Well, we've got ourselves another Mo-Mo incident in Times Square... Needlessly picking up right from the smoldering wreckage of Liv freeing herself from her captor William Lewis by way of bludgeoning her captor with an iron bar, we get a stark ripped-from-the-headlines episode delving into the infamous Ariel Castro case. Kidnapping victims are held in cages in the basement and raped for decades, and Liv's PTSD is still very real. This episode dwells in darkness. That doesn't mean the Munchie Boys have to, though, as the discussion veers into off-brand Muppets knockoffs, the ineptitude of the Cleveland Police Department, where Cassidy ranks on Benson's loves of her life, and the hazards of dialogue directed at people named “Buddy” reading in different ways. Episode 15 examines the banking industry close up with a nod to the Great Reset debate popularized by Klaus Schwab and Thierrry Malleret and the World Economic Forum in Davos, and inspired by the Covid-19 crisis. Central bankers worldwide responded to the crisis by massive market interventions and money printing when shutdowns and locksdowns threatened a global depression and social chaos. In the US, the Fed is navigating the latest stages in the economic recovery and the "new normal." All this occurs amidst the bear market and soaring inflation. “The whole nature of the economy will change – a Great Reset will, in fact, occur,” according to DICK BOVE, chief financial strategist at Odeon Capital Group, in his latest research. “Banks will be significant beneficiaries of this change.” BOVE notes that while the financial system and the economy is in the process of adjusting, there is likely to be some turmoil in the unfolding drama. Appropos, BOVE'S new research is titled, Bank Stock Positioning. Key Investment Points for the Great Reset.
If you're like me, you believe on some gut level that burying and ignoring your emotions isn't healthy - and the research continues to back that. A https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110323105202.htm (study) from the University of Texas found that when we avoid our emotions, we're actually making them stronger — which can create serious implications for your body and mind, including depression, aggression, low self-esteem, and physical problems like headaches, insomnia, heart disease, intestinal problems. Another thing to consider, is that opening up can go both ways. We want to hold space for our sons and daughters, but when we're feeling off, we make a mistake, or have big feelings, it's also OK to share these with them in an age-appropriate way. It's only by knowing our hardships and obstacles that our kids will understand how resilient, persistent, and courageous we are. _____ Getting your tween or teen to talk to you can be notoriously difficult. We're all used to one-word answers and hearing “fine” when we ask how they're doing. CONTENT WARNING: In this episode, Gill shares her experience with suicidal thoughts before she got sober. She also notes challenges with weight. Gill Tietz joins Sober Stories host Beth Bowen to discuss her path to sobriety after becoming a daily drinker in a short amount of time. Gill shares her experiences with negative self-talk and shame, and how her fear of potentially taking action on her suicidal ideation led her to quit drinking. Beth and Gill talk about her experimentation with moderation, and Gill shares how she approached all of her drinking as the scientist she is. Gill talks about the cruise vacation that made it apparent that she cannot “drink normally,” and shares the experience that still sometimes triggers her to think about drinking. Gill shares what her story would be called: "Sober Powered." Gillian Tietz is the host of the Sober Powered podcast and works as a biochemist in the Boston area. When she quit drinking in 2019, she dedicated herself to learning about alcohol's influence on the brain and how it can cause addiction. She used that knowledge to free herself from the shame she had about being unable to control her drinking. Today, she educates and empowers others to assess their relationship with alcohol. Content warning: we briefly discuss the suicidal thoughts our guest experienced in early sobriety. Back in February 2020, Marking the Marcs hosts Marcelo and Marcus started recording a new limited series on the Stone Cold Steve Austin-Vince McMahon rivalry of the late ‘90s and early 2000s. They only recorded the first two episodes and published them on the Talk Film Society Patreon in March 2020. Now, listen to those two episodes here in one episode with over two hours of wrestling talk. There will be no further episodes. Enjoy.

Students from different racial and ethnic backgrounds may go to the same high school, but this doesn't guarantee they won't cling to stereotypes about one another. That became painfully clear a few months ago when a student at Chicago's Lincoln Park High School made a video asking classmates what race they wouldn't date and why. Most of the answers were offensive, with many kids laughing and talking comfortably about how people of other races smell — all of it right in the school hallways with other students watching. That video was made public and got a lot of attention. But this kind of thing happens pretty regularly. Curious City reporter Adriana Cardona-Maguigad and WBEZ education reporter Susie An teamed up to talk to Chicago area teens about race and relationships and what they think schools should do to help kids move beyond stereotypes.
Do you find yourself wishing your partner would share more about their emotions, or at least just more details about how their day went? In this episode, we're giving you practical tips on how to get your partner to “open up”, once and for all. Check out the show notes at: vmtherapy.com/episode44
