Filling the void left by religion, discussing issues around the abandonment of faith, more specifically Islam, and generally trying to understand the world as it is without imploring God. We are joined by ex-muslims who tell their stories, articulate their thinking, and take a closer look at the wor…
Is the prophet Mohammed really the best role model set forth for all time as is claimed by the Quran and Muslims? What do the Muslim sources tell us about his life? and should he be revered? After years of reverence, Ali Malik abandoned his faith because he could no longer justify the actions of Mohammed as documented by the earliest Muslim sources. We discuss morality, Mohammed, and explore why so many muslims continue to sing his praises in spite of the evidence. Ali Malik is an outspoken activist and currently collaborates with CEMB spokesperson Sadia Hameed on a YouTube channel called PaakAtheists.
Before 2007, Ex-Muslims were an underground movement very much concerned for their safety. In 2007 however, Hassan Radwan came out publicly addressing his contentions with Islam making him one of the first to do so. Having spent 15 years teaching at Yusuf Islam's Islamia school in London, his decision to leave Islam raised eyebrows, and confused many in the community. Today, he has mentored hundreds if not thousands through his content online, and has cleared the path for many to follow in his footsteps. We discuss his journey, opinions and prospects for the ex-Muslim community. Check out Hassan Radwan on youtube here.
Are we just another animal species occupying this random corner of the universe that we call home? And what does it mean to be human? In this episode, we build on episode one, and take a closer look at the evolution of human behaviour, as we ask, are we just another animal? With our discussion taking us from sexual behaviour to game theory, we hope to scratch the surface on this extensive subject.
It's been 137 years since the death of Charles Darwin, yet his theory still faces grave opposition. In this episode, two former theists discuss the evidence for evolution, as presented by the Neo-Darwinian synthesis, and endeavour to explain why the theory of evolution has caused so much anxiety for so many. Can religion be reconciled with evolution, and should we be optimistic about the future relationship between creationism and the science of evolution?
Two former theists in conversation examine theories of pre-history in an attempt to answer the big questions about the origins of religion. We examine how religion began, the forces that have preserved it for so long, the functions it serves in society, and discuss why many still believe, in spite of increased scientific discovery. We also examine common arguments cited in favour of God, as we try to unravel the "truth" behind religion.
