On the inaugural episode of She Did What?! we tell the story of The Million Dollar Baby Dolls in the early twentieth century. These women are at the inception of jazz and made cultural moves that helped a community cope with the racism, sexism and classism that was prevalent during the Jim Crow era. Although the stories of these women were mostly lost to history, their courage still rings today in the streets of New Orleans. Thank you to Azuah for providing theme music.
