#1: Discussing the Experience of Immigrant Kids, Being an ER Doctor, & Spirituality w/ Dr. Ali Ahmed

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 22, 2020 69:16

This is the very first episode of Life Cycle, a podcast about people’s life journeys, their experiences and the way they’ve grown over time. Life Cycle is run by me, Lisa Ostin. I’m a 17 year old with curiosity and a drive to impact people’s lives. In this episode, my interviewee is the humble Dr. Ali Ahmed, an ER doctor who works at Mease Countryside Hospital. I’m embarrassed to say that I mixed up his name during the episode but he was gracious and wasn’t bothered by it . We discussed the complexities in the dynamic of being the kid of immigrants, the experiences we’ve encountered with dealing with our ethnicities and race, what it’s like to be in the medical field, and what spirituality means to us. I am very proud of this episode. There were some technical difficulties along the way and the editing isn’t perfect but nonetheless I am very happy with the outcome. It represents the beginning of a new chapter for me, which is really exciting.
