Not Playing Scared is a podcast about MTV's The Challenge. Co-hosts Olivia and Jim have two different perspectives to competition reality television. Through condensed recaps, we will talk at-length about The Challenge, reality television, and how these cultural phenomena apply to real world issues and themes. This week, we talk about about Nany's gameplay, the Big CT relationship, whether you should prioritize your partner or yourself first, and if Lolo's tweets about being "forced" off of the show have any merit. We also discuss the new direction of the Not Playing Scared Pod. Through condensed recaps, we will talk at-length about some of the larger issues, themes, and plot points that happen each episode of MTV's The Challenge. We hope to bring interesting conversation and debate about The Challenge franchise, reality television, and how reality tv and pop culture are influential to larger issues and themes of normal life.
*Moving forward, the Not Playing Scared Pod will be less of a recap show. Starting next week, NPS will begin to discuss some of the issues and themes that come up in the microcosm on the show and how these situations apply in television, pop culture, entertainment, social media, and the world in general (will still add some recap element, just not to the extent we have).* This week, we dive into recapping Episode 11 of Double Agents, which, by the end, turns into more of a episode where we get into deep conversation and debate about some character themes this season and the morality of reality TV. We talk heavily about some emerging issues on this season, and how these apply in the world: Josh's character, Lolo's performance, and manipulative men getting women to dislike each other. Lastly, we react to the new promo for The Challenge spin-off that was advertised last night (*CAST SPOILERS*).
This week, we recap episode 10 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents' and we break down all of the strategies currently at-play, as well as who our winners and losers were.
This week, we recap episode 9 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents.' We had to record this episode twice... so a shorter recap it is! (You're welcome). We talk trivia, strategy, and the half-way point of this season. Who do we have winning this season now? Don’t forget to subscribe so you always know when new episodes come out. This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 8 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents.' After opening with a debate about Mean Girls, the use of the phrase "chick flicks," and which movies Olivia *hasn't* seen, the recap of this episode goes as regular scheduled... except for some more debate later in the episode as to why the majority alliance is keeping the BB alliance around. Alliance considerations vs. final considerations: which is more important at this point of the season? Don’t forget to subscribe so you always know when new episodes come out. This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 7 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents,' which comes after a migraine nearly took one of us out for the week. While breaking down the episode, Olivia and Jim ask some hard-hitting questions, like "is it ever okay to throw a challenge?" and "is this a character arc or is out of options?" This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 5 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents'. We start off this episode with a very important question: Does Tori need Jordan in this game? This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 4 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents'. The day they recorded this was a bit wild, but Olivia and Jim are still trying to bring you all of the opinions, including their opinions on the Tori/Fessy rumors. While recapping this episode, obvious "villains" are being developed and Olivia's a little more here for it than Jim. They also talk about the sloppy (and boring) episode this was, but highlight some major takeaways and storylines moving forward. Finally, Olivia and Jim conclude with their winners and losers of this episode. Don’t forget to subscribe so you always know when new episodes come out. This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 3 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents.' While recapping this episode, Olivia and Jim debrief Fessy's transparencies and the injuries we saw. Then, they get into an impassioned debate over Josh's strategy or lackthereof, talk in-detail about what's going on in the larger alliance, and ask the million dollar question: why the f*** is no one intentionally trying to get a gold skull?! Olivia and Jim end with their "winner" and "loser" of this episode, and they're probably not who you'll expect. Don’t forget to subscribe so you always know when new episodes come out. This week, Olivia and Jim recap episode 2 of the The Challenge 'Double Agents.' First, they play a game called 'agree' or 'disagree' and then dive into the main recap. Then, Olivia and Jim discuss in-detail their opinions on the elimination and one of the most shocking game-changing moves to happen so far in this season.
