We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. Eric and Andrea sit down with Hallmark's modern spin on Much Ado About Nothing, Much About Love, starring Ashley Williams and Niall Matter as feuding exes Beatrice and Benedict. Both hosts land on the same 3.5 out of 5 stars, but for very different reasons, and one wordless scene at a kitchen table nearly wins them over completely. Along the way, they also reveal the fall Hallmark movies they're each committing to review next, and neither one saw the other's pick coming. What You'll Hear:• Hallmark news: Brendan Morgan lands the lead in a new scrapbooking-themed Christmas movie opposite Lindura.• A look at what's airing this week, including Garage Sale Mysteries: Picture a Murder.• Andrea's fall movie shortlist, from a near-miss with Falling for Vermont to her pick for next review, 2017's A Harvest Wedding with Jill Wagner and Victor Webster.• Eric's fall movie shortlist, including a real debate over whether Dating the Delaneys even counts as a fall movie before he lands on Country at Heart with Jessy Schram and Niall Matter.• The full breakdown of Much About Love: what Ashley Williams and Niall Matter's chemistry pulls off, and where the plot's manufactured conflict loses them.• The standout scene: a wordless moment with crayons at a kitchen table that both hosts call one of the most romantic scenes of the year.• Two comfort-watch recommendations for fans of the Beatrice-and-Benedict banter, plus a spicy Murder, She Wrote episode that shares the movie's restaurant joke.• Trivia on Ashley Williams and the surprisingly rough road Niall Matter took to his first Hallmark role.Chapters:0:00 - Cold Open: Andrea Goes Full Shakespeare1:05 - Hallmark News: Brendan Morgan Lands a New Christmas Lead3:15 - This Week's Preview: Garage Sale Mysteries: Picture a Murder4:45 - Andrea's Fall Movie Picks (Runner-Ups & the Reveal)9:30 - Eric's Fall Movie Picks (And the Country at Heart Debate)15:15 - Much About Love: The Setup and the Rating18:00 - What They Loved: Ashley Williams & Niall Matter's Chemistry22:30 - What Didn't Work: That Hallmark-Forced Conflict25:00 - Standout Scene: The Wordless Crayon Table Moment27:15 - Ranking the Romance28:45 - If You Liked This, Watch This30:30 - Trivia: Ashley Williams and Niall Matter's Real Stories32:00 - Next Week & Sign-OffWhich fall pick are you more excited to see reviewed, Andrea's A Harvest Wedding or Eric's Country at Heart? Southern Utah University gymnast Kendall McGuire joins Dustin Smith and guest host Justin Miller for a conversation about the mindset behind competing at the NCAA level.Kendall shares her journey from beginning gymnastics at two years old to competing for one of the nation's top gymnastics programs, along with her work as a sideline reporter for SUU football and her aspirations to someday work in the NFL or NHL.The conversation dives into the unique mental demands of gymnastics, overcoming fear after falls, Simone Biles and the “twisties,” mental health in athletics, body image and developing a healthier relationship with food.Kendall also shares one of the most powerful ideas from the episode: athletes often spend too much time thinking about everything they have to sacrifice and not enough time recognizing everything they gain.Instead of thinking, “I have to go to practice,” Kendall learned to think, “I get to go.”She explains how that simple reframe helped her appreciate the friendships, strength, discipline, opportunities and experiences gymnastics gave her.Kendall also discusses being fully present in practice, SUU Gymnastics' motto to “underthink it,” accepting accountability, learning from failure, becoming comfortable with discomfort and leaning on teammates who care enough to tell you the truth.A great conversation for athletes, parents and coaches about gratitude, resilience, mental health and learning to enjoy the process.Featured Moments:00:32:17 - Welcome & Meet Kendall McGuire00:33:48 - Life as an SUU Sideline Reporter00:37:50 - Kendall's Dream of Working in Sports Media00:39:11 - Fear, Falling & the Mental Side of Gymnastics00:42:12 - Simone Biles, the Twisties & Athlete Mental Health00:47:26 - Body Image, Nutrition & Eating Disorders in Gymnastics00:55:36 - The Sacrifices Behind Becoming a College Gymnast00:57:42 - “I Get To” Instead of “I Have To”00:59:33 - Growing Up Without Being Attached to Social Media01:00:22 - Staying Present in Practice01:02:17 - SUU Gymnastics: “Underthink It”01:03:48 - How Athletes Can Keep Sports Fun01:05:23 - Reframing Sacrifice as Opportunity01:07:09 - Stop Focusing on What You're Missing01:08:36 - Resilience After Setbacks01:13:18 - The Teammate Who Told Kendall the Truth01:16:31 - Getting Out of Your Own Head01:19:36 - “What If It All Goes Right?”01:21:05 - Finding People Who Truly Support You01:22:04 - Support Without Making Excuses01:24:39 - Growth Requires Getting Uncomfortable01:27:33 - Final Thoughts & Good Luck to Kendall01:28:35 - Eyes Up. Host Jesse Jackson welcomes back music journalist and author Steve Rosen to discuss his new Jeff Beck book, rewritten and expanded from a Japan-only 1978 biography originally commissioned by Player magazine. Rosen recounts growing up in Culver City listening to early rock, discovering Jeff Beck through the Yardbirds and seeing the Jeff Beck Group in 1969, and how learning guitar