Welcome to Love in Color, a podcast discussing how racial identities impact dating and relationships in today's increasingly diverse world.
In the final episode of "Love in Color," Gina reflects on the journey of the podcast, as well as her guest's opinions and her own perspective on "the way forward." She concludes by discussing what she has learned in her time at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB).
In this episode, things get personal as Gina is joined with her partner, Alex, to discuss their own experiences as an interracial couple. The couple talk about how they each realized they were an interracial couple and what it was like meeting each other's families. They go on to discuss how they handle communication barriers and microagressions from others.
In this episode, Gina is joined with fellow CSUMB student, Ari, to discuss how interracial dating and relationships are depicted in film and television. Gina and Ari look deeper into movies such as "The Big Sick" and "Get Out," along with the TV show "On My Block," comparing their depiction of interracial relationships. The girls proceed to address the dangers of the single story, as well as the concepts of visibility and placism.
In this episode, Gina sits down and talks with Hannah and Miles, an interracial couple going to graduate school in a red state. Along with talking about what it was like moving from California to a red state, Hannah and Miles discuss the difficulties and successes of their relationship, as well as what they believe is the way forward in regards to interracial couples overcoming barriers.
The premiere episode of "Love in Color" features the host, Gina, as she describes her experience learning about race and racial identities as an introduction to the podcast's main theme of how racial identities impact dating and relationships in today's increasingly diverse world.
