Something a little different to my usual episodes. Today I'm having a casual chat with my Grandad about life.
Today I'll be talking to one of my good friends Tracy, we have been friends for over 10 years now and we first met when I was 14 and in a relationship with one of her sons, we've remained close ever since. Tracy's youngest son was falsely accused of rape in 2018, it went to trial in front of a Judge and Jury. This is what happened from the arrest to the trial and how they dealt with it as a family. Legally the accuser is entitled to anonymity for life. At the end of the trial the Judge said “It is not about statistics, it is about young people and their lives and what they have gone through, this is a week that they did not need to go through”.
Today I'll be talking to my friend Kaya, who is quite possibly the strongest, bravest and most resilient women I know. We will be discussing how she is coping with her husband being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Kaya is also a mother of three, Marley 8, Nova 2 and Sonny 10 weeks.
There's no one else I know, who has seen more red flags that my first guest, a friend of over 20 years, Jess. Even after everything she has been through, Jess shows that you can still find happiness and love after a toxic relationship. “You can recognize survivors of abuse by their courage. When silence is so very inviting, they step forward and share their truth so others know they aren't alone.” - Jeanne McElvaney
