'm sure we didn't do the show its full justice. Tell you what, listen in, then call in and give us your two cents on what we captured, what you think we missed and I'm going to pick the best commentary to be on the next episode about this show that we will do that will pick up all the pieces we missed. Looking forward to hearing from you!
This episode, Netflix finally gave us season 2 of "Dear White People" and I couldn't wait to watch it. In fact, Nicole and I finished the entire season in two evenings. Lol Yea we definitely went hard. We were hella tired at work that week, but it was worth it! But Leda and Mike took FOREVER! Lol Being that we are all fans of the show, we wanted to make sure we did this one together. So in this episode, we welcome our spouses, Mike, Leda’s husband, and Nicole, my wife, as guests. We got the chance to talk a lot about the themes of the season as well as the characters. We even got a little deep about white friends and our feelings about hoteps!
So in this episode Leda Kay hit me up and asked if I saw Netflix’s the "Rachel Divide," the documentary about Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who believes she “identifies” as a black woman. The documentary picks up 2 years after the whole thing of her double life becoming national news. I didn’t see it (definitely fell asleep trying to watch it…) but we invited a special guest on, my beautiful wife Nicole who actually did see the documentary. This was a really awesome discussion. Listen in as we dive in to the documentary and even some other social issues that it brings up. #BeBoldBeIntentionalBeFree #LiveLegendary
Ah man, It's finally over. In this episode we talked about the magnificent 7 year run of “Scandal” that finally came to an end. Leda and I finally both saw it and it's time to talk about it I guess. Of course we definitely couldn’t talk about the end of this era without our mom, who’s been the most faithful, never missing a Shondaland TGIT! She even rewatches whole seasons of the shows. (Now you know where we get it from!
This episode we talk about one of the blackest, dope, #ForTheCulture, concert experience to date, Beyoncè’s Coachella 2018 performance. I mean it’s almost hard to put into words how awesome this performance was, but Leda and I do our best to talk through all the black excellence we saw. No we didn't go to Coachella, but we definitely caught it on the internet! And yes, we had the time of our lives watching it! (The internet is undefeated! lol) Listen in, laugh with us and feel free to call in with your thoughts. Let us know what we might have missed!
“Yooooo Did You See... ?” is a new podcast where my sister Leda Kay and I review different television episodes, movies and even things on the internet that we both saw recently. We, like many of you, are really busy everyday, so on demand TV is life! There’s this idea out there that if you’re trying to build a business or level up in life, that watching television and movies are a waste of time. Here’s a fun fact... entrepreneurs watch TV too.
