Lo sits down with a very special guest this week, a pioneering neurologist who doesn't just study the brain, he's spent decades figuring out how to protect it. Dementia is on the rise so it's the perfect time to level up our brain health. In a conversation that's equal parts fascinating and practical, they unpack what's actually happening inside your brain on a daily basis—what's helping it thrive, what's quietly damaging it, and the habits most people don't realize are accelerating cognitive decline.Without getting overly clinical, the episode breaks down the real reasons dementia and Alzheimer's cases are rising—and more importantly, what you can start doing now to lower your risk. From brain fog to memory lapses to long-term brain health, this is one of those conversations that shifts how you think about your body… and your future. It's insightful, eye-opening, and surprisingly actionable, because taking care of your brain isn't just about aging, it's about how you show up right now.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
What happens when the coach you hired tells you to do the opposite of what you expected? We dig into a listener's real dilemma — her coach told her to take six days off from training — and explore why the hardest part of being coached isn't the programming, it's the trust. Discover why a great coach's perspective is the single most valuable thing you're paying for, and why curiosity beats judgment every time.We break down the two pillars every coaching relationship is built on — experimentation and trust — and why resisting your coach's advice might mean you're not ready to grow. Learn why six days off won't cost you your fitness, why your identity might be more wrapped up in training than you realize, and how one low-risk experiment could change everything.

Description:This week, Jen and Amy sit down with double board-certified OB-GYN and reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Natalie Crawford, author of The Fertility Formula, for a wide-ranging conversation about hormones, inflammation, stress, and the powerful (and often misunderstood) signals our bodies are constantly sending. While Dr. Crawford's work is rooted in fertility, this episode zooms out to something much bigger: how hormone health reflects our overall well-being — and why midlife is often the moment when the body stops whispering and starts speaking clearly. But this conversation isn't just for women trying to get pregnant. It's for women in perimenopause and menopause wondering what their bodies are doing now — and why. Because fertility is more than reproduction; it's a health marker. The same patterns that shape our fertility years — inflammation, hormone signaling, metabolic health, stress — also influence how we experience menopause, what symptoms show up, and what kinds of support our bodies will need. And it's also for women stepping into the grandparent years — who want to better understand what their daughters, daughters-in-law, and younger women in their lives are navigating. Because the more we understand our own bodies, the more compassion and clarity we bring to the next generation. Together, they unpack: Why your menstrual cycle (even in its changes) is one of your most important health indicators Natalie's experience with pregnancy loss and how it shaped her approach to women's health The effects of societal and political shifts on women's reproductive choices How cycle awareness can support both fertility outcomes and menopause transitions Whether or not you are thinking about fertility — or are long past that season — this conversation reframes it as something more expansive: a reflection of vitality, resilience, and how supported your body truly feels across every stage of life. Thought-provoking Quotes: “We're living in a different era now, luckily, where women are demanding more knowledge about their bodies.” – Dr. Natalie Crawford “I think that my own experience reframed how I educate my patients and the public in taking charge and learning how to listen to your body and believe it. What are those little red flags—whether it's my cycle, whether it's symptoms, whether it's fatigue, and how do I get answers or try to modify those so that I can have more control over what is happening to me?” – Dr. Natalie Crawford “Anybody who's trying to sell you a quick fix, especially if it comes in a bottle, is most likely not in your best interest. That doesn't mean there aren't medications or supplements that can help, but that comes after you've done what you can do.” – Dr. Natalie Crawford Resources Mentioned in This Episode: The Fertility Formula: Take Control of Your Reproductive Future by Dr. Natalie Crawford – https://amzn.to/47HZ1NR The New Perimenopause: What's Actually Happening to Your Body with Dr. Mary Claire Haver - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-64/the-new-perimenopause-whats-actually-happening-to-your-body-with-dr-mary-claire-haver/ Fora Fertility Clinic– https://www.forafertility.com/ Guest's Links: Website - https://www.nataliecrawfordmd.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/nataliecrawfordmd/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/nataliecrawfordmd/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/NatalieCrawfordMD/videos TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@nataliecrawfordmd Substack - https://substack.com/@nataliecrawfordmd Podcast - https://www.nataliecrawfordmd.com/podcast Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. What happens when a patient can't afford the treatment you prescribe but is too embarrassed to say so? Health care executive Adam Cunningham joins the show to unpack the devastating ripple effects of medical debt, drawing on his KevinMD article, "The hidden toll of medical debt on patient health and survival," and sharing how one friend lost her job, her insurance, and nearly her ability to function before finding affordable biologic treatment for rheumatoid arthritis overseas. You'll hear why 16 percent of U.S. suicides have a contributing factor of medical debt, how patients weigh financial ruin against ending their lives, and what makes China's tier one hospitals a surprisingly viable option for Americans priced out of