This is the discussion and research of the idea “Why the Bible is True” from a strong apologetics angle. Students used Scripture and non-biblical material to appeal to the skeptic not under the authority of Scripture. Students used history, archeology, philosophy or comparative religions to reinforce the reliability of Scripture. This Episode features Zach, Nate and Andrew.
Ben, Austin & Zach discuss Cancel Culture. Pick a social justice movement (feminism, black lives matter, #metoo, anti-wall, etc.) and read the 1st chapter of Wounded Healer (Henri Nouwen). First, through proper research of movements origins, come up with a robust definition with all its components. Secondly, once a full understanding of that movement is found, think deeply about what does the biblical impressions of justice ultimately found in the gospel speak to this movement. What does it affirm? Discredit? Does it create a pseudo-gospel? Incomplete? What does justice without God look like? Lastly, how does chapter 1 of Wounded Healer speak to this movement as ministers?
Zach, Andrew, and Nate discuss the issue of urgency vs. an unhurried life. Assignment: In consultation with mentors and ministry leaders, students identify a contentious contemporary issue, either within their ministry context or outside their church, and describe how biblical wisdom can be applied to its resolution. Such a description must include concrete actions that can be taken to move the issue forward.
