We've created a world where people give more weight on how they feel and their opinions over what is factually true. Everything is based around affirming anyone and everyone, even when things are clearly on some bullshit. In this master class, you'll learn how to focus on what is factual and what actually works, rather than what you want to, or feel would work. Show Notes: [09:35]#1 You need a system for objectively measuring yourself and your actions. [16:33]#2 Get clear on the desired results and measure yourself based on results. [19:26]#3 Your business will be sustained by results. [25:40]#4 Make your decisions based on what actually works rather than what you want to work. In this week's episode we discuss the cosmic awakening of the Feminine Energy in each of us. Women are rising more than ever, stepping into their power more than ever & remembering who they are & what they came here for. I discuss ways YOU can begin to awaken the Feminine Force inside you & what your "inner feminine" truly is. We break down what paradigms are, & the ways in which we've shifted into a masculine societal structure that makes women feel like they either don't fit in or "aren't enough". In the fourth and final MINI-Series episode, we learn from sound designer, artist, and brilliant documentarian James T. Green about their philosophy and practice around sound design and creation. James is the founder of the studio Molten Heart, and their work has been heard in 99% Invisible with Roman Mars, The Met, Pop Up Magazine, and more.By unpacking and dissecting small pieces of sound and music from James, we learn the thoughtful, intentional art of sound design and the power that small amounts of sound effects - or silence - can hold. Sound can make us feel, reflect, pause, or act, and often we don't even notice this subtle art, despite its importance in providing scaffolding or key moments in building a story, a scene, or an emotion. In this episode, we make what is so often invisible in the construction of an audio story, visible.SHARE THE SHOW:Help others find Unthinkable in their favorite podcast player by sharing this link: jayacunzo.com/unthinkable-podcast***MORE FROM JAY:Playing Favorites newsletter: stories and frameworks for creating work that resonates.Coaching and consulting: Hire Jay to work with you 1:1 on the most important elements of your brand or projects.Or, hire Jay to develop and/or host a show for your brand: jayacunzo.com/shows***MORE FROM THIS EPISODE:James T. Hey Friend! I see you. Wanting to follow God's plan for your life, praying to stay His course... but finding yourself stuck. Over and over again you cycle in negative thought patterns and wonder what's wrong with you. You get triggered by past pain and tell yourself you're not enough, you can't, or you don't have what it takes... Today, my spiritual growth mentor Miranda Wendler from Recalibrating Hearts and I dig deep into surrender and trust. Not the fluffy, just let it go and you'll be free kind of conversation, but a real... raw... open conversation about moving past your pain, trials, and hardship to a deeper level of surrender. Opening the past so that you can step into the future. I know that if you feel stuck, stagnant, or frustrated with your life - this is a must-listen. True favor is found on the other side of laying it all down at the feet of Jesus. We can do hard things, because He goes before us. Tom “Canny” Canfield worked on Wall Street for two years, before starting a chain of restaurants. Ultimately, Canny began trading stocks in 1997, as he wound down the restaurant business, and went full-time by 1999, because of the freedom it provided to be at home with his wife and four kids. Trading is an expression of love for his family and has allowed him to be actively involved in his kids' lives. Coaching, teaching, and encouraging, is very much in his blood…from hockey with his children to trading today. Tom is now free to enjoy life on his own terms. In this episode of How To Trade It, Tom and Casey discuss the joys and pains of trading. You don't want to miss it!Subscribe to How To Trade ItYou'll want to hear this episode if you are interested in…[06:12] A strategy