What Would It Take to Actually Trust Each Other? The Game Theory Dilemma

    Your Undivided Attention

So much of our world today can be summed up in the cold logic of “if I don't, they will.” This is the foundation of game theory, which holds that cooperation and virtue are irrational; that all that matters is the race to make the most money, gain the most power, and play the winning hand. This way of thinking can feel inescapable, like a fundamental law of human nature. But our guest today, professor Sonja Amadae, argues that it doesn't have to be this way. That the logic of game theory is a human invention, a way of thinking that we've learned — and that we can unlearn. In this episode, Tristan and Aza explore the game theory dilemma — the idea that if I adopt game theory logic and you don't, you lose — with Dr. Sonja Amadae, a professor of Political Science at the University of Helsinki. She's also the director at the Center for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge and the author of “Prisoners of Reason: Game Theory and the Neoliberal Economy.”The history of game theory as an inhumane technology stretches back to its WWII origins. But humans also cooperate, and we can break out of the rationality trap by daring to trust each other again. It's critical that we do, because AI is the ultimate agent of game theory and once it's fully entangled we might be permanently stuck in the game theory world.RECOMMENDED MEDIA“Prisoners of Reason: Game Theory and the Neoliberal Economy” by Sonja Amadae (2015)The Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential Risk“Theory of Games and Economic Behavior” by John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern (1944)Further reading on the importance of trust in FinlandFurther reading on Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of NeedsRAND's 2024 Report on Strategic Competition in the Age of AIFurther reading on Marshall Rosenberg and nonviolent communicationThe study on self/other overlap and AI alignment cited by AzaFurther reading on The Day After (1983) RECOMMENDED YUA EPISODESAmerica and China Are Racing to Different AI FuturesThe Crisis That United Humanity—and Why It Matters for AILaughing at Power: A Troublemaker's Guide to Changing TechThe Race to Cooperation with David Sloan Wilson Clarifications:The proposal for a federal preemption on AI was enacted by President Trump on December 11, 2025, shortly after this recording. Aza said that "The Day After" was the most watched TV event in history when it aired. “God, what do you have for me?” In today's conversation, we're reframing the idea of “calling” through Scripture and real life.  We'll look at biblical examples like Joseph and David, who weren't chasing titles or platforms — they were simply doing the next right thing, trusting God, and stewarding what He had already given them. In this episode, we talk about: What the Bible actually teaches about calling and purpose Why faithfulness in everyday life matters more than big plans How small, obedient decisions make a huge spiritual impact Glorifying God in marriage, work, motherhood, friendships, and business Recognizing and stewarding the unique gifts God has placed inside you Why being plugged into the body of Christ is essential for growth and stepping into what God has for you How prayer brings clarity when you're unsure what God is asking of you If you've been feeling pressure to “figure everything out,” this episode will help you rest, refocus, and move forward with faith. Send us a textWhat if the thing you're avoiding—rest—is the missing gear your life needs to finally run smoothly? We dig into the messy middle between hustle and recovery, challenging the belief that stepping back means you're falling behind. Through raw stories from night shifts, NICU days, and the creeping costs of burnout, we unpack how fear, shame, and identity can turn “always on” into a trap—and how reframing rest can unlock better health, clearer decisions, and stronger relationships. We get honest about the high-performer mindset: the brain says more effort will fix everything, while the body waves a red flag. That tug-of-war shows up as exhaustion, short tempers, poor judgment, and eventually, real health consequences. The turning point wasn't a perfect routine; it was perspective. With coaching, we separated worth from output and learned to protect energy like a core asset. Oddly enough, doing less led to more—weight lost, promotions earned, a thriving business, and most importantly, presence at home.We also explore rest as a family system. When one person models healthy recovery, everyone wins. We share simple anchors—morning pages, a quiet walk, a short game with the kids—that restore focus without derailing momentum. And we tackle the tricky part: defining your version of rest without drifting into escapism or using “self-care” to avoid growth. Whether you're an introvert who needs silence or an extrovert who refuels with people, the test is simple: do you return sharper and kinder? If the grind has become your identity, this conversation offers a different map: self-leadership over self-punishment, rhythm over sprints, presence over performative hustle. Hit play to learn how to rest without quitting, move with purpose, and become the kind of person who can do the right things well, for the long run. The Planisodes are Back! This series of mini-podcast episodes has been designed to help you shape your year from the inside out.  