fueled a deep-dive curiosity that led to music journalism. He describes his earliest reviews for school papers, the LA Free Press, and eventually major rock and guitar magazines, plus meeting and befriending Eddie Van Halen in 1977. Rosen explains why Beck was under-covered—rare touring, long gaps, and instrumental direction—shares musicians' respect for Beck alongside stories of his erratic bandleading, plugs tonechaserbook.com, and answers the “Thunder Road” question. https://a.co/d/005a57V5 01:28 Meet Steve Rosen 02:48 Jeff Beck Book Reborn 04:46 Growing Up in Culver City 07:53 Falling for Jeff Beck 11:13 Deep Dive Guitar Obsession 14:25 First Byline Breakthrough 20:41 Meeting Eddie Van Halen 26:11 Writing the First Beck Bio 29:09 Rewriting the Beck Book 29:47 Why Beck Stayed Underrated 32:27 Artists on Beck's Genius 33:05 Band Leader Chaos Stories 34:52 The Grind Behind Touring 37:31 Tech Changed Music Careers 40:02 YouTube as a Learning Accelerator 45:06 Does Mary Get in the Car 50:07 Final Plugs and Farewell Learn more about your ad choices. Falling asleep is often less about forcing sleep and more about creating the conditions where your nervous system finally believes it is safe to let go. This guided sleep story leans into that idea with a simple promise: right now there is nowhere to be, nothing to solve, and nothing expected of you. Using bedtime relaxation, mindful breathing, and a slow-paced visualization, the practice helps you shift from a busy mind into a calmer body. From there, let's drift into a calming visualization, floating on the softest cloud beneath a sky full of stars. As thoughts pop up, we practice notice the thought, name it gently as “thinking” or “planning,” and let it move on like a cloud passing the moon. We also pause to remember one small peaceful moment from the day, because even a tiny spark of joy can shift the nervous system toward safety.I close with affirmations you can whisper in the dark and a practical technique for insomnia and night waking: count your breath down from 10 to 1, restart when you need, and return to the count each time a thought pulls you away. If this helped, subscribe for more calming stories, share it with someone who needs better sleep, and leave a review with your favorite part of the wind-down.Let me know what you'd like to hear more about on the showSupport the showI'm Carol Clegg, a life coach offering gentle accountability coaching and I am a curious conversationalist. If you enjoy reflection, fresh perspectives, and honest dialogue, this space is for you.If you'd like to experience this work in community, I host a complimentary monthly Accountability Circle a supportive space to pause, gain clarity, and choose a gentle next step forward. America is facing a new version of the COVID-era control system — and this time it is being built through mass data centers, Flock surveillance cameras, digital tracking, digital addiction, and expanded biomedical mandates. Yet thanks to Trump, the professional Right is not only on the wrong side of the issue but is scoring points for its own stated enemies. Along with updated news on data centers, Flock cameras, and vaccines, you will hear a lot of political theories on how the same online members of the Right who swore it would never allow COVID to happen again are the biggest enablers of the new version. The battle over America’s data centers is heating up, and the stakes go far beyond local zoning fights. Buck breaks down why opposition to data centers is growing, how President Trump is pushing for faster AI infrastructure development, and why China has a major interest in seeing America’s buildout slowed down. The question is bigger than any one project: Can America address legitimate local concerns without surrendering its technological advantage in the global AI race? Why are mortgage rates still so high in 2026, even as President Trump pushes for lower interest rates? That's the question a lot of buyers, homeowners, investors, and real estate professionals are asking right now.In this week's The Brief, Kenny Simpson breaks down what's actually keeping mortgage rates elevated and why the answer goes far beyond who is sitting in the White House. We cover:• Why Trump wants interest rates lower• Why presidents don't directly control mortgage rates• How the Iran conflict is affecting markets and inflation expectations• The impact of tariffs on rates• What the latest jobs and consumer numbers are telling us• Why slowing wage growth matters for inflation• What Kevin Warsh and Scott Bessent can actually do• Why mortgage rates could have room to fall• What needs to happen before we see meaningful rate reliefKenny's view is that the underlying economic picture isn't particularly strong: the jobs market is struggling, the consumer is slowing, GDP is lukewarm, and inflation has not risen as much as feared. But continued uncertainty surrounding Iran is making it harder for markets and policymakers to move toward lower rates. There is some good news. Kenny explains that the spread between the 10-year Treasury and 30-year fixed mortgage rate has narrowed significantly. In his view, without that improvement, mortgage rates could currently be substantially higher. So when will mortgage rates finally come down?Watch the full episode for Kenny's take on what needs to happen next.
