January 21, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 82 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the morning press conference that the Buffalo Bills ownership and front office conducted and some of the jaw-dropping comments that we could not ignore. Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl will reportedly interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their general manager position, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that news early in this show. The Steelers have signed a few more free agent players to Reserve/Future contracts since our last episode, so Alex and I run through that list. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now hired former Steelers STC Danny Smith, so we make sure to give that bit of news some attention. We also discuss the possibility of S Miles Killebrew following Smith to Tampa Bay this coming offseason with him scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in March. With the Steelers' search for a new head coach now entering its second week, Alex and I discuss the latest concerning that topic. We go over the in-person meeting scheduled for this week with head coach candidates and whether the list of new prospects will grow any this week. Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger released a new episode of his podcast on Tuesday and that show produced several talking points. We go over Roethlisberger's support for Mike McCarthy to be the Steelers' next head coach and his thoughts on how he thinks the Steelers should handle their quarterback position in 2026 and possibly even 2027. Alex and I have a lengthy discussion about McCarthy potentially being the Steelers next head coach and the pros and cons related to that. We discuss McCarthy's age, how much longer he would likely coach, and whether either of us would be happy if he ultimately gets the job. With Roethlisberger talking about the future of the quarterback position during his recent podcast episode, Alex and I discuss the possibility of QB Will Howard being the starter in Pittsburgh in 2026. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers taking a hard look at Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis in free agency this offseason. I make my thoughts known on Howard ultimately being the quarterback the Steelers decide to roll with for at least the 2026 season. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward addressed the departure of HC Mike Tomlin during his recent podcast episode, so Alex and I make sure to recap things he said on that topic. We also address what former Steelers RB Najee Harris said about Tomlin during his appearance on a podcast. This 106-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we close things out by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are conducting a high-profile search for a new offensive coordinator after parting ways with Josh Grizzard following an 8ā9 season and a missed playoff berth in 2025. Among the names they're exploring is Dan Pitcher, the Bengals' offensive coordinator, who is scheduled to interview with Tampa Bay this week. Pitcher, 39, has been on the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff since 2016, ascending from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach and then offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. Though he holds the OC title in Cincinnati, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor retains play-calling duties, which means Pitcher hasn't had an opportunity to call plays in regular-season games. Taylor has granted him permission to interview with teams offering play-calling offensive coordinator roles, making the Buccaneers' opening a potentially significant career move. The interview represents both an opportunity and a challenge. On paper, it could be seen as a lateral move in terms of job title, but for Pitcher it's a rare chance to step into a role where he would directly run the offense on game days ā something he hasn't done in Cincinnati. His track record includes helping develop quarterback Joe Burrow into one of the NFL's premier passers, which is a major selling point for Tampa Bay as they look to revitalize an offense that underperformed in key areas last season. Tampa Bay's coaching search has been extensive, with interviews already held with several candidates including former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Ravens OC Todd Monken, and others. Pitcher adds another experienced offensive mind to that mix as the Buccaneers weigh their next steps. Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Track Name Holy (Trap). Brayden Pointās apparent leg injury has cast doubt over his Olympic availability with just a month to go, forcing Hockey Canada to game-plan potential replacements which will apparently be decided primarily by filling the same role as Point and there is an elite list of candidates. The Toronto Maple Leafs are surging with points in 10 straight, punctuated by an OT win in Colorado that snapped the Avsā 17-game home win streak. The Eastern Conference is beginning to separate as hot streaks by Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Buffalo contrast sharply with the spiraling New York Rangers, whose brutal 10ā2 loss underscored league-worst defensive play and looming roster uncertainty even for players with no-trade clauses. Coaching turmoil hit Columbus as the Columbus Blue Jackets fired Dean Evason after just 45 games and brought Rick Bowness out of retirement to stabilize a team undone by goaltending and late-game collapses, while the New Jersey Devils briefly quieted the noise by snapping a five-game skid with a road win in Minnesota amid ongoing debate over roster moves. If you think branding starts and ends with a logo, we need to talk. In this conversation, I dug into what really makes a brand work and spoiler alert, it has very little to do with what you personally like. We talked about why branding gets messy, where business owners go wrong, and how to build something that actually connects with the people you want to serve. I sat down with Jessica Adanich, an award winning designer, brand strategist, and founder of DesignProd Studio. She helps businesses turn half formed ideas into brands that are ready to stand up in the real world, not just look good on a screen. Here are a few takeaways you can use right away: Your brand starts with your audience, not your taste Jessica nailed this. If you do not know who you are talking to, every design choice is just a guess. The goal is not to please yourself. It is to connect with the people you want to attract. AI is a tool, not the answer AI can help you get unstuck, spot patterns, or gather insight. It cannot replace talking to real customers or making smart judgment calls. Think toolbox, not magic wand. Consistency beats creativity when it comes to trust You might feel repetitive showing up with the same look and message. Your audience feels reassured. Brands stick because they are familiar, not because they constantly reinvent themselves. A good logo has to work in the real world If it only looks good in color, at full size, on your laptop, it is not a logo. It is artwork. Your brand assets should hold up everywhere, including black and white and low tech situations. If your brand feels a little fuzzy right now, that is not a failure. It is a sign you are ready to clarify what you stand for and who you serve. About JessicaĀ Jessica Adanich is an alumna of the Cleveland Institute of Art where she studied industrial design, graphic design, sculpture and glass. She spent her early career working with renowned brands such as VitamixĀ® and Hasbro NERFĀ®. She spent the next six years leading the design and marketing department of MaceĀ® Brand. As a seasoned professional, Jessica yearned for a creative agency of her own. DesignPod Studio was born in Cleveland in the fall of 2018. Jessica moved to Tampa Bay in October 2019 to be closer to the ocean she loves, where she leads DesignPod Studio as well as her shark conservation endeavor Fuzzy Sharks that creates artwork to educate individuals on shark conservation. In āHow a Humble Crab Dish Became the Soul of Tampa,ā Gravy producer Nicole Hutcheson travels across Tampa to trace the story of a lesser-known local dishācrab chilau. Every city has a dish that says something true about the people who built it. In Tampa, that dish is crab chilau. Made with blue crabs and simmered in tomatoes, garlic, spices, and served over pasta, crab chilau is shaped by Sicilians, Cuban and Afro-Cuban families, and Tampa's Black communityāeach group adding a twist to make it their own. Hutcheson's journey travels from historic Ybor City to rapidly gentrifying corridors of the city, and even knee-deep into the marshy waters of Tampa Bay. Along the way, she meets the people carrying crab chilau forward today: Enzo Pardo, a Sicilian chef reimagining the dish through his own heritage; Jesus Puerto, a Tampa native who returned home after decades away to stake his claim; and Reggie Nelson, an enterprising businessman and chef building a name for himself while preserving a culinary legacy rooted in community. Listeners hear first-hand how crab chilau isn't a single recipe. Instead it's what happens when different cultures, customs, and lived experiences come together in the same pot and city. No one version is the sameāsome are spicier, some brown the sauce until it resembles a stew. Others keep it closer to a sofrito. Add-ins like ground beef, smoked sausage, and snow crab aren't deviations; they're evidence of a dish built to evolve and feed a crowd. Through personal encounters in kitchens, restaurants, and the outdoors, Hutcheson shares how crab chilau reflects the way Tampa's food culture itself was built: informally, collaboratively, and without a singular owner. From cooks freestyling the pot to meals designed to nourish entire neighborhoods, the dish tells a larger story about gathering, creativity, and culture. Crab chilau is a living record of how cultures meet and adapt. Listeners will walk away from this episode with a deeper sense of Tampa's identity and place in the American South.