Not by chasing trends or forcing goals, but by reconnecting with your true value, listening more closely to what matters to you now, and creating a plan that feels aligned, flexible and sustainable. Each Planisode focuses on one essential part of meaningful growth. In every episode, I'll guide you through a few thoughtful questions and one simple task, so planning becomes something grounding and supportive rather than overwhelming. Download your Planisode Planning ToolTo support you as you move through the Planisodes, I've created a practical planning spreadsheet you can use alongside the episodes. It gives you space to capture your insights, track your progress, and revisit your plan as you and your business evolve throughout the year. Download it here:  www.melittacampbell.com/Planisodes   This series isn't about having everything figured out from day one. It's about creating clarity through honesty, momentum through alignment, and a plan that grows with you as you step into the year ahead.   Planisodes 2 - Defining What You Truly Want for 2026 In this Planisode, you'll shift your focus from what you think you should want to what genuinely matters to you as you look ahead to 2026. Instead of setting goals that look impressive on paper, this episode invites you to tune into how you want your business and life to feel, the kind of work you want to be doing, and the impact you want to have on your clients and the world around you. Through a series of thoughtful questions and a simple reflective task, you'll begin to identify what energises you, what excites you, and where your true value naturally comes through. This process helps you create clarity that's rooted in honesty and intuition, not pressure or comparison. You'll also be reminded that nothing in your plan is fixed. As you grow and evolve, your plan can flex with you, allowing your business to stay aligned with who you are and what matters most. "Clarity doesn't come from pushing harder. It comes from listening more deeply to what truly matters to you." — Melitta Campbell   *********************************************

Joe Bergamini on Subbing, Broadway Reality, and Building a Real Music CareerIn this episode of the Broadway Drumming 101 Podcast, I sit down with Joe Bergamini—drummer, educator, author, and one of the most thoughtful voices in the drum world.Joe has subbed on more than 15 Broadway shows, toured nationally, taught for decades, and written some of the most respected drum books out there. But what really stands out is how clearly he talks about what it actually takes to build a sustainable life as a working musician. We dig into what subbing on Broadway is really like, how learning music note-for-note early on prepared him for theater work, and how teaching, touring, rock bands, and saying yes to the right gigs quietly shaped his career. Joe also shares stories from his early club days and why preparation, curiosity, and relationships matter more than hype or shortcuts. This is an honest, practical conversation for drummers who care about longevity. Here are just a few books he has written:Speaking at NAMM – January 24I'll be expanding on many of these ideas in person at NAMM:Building a Career in Theater MusicSaturday, January 2411:30 AM – 12:00 PMHilton California AIf you're attending NAMM and curious about Broadway, touring, subbing, networking, contracts, and the real financial side of being a working musician, I hope you'll stop by.Broadway Bound and BeyondMy upcoming book, Broadway Bound and Beyond: A Musician's Guide to Building a Theater Career, goes deeper into many of the topics we talk about here—how musicians actually get hired, how careers are sustained, and what no one explains when you're starting out.Get on the list at:www.broadwayboundbook.comSubscribe and Stay ConnectedIf you're getting value from these conversations, make sure you're subscribed to Broadway Drumming 101 so you don't miss future episodes and articles. If you know a musician trying to figure out their next move, share this episode with them. On this, our 308th Evolutionary Lens livestream, we discuss glyphosate, Roundup, Monsanto, and how science and the law are done. A benchmark scientific review paper from 2000, which established the safety of glyphosate for humans, has been retracted by the publisher, on the basis that a) the paper did not actually review the available evidence, b) the stated authors did not actually write (much of) the paper, and c) employees of Monsanto, which makes Roundup, cryptically contributed substantively to the paper. This paper never should have been published, and its retraction should prompt the EPA to revamp guidelines for the use of glyphosate. Also: peer review and scientific culture are widely gamed. And: punitive damages to injured plaintiffs, awarded by juries against corporations, are being reduced by appellate courts due to a misapplication of the 14th Amendment.