The final hour begins with In The Loop looking ahead to the NFL season and going through a list of teams most likely to improve and teams that could take a step back. The guys debate which franchises are positioned to make a jump, which teams may have overachieved last season, and where the Texans fit into the conversation. The show wraps with Figgy's Mixtape, as the new NFL x Disney collaboration leads Figgy to ask an important question: Which Disney character best represents the Houston Texans? Plus, a weatherman gets an uncontrollable case of the giggles on-air and more wild stories.

The machine that broke the economy in 2008 has been rebuilt — and this time it's made of AI. Jay breaks down the $2 trillion in promised future payments that Microsoft, Oracle, Google and Amazon are counting as guaranteed revenue, why those promises come from companies that lose billions every year, and how the same structure powered the housing bubble — which actually died in 2006, while prices were still at record highs. He explains why a nearly free Chinese AI model is now attacking the growth that holds the whole thing up, why Washington's proposed ban could make it worse, and the one number that signals when the machine starts to break. Ernesto Araújo and Alejandro Peña Esclusa, with Edmund Fitton-Brown: In Brazil, falling poll numbers have panicked President Lula, prompting him to call Donald Trump despite years of anti-American rhetoric. Araújo explains this reflects the US's central role in combating South American "narcosocialist" regimes. Meanwhile, in Venezuela, Delcyand Jorge Rodríguez are simulating cooperation with the US while delaying presidential elections to buy time. Peña Esclusa notes that Venezuelan opposition members are negotiating Supreme Court appointments rather than election dates or political prisoners. Both guests will attend Slovenia's Bled Strategic Forum to discuss Latin America's right-wing political shift and potential energy partnerships with Europe. (3)
What happens when the life you built starts crushing you and you finally decide you can't live that way anymore?I was stuck in a situation I desperately wanted out of, and the process of getting out was making me lose my mind. We had been looking for a house for so long, and every month we stayed in the city felt heavier. I knew I needed a change, but I couldn't just snap my fingers and make it happen. This is about that weird, frustrating period of feeling completely trapped in a life that wasn't working for me anymore, and how getting to the other side of it changed me more than I expected. The city was crushing me, the house search was driving me insane, and I was ready for something to finally give.Follow Madison: @madisoncicconeWork with Madison 1 x1: heymaddz@gmail.comMadison's Website: https://madisonciccone.com/Buy the Gratitude Journal on Amazon PrimeRide with her at SoulCycle in Boston
If bedtime in your house feels like a nightly negotiation, or you're the one lying in the dark at 2 a.m. wondering why nothing seems to work, this conversation is for you. Pediatric sleep consultant Allison Ezell spent years stuck between a sleep doctor telling her to sleep train and a TBRI therapist affirming the trauma-informed parenting she knew her son needed, unable to find anyone who could bridge the two. She eventually became the person she needed, and she's bringing that hard-won wisdom to us today. What We Cover in This Episode The two building blocks of sleep science, sleep associations and sleep pressure, and why understanding sleep associations alone resolves most of the sleep struggles Allison sees. The difference between "putting a child to sleep" and "putting a child to bed," and why that distinction matters most for kids who wake in the middle of the night. A practical bedtime routine built around what a body actually needs to fall asleep: sensory input earlier in the evening, a warm bath or shower, real connection, and a small snack. How to build felt safety around bedtime fears through repeated, low-pressure exposure, and a gradual pullback method for weaning off sleep associations without a jarring overnight switch. A consistent, scripted response for middle-of-the-night wake-ups, plus the red flags (frequent waking, restless legs, long sleep onset, excessive daytime sleepiness) that mean it's time to talk to a doctor. Back in 1988, CBS gave us Garfield: His 9 Lives, an anthology special where our favorite lasagna enthusiast got to be a caveman, a pampered Egyptian god-cat, and an honest-to-goodness astronaut fending off an interstellar war fleet. Ambitious! Mythic, even! Then in 2006, Lucky Jump Games and The Game Factory looked at that legacy, borrowed the exact same title for a Game Boy Advance platformer, and said: actually, what if his nine lives were a farm, a haunted house, a circus, a sewer, a tree, an alley, an obedience school, and a lab? No pyramids. No space combat. Just Garfield, freshly stuffed from an eating binge, suffering eight increasingly damp nightmares about locations you could reach on foot from his own kitchen. Climbing out of Garfield's nightmare to help us survey the damage is Derek B Gayle, who hosts or co-hosts what feels like an ever-multiplying stable of shows including Walloping Websnappers, Gimmicks, Skreeonk!, and, at this point, so many other podcasts that keeping an accurate list may violate several laws of podcast physics. If Garfield hates Mondays, Derek looked at that same feeling and apparently decided the correct response was to start four more podcasts to fill the time. So raid the fridge, settle in for a night