Coming up in September right here in Missouri.Earthprayer! My special offering for May is an Earthprayer series unfolding via the Goddess Magic Mystery School. This series includes weekly live practices, daily posts, inspiring rituals, and FOUR printable card decks for exploring our daily themes.Life's Bits and Pieces:May I remember I am not here to watch from the edges, but to co‑create in the ceremony of life's unfolding.May I choose with wise discernment what I will tend in my cauldron of creation.May I return, again and again, to my own sacred center. And, may I trust that some wishes are meant to wander on the wind, carrying my magic farther than I can see.reading: (to self) Living in Process—while I have a couple of complaints about this book in terms of what feels like missing information/explanation, I am really enjoying the exploration of living in process, remembering the this earth, this world, this life is not static, it is an unfolding and each of us has a process to live and explore.(to kids) Aenir, book three in the Seventh Tower series—I actually finished the second book, The Castle, in between April's newsletter and this one. I'm still enjoying this series, in which everything the main character has thought to be true about his life and world unravels as he discovered how much more lies outside the shadowy boundaries of his life. (listening to with Tanner): Brian's Hunt—the final book in the survival classic series that developed after Hatchet. Since I last wrote, we also listened to The River, Brian's Winter, and Brian's Return. We also continued our Gary Paulsen festival by listening to Northwind, which is about a Viking-era type of boy who has to survive alone on the sea.(listening to by self): Sisters in the Wind—I've barely begun this one, as I only recently finished listening to Warrior Girl, Unearthed. This is the third book following Firekeeper's Daughter, but it actually takes place temporally between the events of Firekeeper and Warrior Girl. I actually liked Warrior Girl, Unearthed more than Firekeeper's Daughter overall, but I was really left frustrated by the many holes in the ending. Each of these books is a 12+ hour listen, so be prepared!Note: I am on Fable if you want to follow along with what I read there!Resource Reminders:Intro audio about the Goddess Magic Mystery SchoolI've started to add our monthly activation replay videos for this year's #30DaysofGoddess practice to the homepage! What does play mean to you today?Where might you be trying to “straighten” what is meant to be delightfully cattywampus? What would it feel like to bless the imperfect instead of fixing it?Where can you soften in your life—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually? What rough edges are currently rubbing at your spirit, and how might you soften them?Where do you feel “thin,” leaky, or drained in your life or energy body right now? What fears or resentments are hurting you from the inside out? What would it look like to begin releasing even a little of that today? If your heart could speak freely, what would it say it needs in order to remember how to be whole? What idea, project, or dream are you ready to make manifest in this season?Affirmations:I allow playfulness to enrich my life.I find pleasure in the small moments.I follow what pleases me.I am rich in so many ways.I understand the sacred nature of the cattywampus way.I embrace the tender beauty in imperfection.I am playful.I dance in the love light of a benevolent Mother Goddess.I am rooted in love.I pause and return to center.I breathe deep and listen.I allow myself to delight in the sweetness of life.I am open to ease in the present.I soften and rediscover sweetness.I remember I am already whole.I am fierce and wild.Inhabiting the crossroads…I watch the orioles, orange and black embersagainst a backdrop of green. They do not know what is on my lists.Standing under this sky, this day,I remember:when we let the litany of the undonerun away with us,we forget to inhabit the real. The orioles are here today.Tomorrow is still only a rumor.Sometimes I feel like I've been “camping out” at a long, extended crossroads—combination of midlife re-evaluation, changing family constellations and needs, and simply living in the in‑between on a changing earth.Midlife invites us to recognize and hold the reality that we can't live every possible life and can't say yes to every shimmering door. But you can:+Listen for your own full yes from the wise guide within. +Make peace with the paths that must pass you by.+Trust that new doors appear because you let others close.A mini blessing for today:“May I choose with wise discernment, even when it means letting good things go.”Embodying the Goddess: Guest Video about BeautySo pleased to share this guest video from Cynthia Abulafia, the author of Embodying the Goddess with you as a special subscriber bonus this month!Where the magic is…This is where the magic is, right where we are, where we touchthe mighty mystery, step into the sacred, and ease into the boundless, right where it touches us.Gently, now, we invite ourselves to remember.Bravely, now, we invite ourselves to reclaim.Firmly, now, we invite ourselves to return. We need not seek the absolute or long for the holy,we need only to open our eyes and reach out our hands, right here, right now, we have already arrived.Sending love to all of you.Keep living your magic, Molly, Mark, + Family This is a public episode. This breakfast cereal slogan boasted that its fruity cereal was vivid in color and taste. A similar thing could be said of the Apostle Peter after the resurrection of Jesus on Easter. Peter was not just outspoken, but now vivid with boldness. Listen and be encouraged. Copyright, Dave Andrus 2026