care at home. Cunningham explains the accreditation systems that ensure quality abroad, the role patient advocates play in navigating costs, and the one question every physician should ask before assuming a patient will follow through on a treatment plan. Dr. John La Puma is a board-certified physician, two-time New York Times bestselling author, and pioneer of culinary medicine—a field that integrates food, lifestyle, and environmental health into medical practice. He also runs a regenerative certified organic farm in Santa Barbara that serves as his living laboratory for “nature as medicine,” where he tests how deliberate time outdoors can restore sleep, focus, resilience, and long‑term health. His latest book, Indoor Epidemic, distills insights from more than 2,200 studies to show how spending 93% of our time indoors steals our energy and performance, and how small, intentional doses of nature—the “Outdoor Rx”—can get them back. On this episode we talk about: How a 12‑year‑old's 4 a.m. paper route shaped Dr. La Puma's work ethic and lifelong love of making money. Why his curiosity about food, ethics, and lifestyle pulled him from traditional medicine into entrepreneurship and book writing. How modern indoor living “environmentally hijacks” us through air quality, light, and movement—and why that quietly taxes your cognition and health. The surprising science behind walking, outdoor movement, and “minimum effective doses” of nature for performance, creativity, and weight loss. Practical ways founders and professionals can redesign their day—walking meetings, morning light, and distance breaks—to make more money by thinking and performing better. Top 3 Takeaways Your environment is either handicapping or amplifying you: sealed, indoor spaces with stale air, dim light, and little movement quietly create a cognitive tax, inflammation, and burnout that no amount of hustle can fix. Small, specific doses of outdoor light, air, and movement—like a 17‑minute morning walk outside and walking meetings—are free levers that dramatically improve sleep, focus, creativity, and long‑term health. You can treat nature like a prescription: structure your day with “daylight before screen time,” frequent distance breaks from your devices, and simple outdoor routines that compound into better decisions, productivity, and ultimately income. Notable Quotes “Most people aren't burned out—they're just indoors too much.” “You're leaving gains on the table if you don't use the natural inputs your brain evolved to expect.” “Daytime before screen time—getting your light first and then your coffee—might be the most powerful way to improve performance that I know.” Connect with Dr. John La Puma: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnlapuma Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnlapuma/ Other (Book & Free Outdoor Reset): https://IndoorEpidemic.com Website: https://www.drjohnlapuma.com/ Travis Makes Money is made possible by High Level – the All-In-One Sales & Marketing Platform built for agencies, by an agency. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Health reporter Diana Bletter joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Israel and Lebanon held a historic summit on Tuesday in Washington, DC, as envoys for the two nations met with the hopes of reaching a peace deal that would end decades of conflict. The talks ended without a clear way forward on the goal of demilitarizing Hezbollah and no date for a follow-up meeting had been set as of Tuesday evening. On Tuesday morning, the Iranian-backed terror organization Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets to Israel, sending tens of thousands of Israelis to bomb shelters and wounding one. Bletter explains what life is like in the north and focuses in on a visit she paid to Ora Hatan in Shtula. Hatan, who will light a torch next week for Israel's Independence Day, has cooked thousands of meals for IDF soldiers since the conflict erupted in the north on October 8, 2023. A Beersheba family court judge on Friday ruled that the sperm of Yotam Haim, an Israeli hostage who was mistakenly killed by troops after escaping Hamas captivity in Gaza, may be used to conceive a child, saying it was his express wish before his death. Bletter delves into some of the 250 cases of postmortem sperm retrieval and the questions the procedure raises. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Host Sarah welcomes Dr. Sarah Pugh for a wide-ranging Part 1 conversation touching on listener questions and current wellness themes. They discuss viral AI-generated social media accounts pushing cheap, vague weight-loss or supplement offers via Amazon links, and why people should be cautious. The conversation moves into addiction patterns (alcohol, food, nicotine, phone use), comfort eating, and weight-loss plateaus tied to low leptin, chronic dieting, and overexercising, emphasizing consistency, rhythm, light exposure, earlier dinners, and earlier bedtimes. They reference tools and labs including 4-point cortisol testing, CBCs, insulin and leptin ranges, sauna use and binder cautions, and how illness can distort labs. Integrative rheumatologist Dr. Aly Cohen combines conventional rheumatology medications with lifestyle and environmental health approaches to manage autoimmune disease, emphasizing nutrition, sleep, exercise, the gut microbiome, and reducing exposure to synthetic chemicals, pesticides, and contaminated water. They discuss how immunosuppressive drugs can be lifesaving but carry infection risks, and how “risk mitigation” and anti-inflammatory dietary patterns can support resilience. Cohen highlights vitamin D's importance in autoimmunity and COVID outcomes and lists four foundational supplements: a clean multivitamin (including iodine), vitamin D3 guided by blood levels, a quality probiotic, and omega-3 fish oil with adequate EPA+DHA; they also cover cautious use of curcumin, limited enthusiasm for glucosamine/chondroitin, and a measured view of collagen. Cohen promotes her hybrid Smart Human Health Summit on women's health (Saturday, April 25), featuring clinicians speaking on menopause/HRT, dementia, cardiology, endocrinology, GLP-1s, and toxins, with in-person, virtual, and recorded access.