for this current market[08:59] How Tom enters a trade[13:22] Knowing when NOT to trade[23:45] Rebounding from a catastrophic loss[29:29] Facing your demons[35:29] The one year heart attack anniversary!Strategy for this current marketAccording to Tom, there's a whole lot of nothing right now. Short trading is pretty stressful for him. He tends to be more of a long-term trader who looks for growth stocks that are gaining ground quickly and are in an uptrend. So, when market conditions are under the 200 moving average, Tom tends to trade very short-term…one, two, maybe three days, at most. There are still lots of small wins you can capture, but it's the money he makes on those long-term trades that sustain him during these leaner times. Knowing when NOT to tradeTom likes to take a break…or rest…from trading. He believes it's healthy for our progress to take weeks, even months, where we don't take a trade at all. “It's absolutely essential to your mental health”, he chimes. Rebounding from a catastrophic lossIn late January 2018, Tom tragically suffered a devastating $500,000 loss in a matter of about an hour. He tried to trade again, but was spiraling out of control. All he wanted to do was recover his money, but he was spinning his wheels. Tom ended up taking six months off from trading because he was so psychologically damaged that he couldn't even think straight. It was critical that he took the time necessary to get back to “neutral”. For Tom, that meant accepting that the money was gone, it was no longer his, he only had what he had, and then he needed to move on from there. No looking back. He learned that it's essential to accept losses entirely, so you can find peace right where you are. It took a lot of effort, and discipline, but after almost two years, Tom was back in the swing of things and had recouped his losses. David J.P. Fisher is the President of RockStar Consulting, a Sales Hall of Fame inductee, keynote speaker, author, and coach. Part of our journey as salespeople is the alignment of our individual values with how we sell. Being intentional about this growth not only makes us sell more effectively but also makes us more memorable. David comments further on the role of sales leadership in enabling the success of sellers, as well as win rates being an essential KPI. HIGHLIGHTS ● Know yourself more to sell better ● Be intentional with authentic vs salesy behavior ● Coaching on self-awareness and incremental changes ● A seller's win rate is a key indicator of performance QUOTES David: "If you are a young seller who has that first sales job and you just are getting this message from the people on high that, hey, you just got to do this, again, self-awareness is not an easy, not only an easy path, it's not an easy path to choose, I think, and that's why you get stats that half the sellers are unmemorable." David: "If I was deliberate about it, at least then I can then figure out if it works or not. I wasn't just muddling along. It was like I was deliberately trying this, holy crap, it worked. Okay, so let me examine that. Or I deliberately do this, it did not work. Let us re-examine this." Andy: "The salespeople that work for them are basically the product, and that product is an individual who can go and operate at a certain level in a predictable fashion. And so, that's really the job of a sales manager. My job is to develop these individuals in such a way and manage them, coach them, so that they can really achieve a certain level of performance, that being quota." Welcome to another live coaching session. These kind of podcast episodes are so rare simply because they are so special. You have been given the absolute privilege of listening in to someone else's vulnerable and transparent experience of working through their biggest challenges in the coaching space. The decision to allow you access to this conversation is not made lightly by Leanne or I. This is a sacred space that is deeply personal. However we both felt that it would provide enormous benefit for others going through something similar. If you are willing to respect the courage and authenticity involved here, then listen in and receive the gifts on offer.
