So...Where you from?

Chris grew up in a town that makes me think of a post card when she describes her experiences there. Jump off your deck into waist-deep snow? Check. Swim in a gorgeous lake all summer? Check. Let's all road trip to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota with Chris while she answers the question, "So...Where You From?"

We felt like it was time to give an update on how things are going for us during "The Shutdown". That's what we call it. We're adjusting to things and that's probably the best way to describe it.

This is NOT normal.I'm taking a break from featuring stories of where people are from. My 9 year old daughter, Alex, and I thought we should talk about things we have done to help us feel better right now. So, this episode is us, having a real conversation about things that make us feel good and things we've tried that have failed at making us feel better. The point is we thought you might feel the same way and we want to let you know that you're not alone.

Ever wondered what it's like to grow up in a town so small it can't support a McDonald's? What do you do for fun? Why do some choose to stay and others choose to go? Lori sheds a lot of light on small town life in her story of growing up with a population of 800 in northeast Nebraska.

Elaine's story involves gymnastics, Taco Bell, Camaro's and pharmacy school. Naturally.

Tiffany, a former surgical room nurse, was born and raised in Kansas. She talks in her story about how she's been blessed with such a great life...Except, for that incident with the Olean chips and a baby blanket.

Having a father who was transferred regularly led her to attending 3 high schools in four years. It also exposed her to diversity that most of us haven't experienced as adults. Hers is definitely a unique story. This is Sara.

Spoiler alert: Ann is the youngest of 17 kids...which begs the question: How did she make it to age 14, throwing the ball by stepping with the wrong foot forward? I guess we already know 16 of them failed their sibling duty in one major area, but if you're interested in the rest, (like how she ended up at Notre Dame) you might want to take a listen. It's a pretty great story.

This is the first episode in the series, "So...Where you From?". Each episode features a guest answering that question by telling their own story. Everybody is from somewhere and usually that is a pretty good story. This is Laura's.
