Delaney and Bennett take their wildly different degrees and use them to review all of the books they loved when they were younger. After re-reading their favorite books from middle school they ask: How have they aged? How formative were they? And most of all – are they as fun to read as they remember?
This week we take a break from the novels and update about what's to come! We talk about what we're reading, watching, listening to, and more, from the new Shadow and Bone series to one of Delaney's many road trip playlists. Follow us on Instagram @nostalgiabookreport!
This week, we discuss Extras, the release to TV sequel to Uglies. Listen for outlines of fanfictions based on popular tropes, why acknowledging your girl-on-girl drama just isn't enough, or why playing rock-paper-scissors doesn't work in an auditory medium.
We discuss the conclusion to the original Uglies trilogy and realize that Westerfeld (who we refer to by his first name as if we know him) is really good at writing. Some truly groundbreaking stuff.
We read Pretties while eating Triscuits and then chatted (mainly about sex before marriage). We also found out that Scott Westerfeld wrote another series connected to Uglies, and that there's a Netflix film coming out starring Joey King, and we have THOUGHTS!
For their first episode ever, Delaney and Bennett read and discuss a middle school classic: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Listen on to hear about hating girl-on-girl drama, accepting brain lesions in order to live sustainably, and our middle school memories coming back to life.
