For Chew The Fat's first event we decided to jump in at the deep end. No armbands, no floats, just the ticking of the clock as we sign in and out of our digital lives. Our specialists in order of presentations: Abigail Connor is currently finishing her PhD Thesis in A Theory Of The Temporal Experience, at the university of Manchester. We’re excited to find out how Abigail is unraveling the puzzle that is the passage of time, and the human perception of duration. Sara Day Thomson works for the Digital Preservation Coalition, a not-for-profit organisation that raises awareness of digital preservation and the technological issues surrounding interactions on Web 2.0. We can’t wait to hear Sara’s forecast regarding archiving datasets, and the cultural and historical implications of this new research field. David Wilkinson is a writer, director, and founder of Guerilla Films. Having seen a fundamental shift in film distribution and viewing habits, and along with his diverse knowledge of cinematic history and it’s Leeds-based beginnings, we look forward to hearing David’s analysis of the Perception of Time in the Digital age.
