One man's journey to become a stand-up comedian.
Here it is: the best I've ever done as a comedian. A few bits of useful context: This set was in front of a room of baseball boosters. The town where I live had a very well publicized pedophile scandal. Altoona, a nearby town, even more recently had a very well publicized pedophile scandal involving the Catholic church. I wrote this set the morning before, in the shower. Much of the middle is improvised.
Season 2 Premiere: In which I try out my new material for the first time in front of a paying audience.
In which I write a new set during my scooter ride to the club.
In which the local constabulary respond to, um, a situation at my apartment.
In which I discover that, at least in central Pennsylvania, bestiality is hilarious.
In which I have my best weekend of stand-up yet ... and go more than twice as long as I was supposed to at one of the shows. BONUS IMAGE: Headliner Rodney Laney with the pair of panties mentioned in this episode. (Also be sure to check out David James.)
In which I interview Sean Conroy: comedian, improviser, head writer of Mr. Pickles, and host of The Long Shot podcast.
In which I get laughs at the early show, and get heckled at the late show.
In which I perform stand-up comedy in front of my parents, and also improvise some jokes about typos.
On February 20, 2015, I performed for the first time as a paid stand-up comedian. When I got home from the gig, I decided to start a new podcast so you can follow along as I try my hand at making people laugh. Hear my jokes ... and learn whether anyone laughed.
