Baseball Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend

Maeda made his first start of Spring Training and struck out two in his lone inning of the game. Pollock had two hits and walked through 6 innings. Bellinger also made his first start of Spring Training after dealing with a sore back this past weekend. The pitching held up really well through the first 3 innings not giving up a hit. Ben Holmes and Shea Spitzbarth struggled in the 8th surrendering 7 runs to give the Royals a run away lead. Shane Peterson hit a solo home run in the 9th but it wasn’t enough to help the Dodgers rally back from a 8-run deficit.

Dodgers lost a legend with Don Newcombe’s passing on Tuesday morning but the team will commemorate him all season long with a “36” patch on their sleeve. Seager is a full go outside or throwing across the diamond and Walker Buehler threw his first bullpen of camp on Wednesday. Plus more updates about this week in Spring Training. The Dodgers traded for their old catcher, Russell Martin, from the Blue Jays. This trade has a lot of fans wondering what they maybe doing but I’m actually very intrigued by this trade and what it could possibly lead to. As of now the Dodgers are still the favorites to win the NL West and we may not see any big moves until the trade deadline when they can decide what needs to be fixed. With only 40 more days until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training the Dodgers still have quite a few positions to fill. But with Harper and Machado still not having signed a contract the rest of the market seems to be on hold as well. The Dodgers have added a few minor league guys to the team over the last week for organizational depth but we are all still waiting for that big signing or trade. The Dodgers have yet to make a big move this offseason and we are all still waiting very patiently. The Dodgers almost made a trade for Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli but the trade fell through at the last minute.
