Jase and Al welcome John and Paula Godwin to reflect on the kind of community that shows up in the hardest moments from medical crises to marital collapse and everything in between. They revisit seasons of fear, loss, and uncertainty, including Paula's HIV needle-stick scare and the painful surgeries that tested Jase and Missy's resolve. The conversation builds to the powerful “even if” faith of Daniel 3 — trusting God not only when He delivers what we ask for, but even if He doesn't. What's up Bros? We are as shocked as you (unless youre not enjoying this season). This is good TV currently. Is it the best ever? No. But the RHOBH bar is pretty low and dammit we are enjoying it currently. Dorit and Kyle continue to Hampton it up. Amanda opens up about the cult. Denise and Erika have a very important conversation on camera and we salute them both for being brave enough to share their stories. Will the group reunite and all will be well? Or are we about to see why Amanda (allegedly) stopped filming..? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

If your teen son won't talk, gives one-word answers, or avoids conversations completely, this episode will help you understand what's going on—and what actually works. In this Ask Steph episode, we explore one of the most common (and understandable) questions in anxious–avoidant dynamics: what actually helps an avoidant partner feel safe enough to open up emotionally? If you tend toward anxious attachment, it can feel deeply unsettling to sense that parts of your partner's inner world are closed off to you. That can create a strong pull to try harder, ask more questions, or push for emotional access — often with the hope that if they open up, it will mean you're finally “enough.”In this episode, we unpack why that instinct can backfire, and what genuinely supports emotional safety instead.

Are men taught to be strong at the cost of being whole, and is that inner fracture driving disconnection, addiction, and despair? Josh Trent welcomes Connor Beaton to the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 801, to break down the myth of modern masculinity, why suppression masquerades as strength, how porn, stress, and emotional avoidance become coping mechanisms, why men need initiation and mentorship to move from numbness to mastery, how shadow work and confrontation build real confidence, and why emotional leadership is the foundation of healthy relationships and fatherhood.

I hear this all the time: “Matthew, they're wonderful but they won't let me in. The conversations stay shallow. They deflect when things get real. And no matter how safe I try to make it, they just . . . won't go there.” Sound familiar? Here's the thing: I've been on both sides of this. I've been the man who shut down, and I've been lucky enough to experience the moment that cracked me open. This episode is personal. I'm telling you two stories: one where vulnerability went horribly wrong, and one where it literally led to my marriage. Ever notice someone's withdrawn, quiet, or clearly bothered—but when you ask “what's wrong?” they shut down even more? You're not alone. Most people approach these moments with good intentions but terrible execution, and it backfires every time. In this episode, Brett breaks down why the classic “what's wrong?” or “are you okay?” almost never works—and what to do instead. You'll learn how to frame your approach so people actually feel safe opening up, rather than defensive or interrogated. What You'll Learn: ∙ Why asking “what's wrong?” triggers defensiveness and makes people clam up ∙ The psychological principle behind why people withdraw when confronted directly ∙ How to lead with intent so your concern lands as care, not criticism ∙ Specific language frameworks to use with a spouse, colleague, or team member who seems off ____________________ Follow Us: Website: ArtofCoaching.com Instagram: @coach_brettb X: @coach_brettb

One morning around 6, the police banged on our door. "OPEN UP!" they shouted, the way police shout when they definitely have an alternative in mind for if you won't. I was awake at the time, because the kids were up early and I was on shift. I opened the door. The cops seemed mollified by the fact that I was carrying twin toddlers and looked too frazzled to commit any difficult crimes. They said they'd gotten a 9-1-1 call from my house with plenty of screaming. Had there been any murders in the past hour or so? https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/the-permanent-emergency