The idea of seeking and getting help has become more acceptable in society, in general. More people today are open to talking about their experiences. And the stigma for getting professional help has greatly been diminished, if not entirely eliminated. There has been an explosion in the field of coaching over the last few years. And the result of all these newly-minted coaches is that getting coached, in all aspects of life is now relatively accessible for more people. So, the upshot is professional help is more accessible, and more people are getting help. If there's an area in your life that you are having difficulty with, chances are, you'll be able to find someone who can help you address or overcome the issues. The challenge with more options is that we now must decide what kind of help we need. Who do we see for what kind of problem? How do we select, and what can we expect from the experience? All that is the subject of today's episode and to help me understand the landscape, I've invited Nicole Lewis-Keeber who is just the perfect person to chat with about these things!Nicole is in a unique position to shed some light here because she is a licensed clinical social worker - who worked for many years as a therapist. Then, she went on to get different kinds of coach training and became a mindset coach. So today, she is both! Although she's directed her professional work toward the business landscape and her clients call her the “business therapist”.IN THIS EPISODE: How therapy differs from coaching What kind of help you can expect from a therapist vs a life coach The intersection of life coaching and business coaching, and where the lines get blurred The limits within these fields Nicole's tips for selecting the right professional help For all the links and show notes, head on over to http://secondbreaks.com
Here's something to know about coaching: You don't have to be the expert in all things. Lee Chaix McDonough, the founder of Coach with Clarity, sees visible relief on the faces of her clients when she shares this news. “You are the expert in building nurturing relationships. You are the expert in asking powerful questions,” she says. But you do not have to be the knower of all things, so lean into that grace! On this episode of She Turned Entrepreneur, Lee is sharing the framework she has evolved to support the people who aspire to do the supporting: Coaches. She provides an International Coaching Association certification program that deepens self-knowledge and helps coaches systematically tap into their strengths and inner resources. “You learn as you do,” says the best-selling author of "ACT On Your Business: Braving the storms of entrepreneurship and creating success through meaning, mindset, and mindfulness" You'll learn about Lee's Coach with Clarity framework, which focuses both on coaching practices and craft as well as small-business elements such as marketing, sales and growing a one-to-many model. Lee explains that her certification process is “one of multiple paths to coming to be a proficient coach. It's really important that each individual find the path that will work for them.” Perhaps the Coach with Clarity path is the one meant for you! Click here to learn more about Lee's best-seller, "ACT On Your Business: Braving the storms of entrepreneurship and creating success through meaning, mindset, and mindfulness." Click here to listen to, rate and review this or previous She Turned Entrepreneur episodes. Here are key takeaways from the conversation:· Training is a great way to pivot or augment a coaching practice. Even coaches need coaching!· Interested in accreditation? Not only do coaching certificates confer a great knowledge base, they also provide a lab for us to learn about ourselves along the way.· The job of a coach is not to tell clients what to do, but rather to provide a container for them to discover and feel supported in pursuing the path that's right for them.· The coach's work is to identify and facilitate clients' direction – not define them.· It's the going not the getting there: Remember that coaching is about the process.· Prefer coaching one-on-one? That's just fine! Scaling to bigger groups isn't for everyone.· Nerves happen – to coaches as well as clients. Calling it out diffuses it! Here's a quick look into the episode:· A social worker and public health professional by training, Lee worked with a broad array of clients through years of relocations while her husband was in the Air Force. She ultimately felt called to do something other than social work, from which she'd taken a break, but didn't know what that would look like.· Lee's decision to get certified as a coach grew out of watching her husband grapple with launching a dental practice – and all the small-business/entrepreneurial elements involved. She saw first-hand the need for support.· Once her practice was launched, Lee started getting inquiries from clients who wanted to learn the ropes of coaching themselves – a training niche that she has handily filled!· Lee launched her training and accreditation program right in the midst of pandemic, which was a chaotic time but also a moment in which people were seeking connection.· Traits that make a good fit for Lee's program:o People who are curious.o People with open minds.o People who have the ability to hold space for others to figure out their thoughts.· You don't have to be the ultimate expert in all things as a coach. People are seeking help, an extension of experience and knowledge – not a steamroller.· Lee's advice for aspiring coaches:o Pause to take stock of your interior landscape and core values. o Coaching is an expression of who we are, so self-understanding is key.o Helpers and healers (traits common among many coaches) need to be wary of basing self-worth on how well they are serving others.· There are myriad paths to developing a coaching practice – and not all of them require scaling or moving away from one-to-one work.· What Lee's certification program teaches:o Fundamental ICF coaching skills and practices.o Specific techniques and tactics.o The rules of the road (so you know when to break them!).· About Lee's podcast, a little bit of everything about what it takes to be both a successful coach and to run a sustainable business. It explores:o The craft of coaching and how to build relationships when things get sticky.o Business elements: marketing, sales, one-to-many programs.o Live coaching calls.o Expert guests speaking on various topics. About Lee:Lee helps clients connect with a deeper, more aligned form coaching — and to build a successful coaching business in the process. She is an ICF-certified business coach, creator of the Coach with Clarity® framework, a licensed clinical social worker, host of the Coach with Clarity podcast, and author of the #1 bestselling book, ACT on Your Business. Having helped hundreds of coaches tap into their wisdom and serve clients in truly life-changing ways, Lee offers resource that develop both the skill set and mindset to ultimately transform the lives of their clients.

