Develop presence through ambiguity, chaos and our modern culture of endurance.
What would you do with an opportunity to explore a deeper connection with yourself? What if that opportunity also brought connection with others? This episode is an invitation to just that. We dive into the art, and science of ASMR (Autonomous Sesnsory Meridian Repsonse). I stumbled across this phenomenon three years ago when attempting to treat my insomnia with guided meditation. What I found was an entire universe of creators focused on helping millions of their audiences relax and sleep. I am joined by one of these creators to begin the conversation. Grace is an ASMRtist, voice actor and writer who will share with us what ASMR really is. You will hear stories from both of us on what ASMR feels like and how it helps us cultivate self-connection. Grace also demonstrates some ASMR trigger sounds so you can experience it yourself! Part Two with LaTonya Wilkins!
Sixty percent of folks from underrepresented groups expend an emotional tax at work. This may include a lack of belonging, masking emotions because their experiences don't "fit" or not feeling safe enough to bring their full identities to the table. That's a lot of people who feel frayed at the edges and miss out on thriving. I am joined by LaTonya Wilkins - a Chicago-based executive coach, speaker, and Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI) strategist. She tells us what remaining unfrayed looks like if you are underrepresented at work through courage and finding your tribe. In Part Two, we highlight the responsibility leaders & organizations have in equity and inclusion. LaTonya talks about dealing with the MUCK under the training, hashtags, and shiny ads -- a feature in her upcoming book, Leading Below the Surface (releasing 2021)! Many thanks to LaTonya for this incredible discussion. I am honored to have had the opportunity to chat with her especially in this crucial snapshot of our history in the Black Lives Matter movement.
