Two students explain the finer points of how to create an e-portfolio that documents their work and learning artifacts throughout the school year. The center provides a wide range of career and technical education to high school students focused on employment, post-secondary education or apprenticeship after graduation.
The Culinary Arts program at New Market Skills Center combines a comprehensive culinary curriculum with on the job training. Students exit the program job-ready and prepared for the next level in their culinary education. Students are immersed in daily commercial food production, customer service training and academic instruction. Graduates can earn industry certification, including Serve Safe Sanitation certification. This is an example of one student's final project.
This PSA emphasizes the need for safety on the job in car repair facilities. The Collision Repair Technology program at New Market Skills Center is the only NATEF- certified program in Washington state. Safety and proper use of equipment and materials are stressed throughout this program. Students become involved in leadership activities, which stress cooperation and teamwork. They learn vehicle construction, minor body repair, sanding, painting components and spraying techniques, how to estimate damages, MIG welding and more.