The College Essay Guy Podcast: A Practical Guide to College Admissions
Hi, friends, and welcome back to our series, "On Becoming: The Art and Craft of Personal Storytelling" where we take a close look at personal essays written by real students, talking about why we love them, what makes them work, and how they came to be. In this episode, I had the honor of sitting down with Wendy Zheutlin, who is not only one of my essay coaches but has been a volunteer for the past four years with our Matchlighters Scholars Program. This is the program where we pair high-achieving, low-income students with amazing counselors for 10 hours of free one-on-one support. And if that sounds interesting to you, whether you are a student or a counselor, we'll link in the show notes where you can find out more. This episode is a rare opportunity. Whereas normally we break down essays written by students, this was actually a personal statement written by Wendy herself as part of a course that I led for counselors. So this is her own personal statement, not written for applying to college, and it's one of my favorite essays. We talk about what it was like for Wendy, who doesn't identify as a writer, to write this story, a few techniques she uses to communicate a lot in just a few words, and that ineffable moment when you figure out what a story is about. If you're the kind of person who enjoys seeing how things get made, whether it's a great meal, a film scene, or a piece of writing, I have a feeling you might enjoy this one. Wendy Zheutlin works independently and with CEG as a college essay coach. After earning her BA in psychology from UCSC and her MA in film from Stanford, Wendy went on to work on social issue documentaries in film and TV. While raising her family, Wendy worked in both an elementary school and public library. Open and honest, Wendy builds trust and provides a safe environment in which students can begin a joyful journey of self-reflection and discovery as they write college essays that capture their spirit, their values, their experiences that engage readers. Enjoy. The time has finally come! Join Julia as she reacts to Season 3 Episode 1 of HBO's 'Euphoria!' Remember, no matter how you feel about the show, supporting Zendaya is always the #1 priority here at The P in Raspberry. So sit back, pop in some headphones, take a walk outside, and listen to Julia's genuine confusion over some post-high school character choices (and the absence of two very important people). But don't worry, while she may literally owe millions, Rue Bennett's "Will Always Be Famous" title remains safe! Cover Art by Lizzie Benjamin 2026.Ep. Recorded on Apr. 13, 2026.Follow along! We are back for Part 3 of the Carson Kressley mini-series! This time, we are trading the design studio for the kitchen, recording live from the set of Beat Bobby Flay in New York City. Carson sits down with his good friend, the Iron Chef himself, Mr. Bobby Flay. Bobby turns the tables and lets Carson do the baking (featuring his famous Amish-adjacent Pennsylvania Dutch custard pies!), while the two discuss the undeniable link between hospitality, food, and interior design. Bobby breaks down the psychological trick of the "Orange Glow" in his restaurants, how he works with his interior designer Olivia Jane, and the layout secrets of his personal home kitchens in New York, the Hamptons, and London. Quick Decorating Takeaways: Flatter Your Guests with Lighting: Bobby insists that lighting is the unsung hero of a successful restaurant or dinner party. He aims to create an "Orange Glow" in his spaces to ensure that everybody feels like they look good while dining—if they feel good about how they look, they'll have a better time. Design for You, Not for Resale: Bobby strongly advises against designing your home based on what a hypothetical future buyer might want. Instead of living in a safe, generic space for "resale value," you should design your home for the way you want to live in it right now. The Best Way to Serve a Crowd: When entertaining at home, Bobby rarely does plated dinners. He prefers a "family style" approach because it feels comforting and allows guests to take exactly what they want. His top entertaining essential? A collection of really cool trays to easily carry food and drinks around the room. What You'll Hear on This Episode: 00:00 Welcome to Week 3 of the Carson Kressley Takeover! 