Welcome to an audio-led edition of Unmade. Today's episode of the Unmade podcast features the fifth stop on our Compass tour, when we visited Adelaide. If you've been thinking about upgrading to an Unmade membership, why not do it today? Your annual membership includes:* A complimentary ticket to all of Unmade's events, including HumAIn, REmade, Unlock, and Compass, all returning in 2025* Member-only content and our paywalled archives;* Your own copy of Media Unmade.* PLUS: If you subscribe before the end of next week, you'll also receive a $50 gift voucher of your choice“A big disappointment” to cancel Campaign Brief?; Uncredentialled CMOs; and too many client pitchesUnmade's Compass roadshow rolled into Adelaide last month for a lively discussion on the big industry topics. Our speakers were: Taylor Martin, chair of the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club Awards, and GM of Simple integrated marketing. She's also on the committee of She Creates championing women working in the communications industry here in AdelaideDavid Penberthy, co-presenter of 5AA's Breakfast with David & Will and News Corp columnist .Erik de Roos, Executive Director of Marketing for South Australian Tourism Commission. And Jamie Scott, Managing Director, of Showpony and former AADC co-president.Among the debate points, Taylor Martin flagged the controversy over Campaign Brief - which was slated for only featuring men in its rundown of creative talent - as the industry's loss of the year. But Jamie Scott argued that the debate that followed was a lost opportunity for the industry to commit to real change. He added: “When Campaign Brief apologised and said they would commit to change, they were still cancelled by half the industry. So the very behaviours the industry was looking for was then punished. People said ‘Oh we're going to cancel our subscription anyway'. So that was a big disappointment.”Meanwhile, Erik de Roos called out the rise of uncredentialled marketers calling themselves ”chief marketing officer”.“I could start a company tomorrow and hire some kid from the street and call them chief marketing officer, and that's fine. It's a conversation we need to be having as an industry.”Unmade Index takes another hitThe Unmade Index had a second day of triple basis point decline on Wednesday, losing another 1.62% to land on 438.7 points.Amongst the larger stocks, Ooh Media had the worst of it, losing 3.3% despite the good news that it has won a stay of execution on its Auckland Transport contract, which expires on December 31. Auckland Transport has decided to restart the tender process, meaning the contract, which Ooh Media was likely to either lose or renew on much less profitable terms, will be extended.Meanwhile Nine is once again trading below a $2bn market capitalisation.* As Unmade was about to go out of the door, Vinyl Group announced it had agreed to buy Concrete Playground for $3.5m in cash and $1.5m in shares. It said Concrete Playground had made EBITDA profits for the year of $1.5m on $4m turnover. Concrete Playground founder Rich Fogarty will leave the business.Time to leave you to your Thursday.Today's podcast was edited by Abe's Audio. Band It About - Proudly Supporting Live Music "Podcast Series"
BAND IT ABOUT - Podcast Series Guest Greg Clark is a radio, TV, and advertising legend in South Australia. He'll be remembered by many as one of the hot jocks of the 80s, spinning discs and taking requests on radio, as well as venturing into various TV shows that married current radio stars with music and chatter. Since then, he forged a career voicing and producing commercials for his own business Greg Clark Productions. Greg joined his first band while in High School, they were originally called 'Brink Water', and changed their name to 'Vancouver' a few years later. Greg was also the vocalist for local band 'FM Band', and still plays drums with his first band once a month at the Wassail Wine Bar in Prospect, they are now called 'PlanBeat'. After briefly working as a laborer putting up fences for the Red Scheme, Greg got his break with 5KA as a teenager, working in the production sphere of radio 5KA in Franklin Street, Adelaide. Starting as a cart boy at 5KA and moving through the ranks of production manager, announcer, TV presenter, freelance voiceover artist, and studio owner. Greg paneled many on air programmes and got to rub shoulders with some of the most seasoned broadcasters in the country. Luckily, a lot of their knowledge was shared and a fair amount of their polish rubbed off on Greg as well, as he transitioned into voicing commercials and presenting on air. From 1977 through to 1996 it was full time presenting with the occasional dabble in the production suite at multiple stations 5AD, SAFM & 5AA as well as presenting music shows on television, firstly on ADS7 then at NWS9 for many years. In 1997 Greg partnered up with a couple of seasoned video directors to form a one stop shop TV & Radio production company. Greg Clark Productions worked as an adjunct of Edit-Co for much of the nineties, and until now, has dominated the airwaves of Adelaide TV & radio with it's output. Music: "Band It About" theme song, written and recorded by Catherine Lambert and Michael Bryant. Outro: 'PlanBeat' performing the 1966 pop hit "Hold Tight", which was originally