In today's episode we kick things off with Candace Owens claiming she's very close to cracking a mysterious “case” on Charlie Kirk — only for Nathan Livingston to expose that she was actually pranked live on air. We walk through her response, the contradictions, and what she now expects her audience to believe. From there, we dive into the Megyn Kelly vs. Dave Rubin fight, who was at Dick Cheney's funeral, Trump's Oval Office meeting with Zohran, and Democrats playing dumb after openly telling the military to disobey Trump's orders. Then we close with a round of TikToks on the modern dating crisis that you won't want to miss. So many young people from divorced or dysfunctional families assume their story is unique — or worse, that they're destined to repeat the same patterns. But the truth is, family brokenness is far more common than anyone talks about. And God has been dealing with messy family dynamics since the beginning of time.In this episode, Deacon Ryan Budd, who served as Dr. Scott Hahn's research assistant, reveals how the Bible is full of families just as complicated, chaotic, and wounded as ours. He explains why God doesn't simply “fix” things instantly, how healing actually unfolds, and what Scripture shows us about breaking cycles and building something new.We cover:Why broken families are more common than you thinkThe surprising dysfunction hidden in biblical storiesHow God works through pain instead of erasing itDavid's family drama — and what it shows us about redemptionPractical steps to begin healing and avoid repeating the pastIf you've ever feared that your future family is doomed by your past, or you're searching for hope in the mess you come from, this episode is for you.Buy the Book: Salvation Stories: Family, Failure, and God's Saving Work in ScriptureGet the Guide: 5 Tips to Navigate the Holidays in a Broken FamilyWatch the Documentary: KennyWatch the Trailer: Kenny (3:31 min)Get Dakota's FREE Guide, The Biggest Fitness Mistakes to AvoidShownotesQuestion for Joey or our guests? On this Freedom Friday, we had Asheritah Ciuciu join us to talk about how to reroute distracting thoughts during quiet time to focus more on the Lord. Asheritah is a national speaker, bestselling author, and founder of One Thing Alone Ministries, an online ministry that helps overwhelmed women find joy in Jesus. She has also written several books, including “Unwrapping the Name of Jesus: An Advent Journal.” We also had Dr. John Mabus join us to discuss how God receives us when we come to Him for help. We turned to Mark 10:46-52, where we see how, when Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus for sight, He received Bartimaeus and gave him sight. Dr. Mabus is an Associate Professor of Applied Theology and Church Ministries at Moody Bible Institute. For the past 14 years, Dr. Mabus has served as a Navy Chaplain, sharing the gospel and caring for military personnel. We then turned to the phone lines to ask listeners, “What pressing need in your life has revealed your ultimate need for Jesus?” Then we had R. York Moore join us to discuss how we know God really loves us. York is a gifted speaker, revivalist, and abolitionist. He is also the President, CEO, and National Evangelist of the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO). He has also authored several books, including “Seen. Known. I went back to one of my classic Broadway Drumming 101 conversations this week, and it reminded me why I started this series in the first place. Years ago I sat down with Rich Rosenzweig when he was holding the drum chair for the revival of ‘Company.' Now he's driving the bus for Ragtime at Lincoln Center, and revisiting this talk brought everything back. We got into the real work of subbing on Broadway, the pressure of matching the regular drummer's feel, and the quiet connection with the conductor that determines whether you get asked back.In the clip, Rich breaks down the truth every serious drummer needs to hear. Subbing isn't about chops or showing what you can do. It's about matching the show so well that the conductor can close their eyes and feel the same pulse, the same sound, the same flow they get from the regular drummer. They're not looking for surprises. They want stability. If you're not giving accuracy, presence, and attention to detail, they feel it immediately.Rich also talks about how conductors watch the monitor even when they say they don't. They're looking for someone who is locked in and communicating clearly. Plenty of great drummers have fallen short because they didn't prepare the book with real precision or didn't read the conductor the way the regular drummer does. Most people never hear that part of the job. Subbing is consistency, connection, and trust. Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.This conversation is one of my favorites, and I'm bringing it back. Subscribe to Broadway Drumming 101 so you're notified when the re-release goes live. If you're trying to get into Broadway or looking to sharpen your subbing skills, this episode will show you what the job really demands. This Substack is reader-supported. