In this episode 1-week-late episode the memories I have with my dad. What stated this thought process is why there wasn't an episode. I took the time to help my dad set up a childhood game he got during Christmas, Ping Pong. He shared memories of him and his dad, my grandpa. I thought about what memories will my children have of their fathers and how my strong relationship with my own dad has allowed me to be more open with my children's fathers. Memories with a father are core memories whether good or bad. However, there is so much more to it when the home is split and there are so many adults involved and part of scheduling LIFE. What memories will be core memories for my children? How can I make sure that I'm not hurting their relationships and what can I do to create long lasting POSITIVE memories for all of us? Come and ride along and here this lovely word vomit for the day. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ashley-garretson/support

After reading the book "Grit" by Angela Duckworth, and scoring low on the questionnaire.. share where I lack grit and where I actually have it. Is it nature versus nuture? Both my parents pushed for us to just have good grades and go to college. Extra curricular activites, where grit can be made, wasn't a big interest of mine. I've tried plenty of activities to find my interests, however, everything I stuck to was to get out of somethings. For example, joining sports in high school to avoid have physical education classes or the time I became a "Stat" girl for the Boys basketball team to get out of 5th and 6th period during our away games. Is that grit? In this episode, you can hear my thoughts unravel as I figure this one out. In this episode, I focus on the main things I took away from the year 2020. I explore having a blended family with bonus moms, dads, and bonus siblings and how now we are starting to learn more about each other and our beliefs. It can be pretty tricky when raising children with different beliefs so how do you go about it? What's normal in your house? I explore how 2020 goals were out of this world, however, just like many, those goals were put on pause. This pandemic has taught me where I stand financially and where things went wrong. 2020 may have been a tough year, but there were many lessons to learn. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ashley-garretson/support
