Recently the National Center on Deaf-Blindness was asked by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to design a national certification system for interveners. As a part of this work, the team was challenged to design a digital portfolio that would capture applicants' "evidences" of knowledge and skills. Rather than starting from scratch, the team found an open source system to customize called Mahara. Hear about what we are learning and how we are teaming to take paper and pencil artifacts into a digital portfolio and back again!

What makes a good customer experience? What is 'delight' in the context of customer interaction? What does 'delight' mean for TRI and our projects? Gail, Kjerstin, Shelby, Jeff, and Eric attended the Delight Conference in October of 2014. In this podcast, they offer an overview of the conference and some specific examples of delight in web design, print and graphic design, and written word / social media.

Robbin Bull of the NCDB project tells us why video captioning is important for more than just accessibility.  She also provides training on various captioning styles and techniques. Robbin dispels the myth that video captioning must be an arduous and painstaking process by showing how to use the YouTube captioning tools.

The due date for TRI promotion portfolios is right around the corner. Presenting your portfolio online instead of in print has many rewards but can also be challenging. In this presentation I discuss how to analyze your content for online presentation, which tools are useful for getting your content on the web quickly in a visually compelling way, and the special considerations you should keep in mind before committing to an online portfolio.
