If you are a deeply devoted Catholic, we apologize in advance, because this episode might have you running for the confessional.  Whether you've seen Conclave or not, we're almost 100% sure that you have seen at least one version of Mean Girls, so the plot should feel familiar to you. This movie gives viewers a peek behind the curtain into the secretive and ancient practice of electing a new Pope. This might not on the surface sound particularly gay to you, but that is where you would be wrong. We don't know why SNL is sleeping on such high quality content, but we would give anything for a Love Island-ified Conclave skit. There is no chance in our minds that all these men were shut into a room together and no one hooked up. The entire film is just spilled tea after spilled tea as we follow 108 men who normally don't get a chance to see one another sequestered in one place. It's basically just a big sleepover full of hot goss and the most dramatic b*tches you've ever seen. These cardinals are so dramatic they don't even wipe the dust off their robes after getting literally bombed.  We talk with Mari about which cardinal we think aligns with which Mean Girls character, why the intersex Pope reveal at the end of the movie felt too rushed, and how the Conclave marketing team missed a huge opportunity in not advertising directly to the gays.  We know one thing for sure, Conclave Should've Been Gay(er). We open the show with better than expected CPI for the month of March. John Bolton makes a dolt of himself as he suggests Trump is economically illiterate less than 24 hours before the single-biggest jump in the stock market in recent history. Sen. Adam Schiff (in his pants) (D-CA), in a three day period, managed to go from being angry at Trump over tariffs to being angry at Trump for pausing the tariffs. We also remember Sen. Chuck “You” Schumer (D-NY) loved Trump 45's tariff's on China. President Trump revealed the strategy yesterday, getting China to walk into a trap while showing the rest of the world he is open to fair trade negotiations. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirms the strategy and later reminds us that Trump is focused on Main Street, not just Wall Street. In the meantime, Ambassador Greene, as trade representative to Congress, has to listen to an unhinged and emotional mean-girl Beta-male in the form of Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV) screech for 5 minutes. Surprisingly, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) says she understand the Trump tariff plan and agrees we need more industry here in the United States. On the flipside, in desperation to find a way to paint the positive jump in the DOW as a bad thing, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thinks it's an example of insider trading. Batya Ungar-Sargon reminds us that Trump is the one fighting for the middle class and middle America. In Congress, only 4 Democrats voted for the SAVE Act. This bill makes it the law that voters need to have proof of U.S. Citizenship to vote in federal elections. The View's Sunny Hostin demonstrates the view of the Left with their soft bigotry of low expectations. An Op-Ed in USAToday says we have tariffs underway, but Congress needs to get on tax cuts and cuts in regulation. To get them started, Trump just signed an order to make sure all departments are ignoring any unlawful regulations. Finally, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made an announcement in Panama. Filmmaker Atom Egoyan ("Exotica", "The Sweet Hereafter") returns after 9 years for his third appearance on the podcast. He has a new movie that is currently in theaters called "Seven Veils" starring Academy Award® nominee Amanda Seyfried ("Mean Girls", "Mama Mia"). The film follows theater director Jeanine (Seyfried) who, after years away, re-enters the opera world to stage her former mentor's most famous work. Haunted by dark and disturbing memories from her past, Jeanine allows her repressed trauma to color the present as her personal and professional lives begin to unravel. Renowned director Atom Egoyan sees "Seven Veils" as operating within a trilogy alongside his other critically acclaimed works "Exotica" and "The Sweet Hereafter". In "Seven Veils", he also reunites with Seyfried, who he worked with on the 2009 film "Chloe", in this visually stunning, propulsive work, filmed on location during the staging of his acclaimed production of "Salome". Egoyan directed the opera "Salome" in 1996, the first opera in what would be many to come over his career. Best known as a prominent film director since the 1980s, Egoyan has proven he is a master of both mediums, and "Seven Veils" is his way of bringing both together. Also on this episode the Canadian filmmaker Jeffrey St. Jules ("Bang Bang Baby") discusses his new film "The Silent Planet". The film stars the great actor Elias Koteas ("Exotica", "Crash") who joins us in this conversation. Serving a life sentence alone on a distant planet, an aging convict must confront his past when a new prisoner arrives and forces him to remember his life on Earth.

"The Ballad of Bagel Rat," is by Jen Spyra. She's written for The Onion, The New Yorker, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After reading her short story collection Big Time, we not only brought two of Spyra's stories to the stage, but commissioned this one, too. Actor Busy Phillips read this story onstage. She's been in shows from Freaks & Geeks to Cougar Town, though these days you may know her from Girls5Eva or the movie musical Mean Girls. Also, she is the best at social media—which gave her a strange kind of insight into this story. This episode is hosted by Aparna Nancherla.
