All things Gig Harbor, from the good to the bad to the ridiculous.
Hey Gig Harbor! and Welcome to This Side of the Bridge episode 45! Our last couple episodes had some great info from County Councilman Derek Young, so go back and listen to those if you missed out. This week we cover Mayor Kuhn’s push to open Gig Harbor and the city’s interview with Dr. Chen from the Pierce County Health Department about what we should all be doing to stay safe. After that it goes a sideways...really...cannibal rats and an island in Canada that is, well, phallicaly named. Never fear, we wind the show up with info about farmers markets, Pierce Transit and Gig Harbor’s own Wendy O’neill and and her fund raising efforts for small businesses. Pour a drink, tune in, drop a comment or click the share button. Cheers GH!
Hey Gig Harborites! We got the rest of that Derek Young interview you've been asking about and its just as good as the first half! We get right into it, touching on the mental health issues coming down the pipeline, the possibility of a state income tax, and local farmers and food distribution problems (did you know there are mobile slaughter houses?). Then, Derek gets to correct Rainn for his outrage about churches getting PPP (apparently its for a legitimate reason). That, of course, leads into the Jesse Young church 'thing' Then we wrap up our time with a few more bits and pieces about federal aid and and a short history lesson. Finally, we wrap with discussion on gyms, Nigerian Princes and WA's, apparently scammable unemployment system. Give this wild episode a listen, send us a message or comment, share a share, and pour yourself one! Cheers!
Well GH we really stepped it up this week and brought on a special guest. His name is Derek Young. You may remember him from such roles as Gig Harbor city council man and Pierce County councilman and now TSOTB guest! Derek is truly conscientious and dedicated to making Pierce County better for us and we’re honored to him on the show. Before we get to that though you have to put up with our usual randomness as we bounce from insurance company accountability to restaurant opening requirements, and a brief discussion involving Mayor Kuhn, a petition and a local church. Sit back and enjoy this show. We loved our time with Derek Young...no bullshit, just good info. Share the link, drop a comment and pour a drink. Cheers!