*****Our sponsors:Xlear: Xylitol nasal spray that acts as prophylaxis against respiratory illnesses by reducing the stickiness of bacteria and viruses. If you've ever felt trapped in your own thoughts, frustrated by repeating emotional patterns, or exhausted from chasing happiness that never quite lasts, this episode will challenge everything you think you know about personal growth. As today's guest reveals, a lot of our suffering doesn't come from our circumstances—it comes from the unconscious beliefs that shape how we experience reality. Aaron Abke is a spiritual teacher, founder of 4D University, and the author of The Three Beliefs of Ego: A Sufferer's Guide to Freedom. With a background in theology, a masters degree in biblical studies, and millions of followers drawn to his thought-provoking teachings, Aaron offers a rare ability to bridge psychology, spirituality, and ancient wisdom in a way that's both deeply grounded and radically freeing. In our conversation, Aaron breaks down the three (3) core ego beliefs and explains how they quietly drive anxiety and inner conflict. We explore why happiness rooted in outcomes often falls short, how ego resists reality, and why true peace begins when we stop fighting life as it is. If you're ready to leave your mental struggles in the past and experience a deeper sense of inner peace, this episode offers a powerful new perspective. Enjoy! In this episode, Dr. Rebecca Dekker talks with Lisa Greaves Taylor, founder of Birth Matters NYC Childbirth Education, director of the East River Doula Collective, and host of the Birth Matters podcast, about the power of birth stories as tools for education, healing, and self-advocacy.   Drawing from her work supporting families in New York City since 2010, Lisa shares how storytelling helps birthing people move beyond fear-based narratives and reconnect with their intuition, confidence, and voice. Together, Rebecca and Lisa explore the realities of giving birth in NYC—including high rates of induction, limited access to midwifery and birth centers, and postpartum support gaps—while also highlighting reasons for hope, advocacy, and change. Certified breathwork facilitator and founder of The Self-Care Suite Tara Pringle Jefferson joins us to reframe self-care beyond consumerism. Drawing from her new book Bloom How You Must: A Black Woman's Guide to Self-Care and Generational Healing, Tara unpacks the “strong Black woman” narrative, shares what was happening in her life when her doctor literally prescribed rest as medicine, and points out practical ways to build support, not just stamina. We get into social and professional wellness (hello, sabbaticals), the power of “third places,” why it's important to indulge creative rituals that aren't rooted in perfectionism, and the intergenerational wisdom she gathered from talking to 100 Black women ages 19–99. Plus: Toni Morrison's lesson on boundaries, Coretta Scott King's vocation-as-service, and a simple mandate for 2026 (remember you're human). For more from Tara:Bloom How You Must (book + tour dates)The Self-Care Suite (Tara's community)Tara on social: @WearWomenBloom (IG / Facebook / Threads)Connect with Be Well, Sis:Instagram – @bewellsis_podcastSubstack – bewellsis.substack.comFollow, rate, and share this episode! We're supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. ✨Sell your first digital product free forever! Start here! Watch the episode on YouTube! If you're a creator, blogger, coach, or online entrepreneur, you've probably felt it already: AI has changed everything. The old playbook—creating an ebook, checklist, or guide filled with information—just isn't enough anymore. When someone can ask ChatGPT a question and get an answer in 30 seconds, why would they pay $27 for a static PDF? That's the uncomfortable truth most creators are avoiding. But here's the good news: this shift is actually opening the door to more income, not less. In my newest video, I break down the five products creators will rely on to make $10,000, $20,000, even $50,000 per month in 2026—and why these offers work because of AI, not in spite of it. Let's dig