People may soon be able to bypass the GP and head to the pharmacist for a wider ranges of medicines, at a cheaper price. The government proposal would allow pharmacists to assess a patient, provide a consultation, and supply a treatment, similar to a GP visit. It would also mean patients get treatments at a lower cost, rather than paying full over-the-counter prices. Treatments for scabies, headlice, and conjunctivitis would be covered, as well as emergency contraception pill. Lanny Wong, a pharmacist, director of Mangawhai Pharmacy and a member of the national executive of the Pharmaceutical Society spoke to Lisa Owen.
Hollie Campe-Astridge, assistant vice president in the Sports & Recreation Department at Philadelphia Insurance Cos., said health and wellness trends are continuing to support demand for outdoor experiences.

The government is finally catching up to what biohackers have known for decades, and the man helping lead that charge just sat down with Host Dave Asprey to talk longevity science, aging biomarkers, dietary overhaul, AI in medicine, and what a real science-first health agenda actually looks like. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Jim O'Neill served as Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services and Acting Director of the CDC before being nominated to lead the National Science Foundation in March 2026. Before entering government, he was CEO of SENS Research Foundation, where he led cutting-edge regenerative medicine research targeting mitochondrial mutations, senescent cells, and neocortex rejuvenation. He is a 30-year veteran of health care reform and a genuine longevity insider. Dave and Jim cover the complete rewrite of federal dietary guidelines, the government's new randomized controlled trials on saturated fats, and why grains are no longer the core of a "balanced diet." They dig into a 144 million dollar ARPA H program to establish causal aging biomarkers that will unlock real anti-aging drug development and accelerate the kind of longevity research the SENS Foundation pioneered. Jim explains why current aging clocks and DNA methylation markers are not enough, and what comes next for functional medicine, sleep optimization, and metabolism research. They also break down the CDC's return to its infectious disease core, the future of AI in health care, wearable data for disease surveillance, organ bioprinting, GLP-1s, supplements like vitamin D, peptides, and the right to self-experiment. You will learn: Why the new federal dietary guidelines finally reject grain-centric nutrition and validate what the biohacking world has argued for 25 years How a 144 million dollar government program aims to build the causal biomarkers that will make real anti-aging and longevity drug development possible What Jim thinks about DNA methylation clocks and why better tools are needed to measure aging and human performance How AI is reshaping prescription refills, clinical decision support, Medicare reimbursement, and the future of functional medicine Why Jim wears an Oura Ring and uses sleep optimization data to make daily health decisions The government's evolving stance on peptides, supplements, and therapies that are not patent protected How organ bioprinting using a patient's own cells could solve the organ shortage crisis What real science replication looks like and why the government is now funding it What the CDC is doing to refocus on infectious disease while shedding mission creep How GLP-1s, fitness tracking, and updated nutrition strategies could significantly cut national obesity rates within five years Thank you to our sponsors! - Neuronic | Go to www.neuronic.online Code DAVE for $100 off - iRestore | Reverse hair loss with www.irestore.com/DAVE and get exclusive savings on the iRestore Elite, use code DAVE - Go to timeline.com/dave and save 20% with code DAVE20 - Superstratum Labs | Get Dave's exact home mold detox kit and save 10% at superstratumlabs.com/products/dave Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Monica Cornitcher. Entrepreneurial journey, the inspiration behind Medase Cocktails, and the realities of launching, funding, and scaling a premium nonalcoholic spirits brand in a highly competitive market. Purpose of the Conversation The purpose of the episode is to: Educate aspiring entrepreneurs on how to build a differentiated consumer brand Demonstrate the importance of storytelling, market clarity, and operational discipline Highlight the growth of the nonalcoholic / zero‑proof beverage movement Inspire founders—especially founders of color—to own their niche, seek capital strategically, and scale intentionally. Key Takeaways 1. Business Built from Personal Need and Purpose Medase Cocktails was co‑founded by Monica and her lifelong friend during her friend’s battle with breast cancer, a time when alcohol was no longer an option—but celebration still mattered. The brand was created to allow people to celebrate authentically without alcohol It carries emotional depth rooted in friendship, gratitude, and loss Monica continues the mission after her co‑founder passed away in 2024 Lesson: Purpose-driven businesses create deeper emotional connection and long-term brand equity. 