Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus has some of the most memorable moments in an FPS but the game is held back by some glaring issues that take away the fun for players. It seems that Machine Games was rushed by Bethesda with how disjointed the game can be at times.
Most games created have decent to beautiful art. Destiny is a prime example of a gorgeous game with a complete lack of engaging story. Many small indie games look amazing but have awful mechanics. Art does not create an engaging game. A great story with amazing mechanics can get away with dull art. The reverse is not true.
Games like The Forest, Ark Survival, DayZ, and Rust all follow a similar formula with its gameplay. In this video, I discuss why these video games lack value for myself as a player. The crafting survival genre is entertaining, but it ultimately lacks a reason to be there. These video games need to mix up the formula.
