floating roots is a music blog all about people being their authentic selves. we promote positive, underground content to help give it the recognition it deserves. much love for lending your ears, we hope you enjoy!
the feel-good prince caye and his manager theron stopped by while they were in NYC, and we drank a lot of whiskey. caye is making some of the most inspiring, feel-good music out right now and you really get where it comes from when you sit down with him. we chop it up about his past with music, his collaboration with wiz khalifa, and his future plans. the future is bright for this kid. no doubt about it.
the funkiest indie duo in NYC stopped by for a lengthy, nonsensical interview. (the microphone turns on at 04:52 - sorry for the camera audio beforehand!) we drink all the beers and talk about all the things: how they started making music together, their future sound, and the purpose they get out of making music.
the tampa-based ukulele queen Ari Chi stopped by NYC and i was lucky enough to flag her down for a podcast interview. her and brodie stopped by and we chopped it up about her past projects, the direction of her music, performing, and just general bullshit. she brings an infectiously chill vibe everywhere she goes and she even blessed us with a live performance of an unreleased song
floating roots is now based in NYC! the first interview here is with sweetheart and artist Hadji Gaviota. the dude is creating his very own brand of indie music and it sounds like candy for your ears. here we chop it up over a few beers and he talks about his past at UPenn, booking shows, and other upcoming artists.
spanning_time (Pat Keane) and i go down some DEEP rabbit holes of music conversation here. the incredibly talented, upcoming electronic musician educates myself (and the listener) about the world of electronic music until we start speaking about music itself. life, art and emotion from the perspective of the genius musician.
no lie, these are some of the realest dudes i've ever met. Chai Chelios and Gabe Richards create Annona, the most feel-good, deep indie music coming out of the Tampa Bay area. in this interview we chop it up about hard work, confidence, and the state of hip-hop over a couple brewskis. if you aren't up on Annona, you're missing out. end of story.
lucky podcast number 7 is with the homie HeyeYella of the local Zhudaru click. this is one of the most genuine and and most talented cats St Petersburg, FL has to offer. the dude's music is nectar from the soul and it shines through in the way he presents himself. good vibes all around, amigos. make sure you check out his new track Dem Daze everywhere music is found!
what’s up amigos! the other night i decided to start doing solo podcasts where i discuss everything going on with Floating Roots as well as the rest of the nonsense brewing in my brain
what’s up amigos! today i sat back down with the monkey man himself, Mikey Barber. we probably drank too much espresso before this, and we ended up having a relatively philosophical discussion about art, Identity, Logic, morality and power. Mikey and i definitely enjoyed it, and we sincerely hope you do too
what’s up amigos! in this episode of the podcast, i sat down with Matt Desmond and Kyle Gray of the stupid talented, crazy catchy band The Cigarette Blondes. based out of St Petersburg, FL, their indie sound is so damn emotionally soothing you literally feel lighter after listening. here we drank some wine, talked about how they all got started, and just chopped it up a bit. they’re both really down-to-earth dudes, and i’m super stoked to watch them grow.
what's up friends! this episode is basically just me having drinks with my good friend steven araico. steven is a ridiculously talented young musician with a good ol heart o' gold. he just released his first single, "Letting Go" with a berry dope music video to go along with it. we discuss his music making process, our past as friends that went to the same high school and where he wants to take his music from here. (we also get pretty drunk. steven brought vodka. sue us.) thank you guys so much for checking this out. hope you enjoy :) https://www.floatingrootsblog.com/ Instagram: @floatingroots FaceBook: @floatingrootsblog Twitter: @rootsfloating E-mail: info@floatingrootsblog.com
what's up friends! again - so sorry for the shitty visuals/audio quality. this time the lapel mic's went out and we had to use the camera audio. we're trying! lmao it'll get better i promise. this episode is an interview with local musician Jordan Esker of the band Jordan Esker & The Hundred Percent. dude is a real intelligent, real laid-back guy (and his band makes some kick-ass shit.) i had a great time getting into the nitty-gritty of his music, what songwriting means to a songwriter, and why music is as powerful as it is. his band is real, genuinely good indie shtuff. make sure you check out their new album "Fail to Learn." i wish the best to this dude and his whole team. good stuff, this. i hope you guys enjoy this conversation half as much as i did having it :)
what’s good! welcome to the Floating Roots podcast - a brand new podcast coming from a music blog all about authenticity. this is episode one, i know there’s some shitty camera work and a really boring 5 minute intro, but work with us here :P we’re new to this too :) check the music blog itself, and check up for our next episode with the crazy talented St Petersburg musician, Jordan Esker :)