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Rich Rosenzweig has played more than a dozen Broadway shows and appeared on multiple cast recordings. He's been the drummer for the Kennedy Center Honors orchestra for more than a decade, toured nationally and internationally, and has been the regular drummer for City Center's Encores! series. He performs in progressive jazz ensembles, including his own East Down Septet, teaches privately, and has written several feature screenplays.More episodes like this are coming. Stay tuned.Clayton Craddock is the drummer for the upcoming Broadway revival of Cats: The Jellicle Ball, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 7th. He is also the founder of Broadway Drumming 101 and the author of the forthcoming book Broadway Bound and Beyond: A Musician's Guide to Building a Theater Career. His Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include tick, tick…BOOM!, Memphis, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Ain't Too Proud, and The Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical, along with extensive subbing on shows such as Rent, Motown, Evita, Avenue Q, and the Hadestown tour.Clayton is currently on tour with The Rock Orchestra and has appeared on The View, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, and the TONY Awards, and has performed with artists ranging from Chuck Berry and Ben E. Send us a textComplementarians use a lot of really nice-sounding words to describe their beliefs about gender roles, but when you actually break down what they mean, they're not talking about roles at all—they're talking about hierarchy. In this episode, Keith and I decode all the euphemisms like "different roles," "servant leadership," and "his headship is for your protection" to show what complementarians are really saying: that men should be in authority over women. The problem is, when you actually implement these beliefs in marriage, we see relationships struggle—and the statistics bear that out. And we work directly against the gospel, putting the husband in the place of Jesus. For a goofy franchise that started with gangsters stealing DVD players and wound up with a Pontiac Fiero going into space, The Fast and the Furious movies are a pretty fantastic lens through which to view the last quarter-century of Hollywood economics. From the DVD boom and bust to the internationalization and diversification of ticket-buyers to questions of propriety surrounding the digital resurrection of deceased actors to the desire for all-encompassing franchise-based “cinematic universes,” the series has ridden every economic wave buffeting the movie business since the original's release in 2001. Author Barry Hertz does a wonderful job of weaving that story amidst the tangle of egos and artistic energy that makes up the Fast series in his new book, Welcome to the Family: The Explosive Story Behind Fast & Furious, the Blockbusters that Supercharged the World. Full disclosure: I'm not a particularly big fan of the series, so I was a little skeptical when I agreed to check out Barry's book. But even if you don't really care about the Fast and Furious movies, there's more than enough behind-the-scenes drama and economic intrigue to keep you riveted. And it's a must-buy stocking stuffer for anyone in your life who lives their life a quarter mile at a time.

Do you ever feel like your perfectionism is something you need to fix? What if the truth is the opposite—that your perfectionism holds real power? In this episode, Whitney talks with Katherine Morgan Schafler, psychotherapist and author of The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control: A Path to Peace and Power. Katherine challenges the cultural narrative that perfectionism is a flaw and instead shows how, when understood and channeled well, it can be a meaningful strength. Katherine explains the difference between adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism, how perfectionism shows up differently for women, and why many of us feel caught between our ambition and the pressure to soften it. She also outlines the five types of perfectionists so listeners can recognize their own patterns, strengths and red flags. Listen in to rethink what perfectionism really is—and learn how to work with your drive instead of against it. It's a blockbuster weekend of jumps racing across Ascot, Haydock, and Punchestown, and Emmet Kennedy is joined by Andy Newton, George Gorman, and Jamie Wrenn for a fast-paced, opinion-packed preview loaded with value bets, data-backed angles, and plenty of laughs. We kick off at Ascot with the 1965 Chase, where Il Est Français makes his British debut for Tom George. Can Pic D'Orhy land this race for the third year running? And how serious is the challenge from Arkle hero Jango Baie and the powerful Gidleigh Park? At Haydock, the Grade 1 Betfair Chase sparks a major split in the panel:Two are firmly against favourite Grey Dawning, while the other two are all-in on the Skelton star. Expect strong reasoning, sectional insights and a few angles you won't hear anywhere else. In the 1:15 Handicap Hurdle, the lads highlight 4/1, 5/1 and 11/2 players worth your attention, while in the 1:50 Graduation Chase, we debate whether The Jukebox Man is worth opposing on his comeback. Over at Punchestown, the Morgiana Hurdle brings Lossiemouth back to centre stage—does her appearance confirm a Champion Hurdle campaign? At Haydock's Stayers' Handicap Hurdle, the panel put forward 13/2, 11/1 and 22/1 selections, before returning