written and recorded by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, & Tich. Jennifer sent in a great question to "Ask the Egg Whisperer." She is 38, and from Seattle. Here's what she wrote," Hi Fertility Queen, you are the BEST! I'm 38 years old & diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. I've been through 5 rounds of IVF and have 2 5AA frozen embryos right now. My husband and I want 2 kids therefore tried to bank another embryo but the 5th round failed therefore we are moving on to a FET. I did a mock transfer and the BCL6 from the Receptiva came back positive therefore we are doing 2 Depot Lupron shots a month apart prior to the real transfer. My environment is good (healthy eating, lots of exercise, limited toxins in our beauty and cleaning products, great therapist). I'm taking a Prenatal with folate and DHA, Vitamin D, & Vitamin E. Are there any other supplements I should take? I've heard NAC may be good for endometriosis. Is there anything else I can do to prepare for this transfer? I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my pregnancy chances. Thank you so much!" The brief answer for Jennifer is this: 1. Have you done the ERA test on the two embryos you have? 2. Do you have symptoms of endometriosis? Consider the ReceptivaDX test, as it can determine if you might have silent endometriosis. 3. What other medications does your doctor have you on in addition to Depot? Tune in to hear my recommendations, and what I do for patients in similar situations, along with my answers to ten other listener questions. Tune in for my full answer, and the answer to other listener questions. To submit your own question to Dr. Aimee for a future episode of Ask The Egg Whisperer, click here. It was great fun catching up on Legends with Bevo recently with one of the real characters of footy, Richard Champion aka Champs. We spoke about his junior footy career, including an incredible A-Grade footy debut at Kadina as a 15 year old, what it was like to play under some of the greatest footy names of all time including Blight, Ebert and Matthews and some interesting methods some of his coaches had. We also discussed what it was like to play against some of the best full forwards of all time such as: Modra, Ablett, Dunstall, Carey and Lockett and how Champs nearly ended up at the Adelaide Crows. Champs and I looked back on an incident in a SANFL game back in 1990 which led to one of the biggest melees in history. You can book Champs as an MC by going to his website below, if you're lucky he might even sing a song or two for you. https://www.richardchampion.com.au/ Video footage thanks to You Tube. Thanks so much to Champs for his time, Leith Forrest from 5AA for helping tee up the chat and Rory Noke from PodBooth for a great job of filming and editing the video.

My guest this week is the extraordinary Jane Reilly. There’s not many people who could boast about staying at the top of their game in their profession for some 40 plus years, especially in the media industry but that’s what makes Jane Reilly special.Jane graced our TV screens for a whopping thirty-seven years as weather presenter before transitioning into radio.Jane was the first weather reporter in South Australia to get out of the studio and into the community and when she did, not only did Jane’s career bloom but so did South Aussie’s love for her.Suddenly, Jane wasn’t just preparing us for the week ahead with her weather reports but she was sharing the untold stories of our community members and making the little people feel important.I truly think that’s what makes Jane Reilly so loved and so well respected in South Australia.I just loved this candid chat with the impeccable Jane Reilly and I hope you do too.Heaps Good Adelaide is a good news platform about South Aussies who love what they do and where they live. Daniel BoydHARMONY AND JOYPhilippians 4:2-5aA theme that Paul has carried since chapter 1 is standing firm (or standing strong). As a general rule we are enamored with people, who are able to stand strong like that. Persons that are unwavered by the opinions of others, unmoved by the circumstances that frighten others and boldly charge ahead, whether that be in business, in politics, in family relationships, or middle of the jungle adventures.A case study on disagreementThe unavoidable problem with standing firm is that sinful tends to get entrenched over things that aren't a matter of separation. That's what brings about the passage we are going to study this morning. Paul introduces us to yet another set of people that we do not know, but can learn a great deal from. The SituationEuodia and Syntyche aren't getting along and their situation has reached the ears of Paul. I imagine Paul learned about their situation from Epaphroditus and not that their quarrel had become well-known throughout the Roman empire… that would be a bit embarrassing. We can surmise from these four verses that this isn't too different a situation from what we still face today in our Churches. Two prominent women 2aThe fact that these two women are mentioned by name indicates that they were well-known persons in the Church. In Acts 16:11-23 we read about Paul's first missionary journey to Philippi and learn that he could not go to a synagogue first (as was his custom), since there were