I received a collection of Andersen's Fairy Tales for "Christmes 1965", as my 9-year-old self wrote in the flyleaf. The book as traveled with me throughout my life and it will be joy to revisit some of these stories again. This one had to be the first. Reading shapes us and this story became part of my story.
