"We should not be listening to things outside of us. Your body is telling you what you need." In this episode, Heather and Corey Colwell explore what happens when life forces you to stop long enough to hear the messages your body has been trying to communicate all along. Through a remarkable story that begins with a coyote bite at two years old and winds through years of health challenges, motherhood, overachievement, and a profound near-death experience, this conversation invites you into the space where intuition, healing, and purpose converge. At its heart, this episode is about learning to listen, not to the endless noise outside of us, but to the wisdom already living within our bodies, our souls, and the quiet nudges that keep trying to guide us back toward alignment, vitality, and a life that feels deeply alive. What to listen for: ☑️ How getting bitten by a coyote at two years old shaped her passion in later life ☑️ Busyness and constantly moving forward keep you from listening to my body ☑️ The near-death experience that helped Corey choose to be in this life "When people say fighting for your life, you have to recruit everything to get alive again. And so I fought my way back from that moment." ☑️ The importance of listening to that intuitive primal knowing when it comes up ☑️ What it feels like when your soul fully aligns with your body and human experience ☑️ Why it wasn't enough to just be alive and in bed, and what helped turn things around "I was alive, and everyone's like, 'Great, just stay in bed.' And what happened is I started to experience an intellectual and passion death because my entire why is to solve problems and innovate." ☑️ How to start answering the question of what your body actually needs to thrive ☑️ Why we try to control the outcomes in our children's lives rather than surrendering ☑️ We shouldn't be listening to things outside of us; we should be leaning in *** About Corey Colwell: Corey Colwell doesn't study problems. She solves them. She is the person you call when you're stuck — not because she'll tell you why you got there, but because she'll already see three ways out. A licensed psychotherapist (LMFT), published author, and innovation strategist, Corey has spent nearly three decades finding patterns across health, sustainability, media, education, and beyond — and building the bridges to turn those patterns into real, lasting change. Her ideas have reached millions through outlets like Good Morning America, NPR, and CNN, and her collaborators have included Whole Foods, HGTV, and the Non-GMO Project. As founding COO of SNiP Nutrigenomics (snipnutrition.com), she's now helping reshape the future of health through genetic intelligence and hyper-personalized nutrition. Corey is a recent empty-nest mom and lives in Seattle with her soulmate husband and infinitely amusing rescue dogs. I used to believe success came after reaching a certain milestone—a bigger income, a dream home, or even a Porsche. But when I finally bought the car that had been on my vision board for years, I realized something surprising: achievement doesn't create identity, identity creates achievement. In this episode, I share the personal story behind that realization and the lessons it taught me about limiting beliefs, investing in yourself, and becoming the person capable of creating the life you want.Things I CoverWhy success starts with identityLetting go of limiting beliefsThe power of betting on yourselfThree mistakes entrepreneurs makeFour questions to help you growIf this episode resonated with you, share it with another entrepreneur, subscribe to the Play Bigger Podcast, and leave a review!---

Do you feel pressured to post on social media daily to keep your coaching business alive? Visibility in coaching doesn't depend on daily social media posts. There is an alternative: collaborative visibility strategies that create evergreen, compounding results instead of content with a 24-hour shelf life. Today's conversation draws a clear line between marketing and coaching, unpacking a full visibility-to-client ecosystem of getting seen in the right adjacent spaces, using a genuine lead magnet to build an email community, and nurturing that community into coaching clients without relying on sales tactics. Ready to change your thinking about visibility as a coach? Join us to learn more about thriving in your space without being enslaved to daily social media posts.Polly Pollock is a speaker, published author, and the founder of Neuropreneur Rising. She mentors coaches with ADHD and busy brains toward capacity-conscious marketing, redefining consistency as regular, intentional action toward a specific result rather than a daily habit. To sum it up, Polly's philosophy is that weekly intention matters more in marketing than the daily social media grind.Show Highlights:Challenging your thinking around consistencyThree filters for choosing a visibility strategy: niche-specific spaces, alignment with your strengths, and honoring your real-life capacityFocus on collaborative visibility: podcast appearances, guest teaching/speaking, and leading workshops.Time management strategies: use time blocking and replace worn-out marketing strategies with high-leverage activities that align with your unique strengths“We have the hardest time with consistency in doing something we hate. If we enjoy it, it's easier to be consistent.”Polly's best tip for getting started with podcast guesting: Make sure you know exactly who your ideal client is and what podcasts they are listening to. (Find the space where you can resonate with those who need what you are offering.)Pitching without AI: Authentic, researched pitches that lead with value win over generic, templated outreach.Leading with value is the most important starting point in business, marketing, and sales.Strategically using lead magnets to build your email community (“Give before you get.”)Understanding the visibility-to-client ecosystem in today's worldPolly's key takeaway: “Send one pitch to a podcast, company, or community in which you want to teach and share value.”Resources:Connect with Polly Pollock: Website, Instagram, and The Anti-Social Marketing Kit (FREE with code “STAR”)Connect with Meg:Explore our mentor program! It's one of the most transformative investments you can make in yourself and your coaching. I've taught or mentored over 2000 coaches, and I hear the same thing again and again. I came because I had to, and I am so glad that I did. Coaches tell me they walk away with renewed energy, deeper confidence and a community of peers who genuinely support each other. Here's what you need to know right now. Mentor coaching must span a minimum of three months, so the time to start is not when your credential is just about to expire. And if you complete your hours in 2026, you get ahead of the upcoming ICF changes, which means peace of mind along with skill development. My fall cohort is already filling up. When you walk through the historic cities of Europe, you are surrounded by massive cathedrals that have survived wars, storms, and centuries of time—all because the architects spent years pouring deep, heavy foundations