not enough Jewish men. Paul ends up at the river outside city limits and finds Jewish “women” that were gathered together on the Sabbath. Lydia is also introduced to us in Philippi. In Philippians 4:3 Paul remembers that these women had labored together with Paul in the gospel. Two strong opinions 2bThe matter of disagreement must not have been theological, for Paul would have laid that discord to rest by explaining which one of the two women was right. So this is a personality or preference conflict. Two serious dangers 2b, 5aProminent figures have a following among people, so this conflict, though not theological, could result in people picking sides and factions arising in the Church. This is contrary to Christ's design for the Church and the teaching that Paul has been laying out since chapter 1.Secondly, verse five draws our (and their) attention to the reputation of the Church: let your reasonableness be known to everyone. We tend not to think of how fightings and disputes in the Church can look to the unbeliever on the outside looking in.The ApproachPaul adopts a very direct and simple approach and we can learn from his example in dealing with conflict in the Church. He faces the situation head-on 2aHe is clear about the problem and solution 2b, 3bHe engages the Church 3aPaul names their names and does it in a public fashion (their disagreement has been public, why not their correction?). The goal is clear-cut: agree in the Lord. Paul calls upon someone specific to help these women get to where they need to be.There is a question about the words “true yokefellow”in verse 2. Many translations for the word suzegos have been suggested, but since Paul has been to clear in naming all parties involved and goes on to mention Clement in just a moment, it seems perhaps best NOT to translate this word, but instead the capitalize the first letter and make it someone's name. Paul called upon Suzegos to help these women. When Paul adds the adjective “true” to this man's name, he is entreating him to be true to his name… Suzegos means to “bring under one yoke” and so Paul is asking him to be a real Suzegos and to help these women to get into the same yoke together and be of one mind.ConfrontationThe Bible is very clear about confrontation in the Church and I would like to finish our study of God's Word this morning by thinking about four Biblical principles in regards to confrontation. We tend to shy away from it, because we've seen it go awry too often, but confrontation is intended to be a loving process whereby fellow believers help each other to walk worthy of our calling in Christ. The Principle of ConfrontationThe principle is found in many places in Scripture, but perhaps clearest in Galatians 6:1 and Hebrews 10:24-25. We are told to consider one another, to look into the lives of fellow brothers and sisters and if necessary to say something. Sometime we can be blind to our own faults and we need faithful brothers and sisters in Christ to point out our blind spot. The Steps of ConfrontationNo passage is as clear as Matthew 18. Jesus Himself addresses this issue and instructs us to always confront one-on-one. If he doesn't listen, you broaden to net and go with another brother or two, so that by the testimony of two or three he can be convinced. If he doesn't listen, you broaden the net again and make it known to the Church. Why? So that all of the members may have opportunity to lovingly confront this person, so that by the testimony of the entire Church that person may see his folly. If he chooses not to listen to the Church, he has removed himself from the Church's influence and authority and the Church responds in kind. The Goal of ConfrontationThe goal is always restoration: to save that person from their sin. Or as Christ puts it: to win that person. This process has become belabored because it has been labeled “Church discipline”, but it need to be difficult and heavy… it is simply intended to help in love. The Sadness of ConfrontationIf a person refuses to listen, Paul instructs us (as does Jesus and James) to let that person go, to treat them as not a part of the Church. Their going will result in their own condemnation (perhaps not eternal, but evidencing their own sin). They would not listen.I want to conclude this sermon by pointing out one last thing about this passage and that is the ever-present sphere of living: in the Lord! Paul command us to stand firm in the Lord, to be of one mind in the Lord, and to rejoice in the Lord. How are we to walk? As followers of the cross… or constantly in the Lord.Harmony and joy are possible when the Lord is our focus.

Tonight we launch our much awaited theme song, Adelaidee Hoo. Could this be destined to become the next Adelaide Pub Anthem? We think it has potential, all we need are some singers ;-) We toast our late patron with a Lady Bay Tempranillo - a surprising drop. Colin sports a moustace and bemoans motorists de-hairing themselves at the traffic lights. Brett gets all pedantic about language with a revelation sure to bug the living daylights out of you. Plus there are fond remembrances of childhood including an iconic TV jingle lovingly reproduced (cough) and the Adelaide Visa Council has a mixed bag with 5AA celebrity Andrew Reimer before the court and an expat Aussie jazz muso facing the music.