Talking about feelings can be hard, for kids AND parents. Some kids talk freely, others shut down, and many sit somewhere in between. If you've ever felt unsure how to help your child open up, or worried about what's going on beneath the surface, this episode is for you.Silence isn't defiance — it's a signal. Kids can shut down when they don't feel emotionally safe, even when the environment is calm, loving, and well-intentioned. Today I unpack how emotional intelligence, nervous system awareness, and self-regulation change the way kids experience communication and connection. You'll learn why kids decide (unconsciously) whether it's safe to share, how our tone, presence, and reactions matter more than the “right words,” and how letting go of control actually builds trust. I also share simple phrases, somatic calming strategies, and mindset shifts that create space for openness without pressure, fixing, or compliance. If you want deeper connection, more trust, and conversations that happen naturally, without forcing, this episode will change the way you think about talking to your kids.If this way of thinking resonates, my book on Amazon goes deeper into these ideas — emotional intelligence as the foundation for calmer, more connected parenting. Think of it as a companion to this conversation.

A great question, with some trippy stories in the answer.
No matter what we are facing, let the word of God talk to us.

For 10 years, Belkins' founders never sat down on camera to talk honestly about what building this company has really cost them.Michael Maximoff and Vlad Podoliako have spent a decade building together. They took Belkins from zero to one of the world's leading B2B lead generation agencies, built Folderly, and managed a portfolio of joint investments. On paper, the story looks perfect. But a portfolio of companies doesn't show what it feels like to live through it.To close out one of the hardest years they've ever had, Michael and Vlad finally sit down — in person — to break the silence. This special episode isn't about “how we scaled an agency.” It's about what happens to two people when they spend a decade in hardcore mode: carrying a 300-person team, making painful decisions, holding impossible targets, and trying not to lose themselves (or each other) in the process. They talk about optimism turning into realism, when caring too much starts holding the company back, and why 2025 felt like a loss even with “good numbers.”If you've ever felt the weight of responsibility as a founder, co-founder, agency owner, or someone building ambitious things inside a B2B company, this conversation will hit home.In this episode, we unpack:
Do you remember Bumble? How does Bumble go from the antagonist to the one helping Hermie? At some point, he was made to "Open up and say...AH!"
In this powerful final episode, hosts Kristen Pyrc, M.D. and Wini King announce that Raising Joy is going on a hiatus after five successful seasons and over 125 episodes. They celebrate that the mission of the Joy Campaign—to support the mental well-being of children—will absolutely continue at Cook Children's.To close out their run, they welcome back their very first guest: Kathleen Powderly, M.D. Dr. Powderly was the "canary in the coal mine" who first sounded the alarm on the youth mental health crisis during the pandemic. She shares vital progress:Reduced Stigma: Fewer severe suicide attempts and a massive shift in families being willing to seek help earlier, before the situation becomes desperate.Better Resources: Increased availability of therapists, more insurance options, and the growth of employee assistance programs (EAPs).Success Stories: Dr. Powderly shares the professional "joy" of seeing her former patients—who accessed help during the crisis—now in college and "better".To our listeners, thank you for many moments of JOY! We are grateful for each and every one of you. Remember, Just Breathe, Open Up, You Matter!

In your younger years, you may have thought about your future self. I always wanted to be 30 and I would envision what it would look and feel like. I ultimately became 30. There I was. But I did not arrive and become the ultimate “Kevin” at that point. Five years passed and I became 35 and thought about how far I had come since 30. And this continues happening. As of this recording I just turned 55. Five years from now I'll be 60 and likely be amazed at how much I have grown and evolved past the 55 year old I am now. This is the focus of this episode. I am back with Dr Benjamin Hardy. I have had Ben on this podcast six or seven times. His personal story is the lead in the first chapter of my book, “What Drives You.” Ben's books on willpower, personality, and personal transformation have put him at the top of the human potential movement. Here I give focus to Ben's book, Be Your Future Self Now: The Science of Intentional Transformation. It was through Ben that I first heard the concept of, “End of history illusion”, where as I led off with, we look back with amazement at how far we have evolved from who we used to be, but we think who we are now is…who we are. Ben takes us through his research to see how we can open up our personal transformation if we will engage with the future self we are going to become and not only conceive of who we are today. Ben Hardy is an organizational psychologist and has devoted significant research to this issue and become a leading expert on the application of Future Self science. Ben's new book, Be Your Future Self Now, can be found everywhere and you can connect with him at benjaminhardy.com.