you won't remember fondly, and let's find out if Garfield and His Nine Lives earned its spot next to the caveman, the pharaoh, and the astronaut, or if it should've stayed exactly the kind of dream you forget the second your alarm goes off. Learn such things as: Are names of things even really that important? Why would you ever try to save your mortal enemy? Can you be surprised by anything, or anyone, that Garfield runs across? And so much more! One in three Australian kids is struggling to read at the expected level. In a classroom of 30, that’s 10 children falling behind. Justin speaks with Rachel Amorosakra from Reading Out of Poverty about what poor literacy looks like for kids, why access to books in the first five years matters so much, and the confronting reality for children in remote communities who may not own a single book. With Book Week approaching, they look at a practical way families can help put culturally appropriate books into the hands of children in East Arnhem Land. KEY POINTS One in three Australian children is not meeting grade-level expectations in reading. Struggling to read affects far more than English. It can make maths, science and other subjects harder too. Falling behind can leave children embarrassed, disengaged and believing they simply aren't smart. The first five years are critical for building vocabulary, imagination and early literacy skills. Books create connection between children and caregivers, not just reading skills. Many children in remote East Arnhem Land communities have little access to books. Reading Out of Poverty is providing culturally appropriate literacy packs to children this Book Week. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “Books aren't just about the reading itself. It's about building connection with parents and caregivers.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Reading Out of Poverty Book Week Reading Out of Poverty literacy packs for children in East Arnhem Land Each $25 donation funds one literacy pack containing five age-appropriate books and educational resources. ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Read with your child regularly, especially during the early years. Make books easy to reach and part of everyday family life. Let young children choose books they want to hear again and again. Use stories as time to connect, talk and explore ideas together. This Book Week, consider donating a literacy pack to help a child in East Arnhem Land access books of their own. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Len Testa and Jim Hill are on the ground in Anaheim for D23, where they dig into the week's Disney news before exploring how Anaheim evolved from vineyards and citrus groves into the home of Disneyland. Along the way, they examine a Disney patent that could create the illusion of elevation changes on future attractions, a proposed Spaceship Earth television series, and Bob Chapek's upcoming book. Then Jim traces the fascinating history of the Anaheim Packing House and the agricultural economy that helped make Walt Disney's land purchase possible. NEWS • A newly published Disney patent could make riders feel as though they're climbing or dropping while their ride vehicle remains on a flat surface. • Could the technology be destined for the upcoming Encanto attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom? • Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is already selling out select dates at both ends of the 2026 event calendar. • Another infrastructure problem hits Disney's Wilderness Lodge, this time involving water service at Boulder Ridge. • Disney is developing a Spaceship Earth-inspired television project built around teenagers, time travel, and a threat to Earth's future. • Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek prepares to tell his side of the story in his upcoming book, Behind the Castle Walls. FEATURE • Jim traces Anaheim's beginnings to 50 German families who established a thriving wine-growing community in the 1850s. • Root rot pushed the region from vineyards toward orange groves and walnut farms, helping reshape Anaheim's agricultural economy. • Railroad expansion turned the Anaheim Packing District into a major hub for shipping fresh California produce across the country. • Falling agricultural land values helped Harrison "Buzz" Price identify Anaheim as the ideal location for Walt Disney's new family park. • Disneyland's arrival accelerated Anaheim's transformation from an agricultural community into a tourism destination. • The historic Anaheim Packing House survived redevelopment pressure and reopened in 2014 as a modern food hall that preserves a piece of the city's past. James Romm — Multi-Part, Part Two: Professor James Romm details the violent collapse of the Dionysian dynasty and its influence on Plato's writing. Following a falling out and exile, Dion launched an invasion to liberate Syracuse. However, his rule descended into factionalism, culminating in the assassination of his rival Heraclides and Dion's own eventual murder by his soldiers. The chaos ended when Timoleon of Corinth forced Dionysius the Younger to abdicate; the former tyrant famously spent his final years in Corinth as a humble music teacher. Romm explains that these political failures directly informed the Republic, specifically the allegory of the cave and the concept of the philosopher king. While Plato's letters and Plutarch's accounts attempted to whitewash Dion as a virtuous leader, Romm suggests Plato was often politically naive regarding the brutal realities of Syracusan power. (2)