before they ever built the beautiful spires. But in our own lives, we often try to build our happiness like a temporary tent, propping it up with a fleeting good mood or a fun weekend, only to watch it collapse the moment a storm hits. In this episode, we are going to explore the 'architecture of serenity,' and learn how to do the deep, unglamorous foundational work required to build an inner peace that is completely unshakeable. What does an expert in intelligence analysis find when he investigates the ultimate mystery? Today, I'm joined by Don Winner—a former NSA linguist, Special Operations intelligence officer, and investigative journalist who spent years uncovering major criminal cases. After his own father's health scare led him to question the nature of death, Don applied his elite analytical skills to the study of Near-Death Experiences (NDEs). By treating thousands of reports as "raw data," Don discovered patterns that are shockingly consistent across every culture, religion, and geography. In this episode, we dive into: * The Intelligence Approach: How Don separates "signal from noise" to identify authentic NDEs versus hallucinations or fabrications. * The Architecture of the Afterlife: Don walks us through the consistent stages of an NDE—from the out-of-body separation to the void, the tunnel, and the encounter with Source Energy. * Veridical Experiences: Mind-blowing accounts of people who "saw" things while clinically dead that would be physically impossible to witness, including the classic story of the dusty operating room lights. * Beyond Doctrine: Why NDEs consistently show that there is only one "Source Energy"—and why human attempts to label it as a judging, tribal "God" are a result of limited human language, not the reality of the experience. * Life as a Schoolhouse: Why we are truly here to learn, the nature of the life review, and why love is the only "currency" that matters on the other side. Don's research proves that consciousness does not end with the body. Whether you're a skeptic or a seeker, this conversation offers a fresh, logical perspective on what happens when we leave this "meat sack" behind. You might know today's guest, Alease the Embryologist, from social media, where she somehow manages to educate, empower and entertain while breaking down what's actually happening behind those mysterious IVF lab doors. Alease is incredibly smart and refreshingly real, and today, Ali and Alease get into ALL of it—including her own decision to freeze her eggs while happily married, because she's still on the fence about building a family, and why she chose to freeze eggs instead of embryos with her husband. Alease also takes us behind the scenes of the embryology lab, sharing a day in the life, and also what it was like to perform egg retrievals on patients and then become the last retrieval of the day herself. She also answers some of her patients—and your—most burning questions: What exactly is a mosaic embryo? What happens in the lab that we never get to see? And should you actually be genetically testing your embryos?IG: alease_the_embryologistEPISODE SPONSORS: THE WORK OF ART BOOK SERIESAli's Children's Book Series about IVF, IUI and Family Building Through Assisted Reproductive Technology https://www.infertileafgroup.com/booksThe latest book in the Work of ART series, “You Are a Work of ART," is for every kiddo born through ART -- and the people who love them.Stay tuned for Petri Dish Princess, book #4, coming this fall!EXTEND FERTILITYExtend Fertility is a leading fertility clinic helping people take control of their reproductive futures through egg freezing, embryo freezing, IVF, and more. For decades, depression has often been described as the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain. But how strong is the evidence behind that idea? This episode explores one perspective on an area of medicine that continues to be actively debated and is intended to encourage thoughtful discussion—not to provide individualized medical advice. Today on The Dr. Hyman Show, I'm joined by psychiatrist and researcher Dr. Joanna Moncrieff to examine the science behind the serotonin theory and explore how it shaped modern mental health care. Together, we consider why rethinking our assumptions may open the door to a more complete understanding of depression and recovery. We discuss: • Whether depression is best understood through the lens of a chemical imbalance—or something far more complex • How the serotonin theory shaped modern psychiatry and why it's increasingly being questioned • What current research says about antidepressants, emotional numbing, and informed consent • Why lifestyle, nutrition, trauma, and social connection deserve a larger role in supporting mental health • How a more individualized, whole-person approach could change the way we think about depression and recovery Mental health treatment is deeply personal, and this episode explores one perspective on an area of medicine that continues to evolve. If you're currently taking antidepressants or other prescription medications, don't stop or change your treatment based on this discussion alone. Instead, use it as a starting point for an informed conversation with your healthcare provider. Learn More: Dr. Moncrieff recently participated in an FDA Expert Panel on SSRIs and Pregnancy. If you'd like to explore another perspective on the evidence discussed in this episode, you can watch the panel here. Some seem to believe the realm of evangelism is for “men of the cloth” . . . for pastors, ministers, evangelists. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says it’s a privilege and responsibility shared by all believers. In recent days, he’s been pointing out the tremendous lessons we can learn from Jonah’s success in Nineveh. It was the most successful evangelistic gathering in history. And there are six practical lessons we can learn from that account. Let’s take some notes. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. In this episode, I explore the timeless wisdom found in Homer's The Odyssey through a secular Buddhist lens, drawing parallels between Odysseus's arduous journey home and our own human experiences. I highlight key lessons such as the danger of numbing ourselves with comfort, akin to the Lotus Eaters, and the peril of clinging to a fixed sense of self, as seen when Odysseus identifies himself after blinding the Cyclops. I also discuss the importance of facing cravings, like the crew opening the bag of winds, the power of awareness in overcoming unexamined appetites, and the wisdom gained from confronting difficult realities, such as navigating the land of the dead or choosing between two bad options. Furthermore, I touch upon the practice of skillful patience, exemplified by Penelope, the realization that true homecoming means embracing the present rather than returning to the past, and the profound lesson of carrying our burdens, like Odysseus's oar, until they can be transformed into something useful.Explore more at eightfoldpath.com: full transcripts, guided meditations, courses, and Noah AI, an AI you can chat with about any episode or teaching.
