My guest is mead maker Ash Fischbein from Sap House Meadery! We had a great conversation about all kinds of interesting, fun and informative things mead related. We start out talking a bit about his and his cousin Matt's background of the meadery. We discuss his brewery venture in Hobb's Tavern & Brewing Company, and of course we get in depth in talking about the mead I tasted of his on the videos including his Raspberry, Om Nom Nom (oatmeal raisin cookie), Higher Grounds (coffee mead) and his gin barrel aged traditional New England wildflower called Hey Jealousy. To wrap it all up Ash offers some excellent mead making tips for the home mead makers out there including a real nugget of info about different kind of yeast. Mead lovers and makers won't want to miss this! Today my guest is mead maker Jeremy Kyncl from Hierophant Meadery where we talk about the meadery and how he makes his award winning metheglin meads (mead made with herbs and spices). Jeremy's wife, Michelle, is also instrumental in recipe building and managing of the meadery. In addition to running Hierophant Meadery, Jeremy and Michelle are herbalists and they incorporate their love for plants into their mead making to create meads that express exquisite aroma and flavor. Listen in as Jeremy also gives some expert tips on how to make high quality metheglin! Welcome to the first ever podcast episode for Mead Tasters! My guest is mead maker Jon Oppegaard from Oppegaard Meadery where he makes what is known as Viking mead with a modern twist. In this fascinating and informative interview you’ll hear stories and helpful advice about Jon’s experience with making excellent mead and how he came to produce it. If you haven’t seen the second video episode of the Mead Tasters YouTube channel where I featured Jon’s Blueberry and Honeybomb meads, then do yourself a favor and give it a watch. We really enjoyed those meads and I highly recommend you check it out! Jon has been very encouraging of what I’m trying to do with mead tasters in promoting high-quality mead and the meaderies that make it and I truly appreciate his encouragement as well as the amazing mead he produces. If you love mead, I know you'll enjoy the interview. Cheers!