S2_E44. EPISODE DESCRIPTION -Last week we spoke about confronting the issue of fear in writing. This week we will continue our series by differentiating ‘nice' and ‘kind,' and what it looks like to make others feel uncomfortable for the sake of telling the truth. We need to be brave enough yo be honest rather than polite. Taking these ideas further, a common misconception I see with many writers is that they believe every story, and specifically their story, needs to have a happy ending. I am here to tell you, that not every story needs a happy ending. What every story needs, is a believable ending. ‘Nice,' in the way we use it today, is ‘feel good,' and that's not good writing. To be kind is to allow our characters the free will to choose, and to suffer the consequences or rewards that come from those choices. This is also believable, since it's how it actually works in real life, and therefore reflects the truth of reality as God created it. In God's economy we learn that even when characters suffer at the end because of their poor choices or actions, while it may not be a happy ending, it is a kind one, since it tells the truth about the way the world works, and ultimately calls our audience to repentance. Coaches, Assemble! Grab your notebooks or open that notes app on your phone and get ready for a loaded episode today with Jess talking about the coaching superpowers that each of us has. So, you've started a business but it really isn't where you want to be as far as success goes. You look over at a competitor and the sun seems to shine on them wherever they go– everything is going so well for them. Jess, why do some coaches just seem to have “it?” Have you ever thought about that? *Spoiler Alert* Many of us do. Luckily Jess is giving us the key so we can move the needle in our favor so we can also have “it” too. The key? Awareness. It all starts with awareness. When we are self-aware, we have the ability to know what our strengths (ahem, superpowers) are as well as our blind spots. Once we have that knowledge, we can anticipate challenges that arise. But here's the deal– what many of us don't think about is when we go on autopilot. Jess paints a picture through the analogy of driving to work every day, the same way for ten years. You leave home and all of a sudden you find yourself in the parking lot at work. How did you get there? Sound familiar? The same thing can happen in business. We can slip into our default comfort zones and autopilot will take over. But, again, awareness is the key here. Is awareness enough? Jess says no. The reason she and the rest of the DBE team came up with the Coaching Superpower Quiz is to harness the three A's. The first we already know: awareness. The second is acceptance. “As-is” is a term that is scary in real estate, but is necessary and empowering when it comes to our superpowers. We have to accept our strengths and blindspots for what they are and accept ourselves for who we are if we want to move forward to the final step– action. When we are aware and accept ourselves, we are empowered to take action. This is the magic that moves the needle in our favor to whatever “it” is to us. But what are these superpowers? Well, Jess tells us, but here's a disclaimer: Do not make these superpowers, avatars, archetypes– whatever you would like to call them, more than what they are until you actually take the quiz for yourself. (We're talking 60 seconds of your time to get unlimited potential for you and your business) Here are the four superpowers that Jess has observed throughout her ten years of experience in this industry: The Dreamer, The Innovator, The Authority, and The Enthusiast. Take the quiz to find out which one you are and how it can influence your life and your business. Want to know which one Jess is? She will show you hers when you show her yours! As always, cheers to your evolution! Episode Quotes “Your business is a reflection of you and will only grow to the extent that you grow.” –Jessica DeRose “Figuring this out could be the thing that you're actually missing in your business. It could be the thing that's keeping you feeling stuck– it could be the thing that is why you're not seeing the result you wish you were seeing.” –Jessica DeRose Key Timestamps [1:43] –Episode starts; [2:38] – Awareness is the key to figuring out what our superpower is and how to harness it; [8:30] – It doesn't matter what stage of business you're in, anyone can benefit from knowing their superpower; [9:28] – Jess divulges the different avatars: Dreamer, Innovator, Authority, Enthusiast; [12:11] – This is not just a quiz for fun, there is depth and power when utilized correctly; [14:10] – This awareness can help us from defaulting into our comfort zones/autopilot; [17:16] – We can only grow what