01:00 Live from the set: Carson bakes for an Iron Chef 03:00 Why interior design is just as important as the menu 04:30 The secret to the "Orange Glow" lighting 07:00 Bobby's partnership with his interior designer, Olivia Jane 09:00 Why Bobby loves shopping for vintage furniture on 1stDibs 16:30 How a chef designs his own kitchens: 18-foot islands & Hamptons bistro tables 19:30 Why you shouldn't design a house just for "resale value" 20:40 Entertaining tips: Trays and family-style meals 22:00 Designing his 1920s Tudor house in Saratoga and his London apartment 27:00 Bobby & Carson's London restaurant and hotel recommendations 29:20 The pie reveal: Strawberry and Raspberry custard 32:00 Sneak peek at next week's guest: Pat Altschul Also Mentioned: Bobby's Podcast: Bobby on the Beat London Spots: Berenjak, Scott's, Brat, The Broadwick Soho hotel Bobby's Restaurants: Amalfi, Brasserie B, Bobby's Burgers Vintage Shopping: 1stDibs Shop the Carson Kressley Collection at Ballard Designs Please send in your questions so we can answer them on our next episode! What is a Pet-Nat?They will often have a bottle cap on top. They are sparkling, but not at the level of a Cava, Prosecco, or Champagne. They are lightly fizzed. They are natural wines made without much intervention. They use natural yeasts and without many additives. Pet-Nat's normally have a little lower alcohol. I've read that they can be kind of funky, not sure what to expect. They use the “Methode ancestrale” – without intervention.Tonight, we are tasting::2024 Amuse Bouche Pet-Nat. I purchased this at Trader Joe's for $12.99. It has no added sugar, yeasts, or sulfites. The wine has 12.5% alcohol. 100% Grenache from the Languedoc region. Notes of Raspberry and grapefruit, as well as some white peach notes by the nose. On the palate. The wine is moderate in acidity and has a good mouthfeel due to the fine and delicate bubbles. It contains no added yeast, sugars, or sulphites. Pairs with summer salads, seuteed shrimp. We did not like the wine. Denise rated it a 2 and I had more of a dislike and gave it a 1. Neither of us would buy this wine again.

As the winter months stretch on, many gardeners find themselves dreaming of warmer days and bountiful harvests. In this week's episode of the Veg Grower Podcast, host Richard takes listeners on a journey through his kitchen garden and allotment, sharing valuable tips and insights that will inspire anyone to grow their own food, regardless of space or experience. Richard starts with an update from his kitchen garden, where he has been facing challenges with his lemon tree. After experiencing some harsh winter temperatures, the tree has shown signs of distress, with brown, crispy leaves and blackened branches. Richard discusses the importance of protecting citrus trees during cold spells, emphasizing the need for extra care in unheated greenhouses. This candid update serves as a reminder that even seasoned gardeners must adapt to changing climates and learn from their experiences. Next, Richard ventures down to his allotment, where he has been busy pruning his raspberry bed. He explains the simplicity of caring for autumn raspberries, which only require cutting down to ground level for optimal growth. The podcast highlights the importance of mulching, especially during winter, to retain moisture and promote healthy plant growth. Richard's practical advice on maintaining a tidy allotment amidst winter's challenges is invaluable for aspiring gardeners. In addition to gardening tasks, Richard participates in the RSPB Big Bird Watch, a community science project that encourages people to observe and record the birds visiting their gardens. He shares his experience of sitting quietly in his shed, waiting for birds to land, and reflects on the lessons learned from observing wildlife. Richard's enthusiasm for encouraging birds into the garden is infectious, as he discusses their role in pest management and the overall health of his vegetable patch. The episode also features a delightful recipe from Chef Scott, who presents a warming chicken root vegetable, bean, and barley broth—perfect for those chilly winter days. Scott's culinary creations are a wonderful reminder of the joys of cooking with homegrown produce. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this episode offers a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. Tune in to discover how to overcome winter gardening challenges, protect your plants, and embrace the beauty of nature in your own backyard. Don't miss the chance to learn from Richard's experiences and take your gardening journey to the next level! Send us a textThis episode is dedicated to the art of baking beautiful pies and tarts, just in time for the holidays! We welcome Laura Klynstra, author of The Homemade Pie Cookbook, to share tips and ideas for kicking our baking game up a notch. We get straight into asking Laura all our many questions about achieving the perfect base for our holiday desserts. Whether you love to use butter, shortening, or even lard, the important thing is to leave your fat a little chunky to create those flaky layers in your pie crust. If you prefer a rustic look and feel, a galette might be more your style. Hot tip: bake it in a cast iron skillet to avoid the mess if the filling leaks out of the pastry. When it comes to decorating the top of your pies and tarts, prepare your toppings in advance but wait to finish it off just before you serve it. Try adding cookies, fruit, caramel sauce or piped whipped cream to design your beautiful creations. We made Laura's recipe for a Raspberry Linzer Tart. This delicious dessert is based on a Linzer cookie, and is a beautiful tart to serve this holiday season. Get the Raspberry Linzer Tart recipe.
