Finding a Place For PeaceWhat is it like to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and to be transgender, yet not be transitioning to a different gender? How is someone able to address gender dysphoria, yet live in harmony with the teachings of the Gospel? Is that even possible? There is a main stream narrative that exists in the LGBT community about the LDS Church, or Mormons, and how the church addresses transgender issues. Much of it tends to have a discouraging tone. I am one who suffers with gender dysphoria and in this podcast I will explore what this is all like and how there is a positive message about being transgender and a faithful member of the church. You can send comments and feedback to the host at Bob@faithandgender.com.
In this episode, I give an update on the number of activities that I have been involved in over the last few months. With the beginning of season 2 of the podcast, I turn my attention to things happening out in the world surrounding transgenderism. In particular the things that are happening to children who say that they have gender dysphoria. One of the things that I speak about in this episode is the character of Candlewick from the story of Pinocchio. This character is symbolic of what is happening to us in these days in regards to transgender ideology. Transgender medicine is not able to identify which children will grow out of the feelings that they have and it has been shown that the majority of children do. I discuss the importance to see the reality in these matters and to act. These children and their parents need our help. It is time for you to stand up and participate in community action to protect these children. If you want to help, you can reach out to me at Bob@faithandgender.com.
Is transgender ideology growing within the church? Does love and compassion equate to affirmation? These and other questions we discuss in this episode. The leaders of the church teach us of the principle of eternal gender, but this message is not getting to many who belong to the private trans communities that are focused on members who are LGBT. Many popular guest speakers in these community speak of love, but they do not even mention the principle of eternal gender. It has been said that true love is not love if it doesn't have truth. Much of the transgender ideology has entered into our schools and it is being taught to our children as early as kindergarten. Schools and social media are indoctrinating our children without parents knowing that it is happening. It is time for us to do something. It is time for us to protect our children.Feel free to reach out to me at bob@faithandgender.com.
In this episode, I speak about how the principle of opposition plays a factor in my life and my experiences with gender dysphoria. The principle of opposition applies to everyone, not just those who experience gender dysphoria. Our Heavenly Father desires that we face opposition so that we can grow and live in righteousness. There is divine purpose to the challenges that we face. Opposition is not always due to sin, but often it is more a test of our endurance. The Lord has provided us with support and guidance in the trials that we are faced with. I provide a number of personal experiences that help understand this principle. I believe that this episode is quite timely as we see ever more turmoil in the world around us. You can provide me with any of your feedback at Bob@faithandgender.com.
How do we react to the conflicts around us? The world increasing becomes more us versus them. In this episode, I discuss what to do when we feel our ideas and beliefs are attacked. This could be applied to individuals who suffer from gender dysphoria or leaders and family members who interact with those who have gender dysphoria. I will share with you different ways that people see the world and how this can help us better handle the conversations that we have with people who don't believe as we may believe. I have had several people who have requested that I make an episode in Spanish. For many years, I have learned and spoken Spanish, so I thought that I would give it a try (though my Spanish is not perfect). For those listeners that do not understand Spanish, no need to fret. This episode is similar to the first episode that I did in English. Also, I am only doing this episode to see how much interest there is in episodes in Spanish. I would appreciate your thoughts about this. Please email me at Bob@faithandgender.com with your comments. I will be returning to English episodes in the next several episodes, so check back shortly to continue listening.Warm regards,Bob
