Hello and thank you for joining us on episode number seven of The Collins Report! In this episode Josh and Terry start by discussing the tragic death of Braeden Bradforth , an offensive lineman, at Garden City Community College. Braeden passed away, in August of last year, after suffering a heat stroke from overly rigid training regime.  After introducing the story of Braeden Josh and Terry talk about coaches running kids into the ground, possible solutions for coaches, and should physical exercise be used as a punishment. They then talk about a Washington Post article about the correlation between Basketball and ACL tears, allowing for rest, the right age to start injury prevention for your children, and dialing in the proper type of footwear. In the last few minutes of the show Josh and Terry recap their responses and the lessons from their last episode with Keion Brooks Sr. and Keion Brooks Jr. We’ll catch you next week, Thanks! Hello and thank you for joining us on episode number Five of The Collins Report!  In this episode Josh and Terry start by talking off the cuff. They then talk about losing games and understanding your level, as a coach,  is higher than your athletes, and the basic principles to Basketball is easy: teamwork and communication.  Terry and Josh then talk about making mistakes, accountability, taking constructive criticism, Terry then elaborates on teamwork and communication. The ever controversial subject of AAU sports comes up and they discuss: AAU coaching technique vs high school, Summer time AAU vs the rest of the year and preparing for summer training. To wrap up the episode Josh and Terry give their opinions concerning the bench press, the NFL combine test, and peoples perceptions about the two in contrast to what is needed for true athletic performance! Hello and thank you for joining us on episode number 3 of The Collins Report! In this episode, Josh and Terry start by acknowledging the passing of Terry’s uncle, Darryl Patterson, a very influential person in his life.  Diving head-first into the episode they talk about protecting yourself as a trainer from sexual abuse allegations. Also, in the first part, Josh and Terry discuss Falling from Grace, having your identity tied up in the sports you play, and finding your purpose afterward. Then go deeper into the mental health and soul searching side of life after sports.  Josh poses the question on how to motivate young people with injuries, help those who might start a path of self-destruction and encouraging the kids they coach to have more in there life than just sports. In the last half of the podcast Josh and Terry talk about knowing when to give-up, pressure than former athletes parents put on their athlete children, living in a parent’s shadow, and building relationships with your clients.