to Ascot for the Ascot Hurdle, where Wodhooh is a warm favourite—good thing or trap? Then it's the big one: the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Chase, one of the deepest renewals in years.Fact To File, Fastorslow, Gaelic Warrior, Inothewayurthinkin, Heart Wood, Lecky Watson—stacked quality everywhere. And one of the team is strongly opposing the favourite with his best bet of the weekend. As the owner of P3Running, Michelle blends run coaching with nutrition education for athletes of all ages, helping young runners understand how food supports performance, recovery, and long-term well-being. However, before we begin, I'd like to share a free resource with you. This is your visibility in the marketplace. If you would like some guidance on what a platform is, why you should have one, and some tips on building one, head on over to cookbookwritersacademy.com/platform for a complimentary checklist download. In this episode, we talk about: Michele's journey from idea to publication of her new book: The Young Runner's Guide to Nutrition. How she shaped her concept that connects nutrition science with workable recipes Why she wrote this book for young athletes, their parents, and coaches? Her writing process, the resources she leaned on, and the systems she built to stay organized Insights about building a platform, and not letting social media metrics distract you from your mission. Whether you're a runner, a cook, a baker, an athlete, or an aspiring author, Michele's story is a powerful reminder that writing a book is a race built on one day, one habit, one recipe, one chapter at a time. In this episode of the Food Freedom Podcast, Mary breaks down a hard-hitting truth that can radically change your food addiction recovery: goals don't create transformation, standards do.Most people set goals for “someday,” hoping they'll eventually become the version of themselves who stops binge eating, quits sugar, or finally stays consistent, but in recovery, goals leave too much room for negotiation.Mary explains why setting personal standards is a far more powerful approach in overcoming food addiction, emotional eating, disordered eating, and the constant cycle of “starting over.” You'll learn how standards shape your identity, eliminate loopholes, and shift you from hoping to becoming right now.If you're tired of white-knuckling your way through food choices, constantly breaking promises to yourself, or feeling like your progress depends on willpower, this episode will give you the mindset shift you've been missing.Grab your copy of my FREE 9 page Beginner's Guide to Food Sobriety https://www.foodfreedomwithmary.com/foodsobrietyguideNEW Free Food Sobriety Mini Course - https://www.foodfreedomwithmary.com/minicoursefoodsobrietyFacebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/4915319108493196/?ref=share_group_linkDo you need private coaching and intensive daily contact with a coach? Service design, so what...That's a question still many people around us (rightfully) ask.And let's be honest, they'll probably keep asking it for the foreseeable future. It will take a very long time before our field becomes a household name, which I doubt it ever will. Now, it's easy to get frustrated about this, to roll our eyes every time someone questions the value of our work. But that frustration isn't going to get us any closer to creating the impact we know we can.A much more productive approach is to prepare for these questions, to have our answers ready before they even get asked. This also helps us to better recognize when we end up in situations where, no matter what we say or do, our message about service design just stand a chance of resonating. We do everyone a favor by acknowledging this. Sometimes it's just not the right place or the right time. But where do we learn which stories to tell, when and to whom, and which stories we should avoid?Well, we can take some clues from Mark Howell, our guest this in this episode.Mark is a seasoned professional who's led some of the largest in-house service design teams I've heard of. This achievement becomes even more impressive when you consider he did this in industries not exactly known for their human-centered thinking. In our conversation, we explore how Mark used tools like a "service design quality assessment" to have the right conversations with stakeholders. We talk about how he learned to identify the red flags that signal it's time to find a different project, and we dig into the key role community plays in building a successful service design practice.I'm really excited about this episode because we just don't have many examples of people who have scaled service design teams to these kinds of numbers. And we have even fewer who are willing to share the real learnings from that journey. So, if you have the ambition to grow service design, this is a fantastic conversation to get some best practices and hear about the pitfalls to avoid. What stuck with me from our chat is recognizing that sometimes you need to take a step back instead of just trying to push forward (and burning out in the process).I would love to hear from you: What's a key signal for you? What's the clue that gives away that it's time to stop pushing and find a different battle?Enjoy and keep making a positive impact! ~ Marc--- [ 1.