we can measure; [18:14] – A more in-depth discussion about our blindspots; [19:26] – The three A's– the first being awareness; [22:34] – Acceptance, accepting without judgment as-is; [23:29] – Taking action that is aligned and messy; [25:29] – Reviewing the 3 A's and Superpowers; [27:10] – Episode wrap-up and Take the Quiz! Five Lessons I Wish I Would Have Listened to About Life and Business1. You don't have to have it all figured out. Life is a journey, and we're all just along for the ride. This was something that I struggled with for a long time. I felt like I needed to have everything mapped out in order to be successful. But the truth is, that life is unpredictable and ever-changing. The best we can do is enjoy the ride and roll with the punches. We tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to have everything "figured out" by a certain age or milestone. But the truth is, nobody has it all figured out. And that's OK! Life is a journey, and we're all just along for the ride. Take small stepsCelebrate tiny winsTake time to recharge (take a break) 2. It's not about the destination but the journey. This ties in with the first point. So often, we get so focused on reaching the goals that we forget to enjoy the process of getting there. But if you take the time to savor the journey, you'll find that it's just as rewarding as reaching the destination. Get more out of what you are doing - What are other ways to think strategically?Being grateful in the momentJournaling what's working and not working 3. You can't please everyone, so don't even try. In business and life, you'll always have people who disagree with you and think you're doing it wrong. And that's OK! As long as you're true to yourself and your values, that's all that matters. Trying to please everyone is a recipe for disaster. You'll only end up pleasing no one, including yourself. So instead of trying to be everything to everyone, focus on being true to yourself and those who matter most to you. Focus on the relationships that matter most. Think of who really brings value Accept that some people are your people and some aren'tSet boundaries for everyone 4. Comparison is the thief of joy. It's so easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. But I realized that everyone is on their own journey, and comparing myself to others was only holding me back from enjoying my own life. Apply what you have learned and what you see; don't copyUse others as fuel to push furtherThere will always be a first and a last. 5. Perfectionism is dangerous. This is something that I'm still working on, and it's definitely a work in progress. But perfectionism can be crippling, both in life and in business. It can prevent you from taking risks and trying new things out of fear of failure. And it's important to remember that failure is a part of life; it's how we learn and grow. If I could go back in time and give myself some advice, I would tell my younger self to stop being such a perfectionist. At the time, I thought that everything had to be perfect in order to be successful. I would spend hours agonizing over small details, and as a result, I often missed deadlines. Not only was this frustrating for me, but it also made me less productive. I have since learned that it is far better to focus on the big picture and let go of the need for perfectionism. This doesn't mean that we should tolerate sloppy work. But rather that we should strive for excellence rather than perfection. By learning to let go of my perfectionism, I have been able to achieve far more in both my personal and professional life. Done is better than perfectHow can you be perfect if you don't release it to the world Strive for excellence, not perfectionI'd like to leave you with these popular quotes:"Life is a journey, not a destination." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. "The best way to find out what we truly need in life is by experimenting." - Steve Jobs "Don't compare your chapter one to someone else's chapter twenty." - Unknown"You can't be everything to everyone." - Oprah Winfrey"Remember: life is an adventure, not a competition." - Unknown"These are just a few things I wish I had known sooner in life. But the reality is, that we all have to go through our own journey to learn these lessons. And that's OK! Just remember to enjoy the ride, and don't take yourself too seriously. Life is supposed to be fun, after all. I'm so excited to spend these 100 episodes with you. I have grown as a person because of you, and I will be forever grateful. However, now is time for a much-needed break from podcasting so I can begin to put focus on other areas of my life and business. I can't wait to return to share all I have gained through my journey, and I can't wait to hear from you!
