The last two weeks we have been looking at the history of crochet; the overall history and Lydia’s personal history. Now it’s time to switch gears and look at some more practical information (not that the history wasn’t practical). This episode is going to be focused on our thoughts revolving around all things crochet and we will be discussing things such as the usefulness of crochet, the benefits of it, and how it differs from other crafts like sewing or knitting.

Last week was the first episode in our new “getting started in crochet” series, where we looked at the general history of crochet. This week we are taking things a step further by looking at Lydia’s personal history with crochet, where it all began for her.

This week, we’re diving straight into this new series, “Getting Started in Crochet.” For the next few weeks, Lydia will be talking us through everything you need to know (and more) about crochet, from where it originated, to steps into starting crochet for yourself. So, lets get started with this slightly shorter introductory episode.

We have come to the end of our “Getting Started in Woodcarving” series, and in this final episode Shaun is going to give you some beginner projects to help get you started. He has thought through three separate projects that progressively get a little trickier and build upon the skills you have already learned. We’re starting things off with a spreader.

Health and safety should play a major role in any work industry, and woodcarving is no exception. There are lots of little things that can help aid you in staying safe - like protective gear, or correct technique - but one main way to stay safe is to work in the right frame of mind.

This will be a much shorter episode today, but don't be fooled, it will still offer you vital information to aid you in your wood carving/spoon carving journey. Today we are going to be discussing the materials you will be working with: wood. After all, you can't be a wood carver without it.

You've finally chosen what tools to buy and have spent a lot of money to get them, so why do people at this point neglect the regular maintenance needed to keep them in good shape? Tool maintenance is a very crucial, yet largely overlooked, thing. Despite what you may think, a sharp tool, is a safe tool, especially when it comes to carving.

In today's episode, we will be talking about Shaun's spoon carving tool kit. Shaun is going to talk through his toolkit and give some recommendations and tips on finding the best tools for you.

Lastly in the lineup for the Valentine's Day Specials, we have the story of Shaun and Elisabeth. Last week we saw how Jonathan had moved to Holland when he was young and there married his wife Lydia and had their two children Michael and Elisabeth; let's pick it up again from there.

Last week we heard from Kent and Willina, all about how the Lord brought them together, this week it's Jonathan and Lydia’s turn to tell us how they met and what the Lord has done in their lives.