in. Show Notes: MiloTree Free Plan 2026 Product Selector AI Prompt Goldmine Product AI Prompt Join The Blogger Genius Newsletter Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Big Shift: Information Is Free — You Are the Product AI can generate content. AI can summarize ideas. AI can outline frameworks. What AI can't do? Look at someone's specific situation Give personalized guidance Create accountability Build community Deliver transformation That's why the creators winning in 2026 aren't selling information. They're selling access, guidance, experience, and connection. And AI? It becomes your accelerator—helping you create faster while you deliver the value. The 5 Products Dominating Creator Income in 2026 1. One-on-One Coaching Coaching is the fastest path to cash for creators right now. Why? Because people don't want generic advice—they want someone to look at their situation and tell them exactly what to do. One productivity coach charging $300 per session and booking just 12 sessions a month is already making $3,600/month. No ads. No massive audience. Just expertise and trust. You don't need a complicated setup either: Payments A scheduling link Zoom That's it. 2. Live Workshops Workshops let you scale your time without losing the human element. One MiloTree customer ran a 90-minute live workshop for $97. 45 people showed up. That's $4,365 in under two hours. Same expertise as coaching—just delivered to more people at once. Plus, live workshops create urgency and energy that pre-recorded content never can. 3. Mini Courses with Live Q&A This is where things get really smart. Creators are taking workshops they already ran and turning them into: Short, focused mini courses Broken into simple modules Paired with weekly live Q&A calls One nutrition coach sold 38 copies at $147—over $5,500 from content she had already created. Evergreen content + live access = the best of both worlds. 4. Group Coaching Programs Group coaching hits the sweet spot between leverage and connection. Think: A defined outcome A clear timeline (8–12 weeks) Weekly group calls A private community One business coach runs a 12-week program at $497 and enrolls 18 people at a time—nearly $9,000 per cohort, twice a year. Same expertise. Same calls. Way more impact. 5. Memberships (The Real Long-Term Play) If you want predictable, recurring revenue, memberships are where creators are building real wealth. One creator helping Etsy sellers launched a $67/month membership and grew it to 227 members—over $15,000/month recurring. Why memberships work so well: Community is the value Members support each other You're the guide, not the bottleneck Income stacks month after month AI can give advice. It can't create belonging. Why MiloTree Is Built for This New Era Here's the part most creators don't realize: you don't need five different tools to sell these products. With MiloTree, you can sell: Coaching sessions Workshops Mini courses with live calls Group programs Memberships Digital downloads All in one place. No Kajabi. No Teachable. No ThriveCart. No bloated platforms that take hours (or weeks) to figure out. MiloTree handles: Payments Digital delivery Scheduling AI-generated sales pages And yes—you can start for free, no credit card required, to test which product your audience actually wants. Not Sure Which Product to Start With? I Made This for You To make this even easier, I created a free AI prompt called: The 2026 Product Selector AI Prompt You tell it: Your niche Your expertise Your audience size How much time you have And it tells you: Which of the five products to launch first Why it fits your situation Five clear action steps to get moving immediately No overthinking. No endless planning. Just momentum.

Download it here:  www.melittacampbell.com/PlanisodesTool   This series isn't about having everything figured out from day one. It's about creating clarity through honesty, momentum through alignment, and a plan that grows with you as you step into the year ahead.   Planisode 1: Reflecting on Your Year:  Lessons, Alignment and True Value In today's Planisode, I invite you to pause and look back before moving forward. Rather than rushing into goals or strategies, this episode guides you through a thoughtful review of the past year so you can recognise where your true value showed up, how it felt, and the impact it created. Using a simple, reflective approach, you'll uncover what worked, what felt most aligned, and where you were most yourself in your business. This process helps you build confidence, self-trust and clarity as you shape a plan that feels grounded and sustainable. By understanding the lessons, successes and subtle signals from the year behind you, you'll be able to create a stronger, more meaningful path forward, one that supports growth without forcing you to become someone you're not.