2. Differentiation Is Everything Monica deliberately rejected the “sparkling water with flavor” model common in nonalcoholic drinks. Her differentiators include: Authentic cocktail taste (Old Fashioned, Margarita, Moscow Mule) Organic juices, not artificial flavors Bold packaging that stands out on shelves Drinks designed to smell, taste, and feel like real cocktails Lesson: Competing on authenticity—not cost—is how you carve out market share in crowded spaces. 3. Brand Names and Stories Matter The name “Medase” means “thank you” and reflects gratitude, friendship, and emotional support. Monica emphasizes: Every flavor name, color, and product decision has a story A strong brand narrative creates curiosity, loyalty, and investor interest Lesson: People invest in brands they feel—emotionally, not just intellectually. 4. Venture Capital Is Not Just About Numbers While financials matter, Monica stresses that VCs also invest in founders and stories. What helped her secure venture capital: A compelling personal story Relevant founder skill sets (M&A, law, operations) Clear understanding of the market opportunity Lesson: Early-stage funding often depends on who you are and why you’re building, not just revenue. 5. Research, Planning, and Discipline Before Launch Unlike many food startups, Medase did not begin in a kitchen. They: Conducted a feasibility study Built a formal business plan Worked with a Black female food scientist Set strict personal funding limits before seeking capital Lesson: Preparation reduces risk and builds long-term sustainability. 6. Scaling Requires Operational Maturity As sales increased—especially on Amazon—Monica emphasized the need to move from “hustle mode” to operational excellence. Key scaling principles: Understand unit economics Track ROI for events and activations Adjust pricing as volume increases Build strategy across marketing, operations, and distribution Lesson: Hustle starts the business; operations grow it. 7. Niche First, Expansion Later Medase does not try to be “everything to everyone.” Core customers include: People seeking a break from alcohol Health-conscious consumers Black men looking for alcohol replacements Consumers wanting cocktail taste without hangovers Lesson: Strong niches create loyal advocates who fuel organic growth. 8. Smart Distribution Strategy Rather than rushing into retail, Monica prioritized direct-to-consumer channels: Amazon (top-performing channel) Brand website TikTok Shop Only after 6–7 months of traction did retail expansion become viable. Lesson: Control your margins and demand before entering expensive retail environments. Memorable Quotes “I wanted an authentic cocktail without compromise.” “Everything we do has a story behind it.” “Sometimes it’s not about the financials—it’s about the founder and the story.” “Don’t be everything to everybody. Find your market and stick with your market.” “Hustle starts the business, but operations give you scale.” “If it tastes too much like alcohol and you gave me a one-star review—thank you. That means I did my job.” Overall Message This episode is a real-world entrepreneurial blueprint showing how clarity of vision, emotional authenticity, disciplined planning, and niche focus can turn a personal idea into a scalable national brand. Monica Cornitcher exemplifies the modern founder:visionary, data-aware, emotionally intelligent, and unapologetically authentic. #SHMS #BEST #STRAWSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As federal food safety oversight weakens, Mary Basset, public health physician, former New York City Health Commissioner and New York State Health Commissioner, and professor of practice of health and human rights at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, discusses her push to get Albany to pass three bills that would expand nutrition warning labels at chain restaurants statewide and crack down on junk food ads targeting kids. Photo: The logo of a salt shaker, meant to warn consumers of high sodium content in food, appears on an Applebees menu on December 1, 2015 in New York City. The new sodium warning is the result of a city-wide law effecting restaurants with 15 or more locations and lets consumers know that an item has 2,300 milligrams of sodium or more in it. Restaurants must have the logo on their menu starting today. (Photo by Andrew Burton/Getty Images)
Israel and Lebanon are meeting in Washington in their highest-level direct talks in more than 40 years. But the gaps of disagreement are wide, and any progress could be dashed by the Iran-backed militia Hezbollah, which says it won't abide by any agreement in the meeting. For the Lebanese people grappling with loss and displacement, there's little hope negotiations will herald change. Health care workers have also been victims in this war - since early March, dozens of medics have been killed in Israeli strikes. MSF volunteers have been working across three major hospitals in Lebanon, and their emergency coordinator Christopher Stokes joins the show from Beirut.
